Yes the visa in the passport serves as authorization work.

I had a SSN previously under my maiden name as I worked in the US before, but I had to change my last name due to marriage and it had to reflect what my passport said and it took 4 weeks to get it back after changing my name. Not sure if it's the same wait time but that's the most I can help with. Sorry.

Just a little update here for anyone interested in U-Box. I was able to move with U-Box and had a pretty good experience.

I had them deliver and pick up the U-Box from my Canadian residence at my own schedule, for the most part. I was in a smaller city so the requested date of arrival fell within a couple of days of the original request. Not bad at all. I'm sure if you are in a larger city, they can accommodate on the exact day you like

I was told it would be arriving in Florida from Ontario by October 14 and it was picked up in Canada on September 23. It arrived October 3rd! Pleasant surprise!!

It cost about $2500 CDN all in and was worth it. The U-box fits a LOT of stuff. If you're moving a 1 bdrm apartment or less I'd say you can get away with one. But again, that's relative to your square footage.

They will send you the customs form for you to fill out as well as an inventory list. I didn't have to do fully itemized, but I did a list like: Box 1 - Christmas Decorations, Box 2 - Office Items. If you have questions about the customs form or how to do your inventory, they have a specific email address they will provide to you with questions and they got back to me within 12 hours so it was pretty convenient.

I spoke with an officer at my local land POE and asked if it would cause any issues. She said that it is not advised to activate just to turn back around. And if you are doing that, do not say you are. I didn't want to take the chance and I just waited to activate it when I finally was moving by air.

Just got back from the consulate in Montreal and I am happy to say that I have been approved!! Well, we think LOL She said that she "intends to approve the visa" but the system is being slow/is down so she couldn't do it immediately. But I didn't get my passport handed back to me or the 221g handed over. The only paper she gave me was how to track the visa!

My interview was scheduled for 8:30 but I got there at just before 8:10 because my Uber was far faster than I thought it would be. There were about 9 people ahead of me which was weird because they were all waiting for interviews at 9:15! There were two people behind me for 8:30 as well. At 8:15 the security guard asked me what my interview time was and he let me up right away. I walked in, handed the lady my passport, put my things in the X-Ray machine and then put my phone and smartwatch in the locker and headed upstairs.

It took about 10 mins for my number to be called to go to the first window (Window 5) and she confirmed phone numbers and addresses and then asked me for the following documents:
1 Passport photo Police Certificate Birth Certificate Marriage Certificate My husband's divorce decree My husbands 2022 tax return and 2022 W2 She took my finger prints and then she sent me back on my way to the waiting room to wait for my interview. I waited for my interview for about an hour, almos 9:30 AM on the nose was my interview time. Who interview lasted just over 5 minutes. They asked the following:
Name of the petitioner What is our relationship Where does he live Where did we meet When did we start dating What made us decide to get married "Tell me about your wedding" Did you read the pamphlet and if I had questions about it Then she said she intends to approve it. And off I went! All in all pretty painless. My stomach was still in knots throughout the whole thing!

    Hey all!

I had my medical appointment with Dr. Lyndon Mascarenhas on July 4th and I couldn't have been happier with how easy it was. My appointment was at 10:15AM and because I knew I'd have to fill out a questionnaire, I arrived 30 minutes early. As soon as I came in, I said my name and she asked for my ID. I left my passport in the car (idiot! lol) and then said I would be right back. She told me that I was fine because they already had my passport scan via email and just needed another photo ID to verify I was me. IMPORTANT: Make sure you bring your DS-260! Luckily I didn't forget THAT in the car lol

She gave me the questionnaire right away to fill out which only took maybe 5 minutes to fill it out. I handed it back and she immediately told me to go to room 1 to await the doctor. Dr. Mascarenhas came in about 10-15 minutes later and went through my vaccine checklist, asked me about any medical conditions and medications I was on then checked off things, handed me my requisition for blood work and sent me downstairs for X-Rays. Before I left the office, I paid the $350 for the appointment and then off I went. I was done with Dr Mascarenhas and X-rays before my appointment was even scheduled to begin at 10:15.

Here's where it got long - blood work. They sent me over to Life Labs across the street (next to the Pizza Pizza) to go get that part done. When I walked in, they were already at a 111 minute wait. After about 100 minutes, I was finally seen and they did what they had to do. All in all, everything took me under 2 hours.

SUPER easy! And I already got the email confirmation (just today actually) that they had sent me results and what not to the consulate. I think I should be good for my August 8 interview.

Yes, only once a month. The interview letter should be due next week or the week after based on previous trends.

Hey there! I know I'm not Nap782, but this thread is for CR-1 and I-RI visas. If you have a different visa you are waiting for, I recommend that you look for a thread dedicated to that specific visa as this one won't really help much if you are awaiting a different one

Just called my border crossing LOL. The officer was hilarious:
"You need to be seeking admission to the United States. Do NOT tell us you are turning right back around. Go get a drink, go get gas, go to Wal-Mart, but do NOT tell us you are turning right back around. Do you see what I'm saying?" LOL.

She was hilarious. I think I'm just going to save the hassle and do everything at once haha. I'm glad she was funny and nice.

I would do the same, honestly. The worst they can tell you is to come back if you're early. You don't want them to be like "You're late. Sorry bye"

I would go off the date and time on your original interview letter. Worst case is your early and can go grab breakfast somewhere if you need to wait. It's right downtown so you have plenty of restaurant options

Update: I just checked my courier information email I received when I set it up and my interview date and time is not on the confirmation at all. Do you have a screenshot of that spot of your confirmation at all so I can make sure I'm looking at the right info?

Haha! Yeah! Basically when you get there, you'll see a line up and then a security guard will either call an interview time or ask you for your interview time. They are really nice. Once they confirm your time with you, they bring you inside where you hand your passport to the first person and they check you in. I am sure they would let you in to double check your interview time if you have both conflicting documents. They are very friendly.

Oh! That one! Interesting! My interview date remained the same from the original interview letter. WEIRD! In that case, I'd recommend just going in at 7:45 anyway with both your interview letter as well as the courier details and mention that two different times were provided so you're unsure. They have someone just inside that verifies everything so they will likely tell you the confirmed time when you are there.
