Since I just recieved the text from Delbros this morning which stated that our visa was in transit to Davao, it didn't even say delivery will start 2days etc etc which is the usual text received by others. So, I was not really expecting the visa to arrive today, I was thinking it might be anytime this week but not today.
6:20 PM my daughter knocked on my room and called out "Ma, DELBROS daw".. I couldn't believe it at first, I thought she was just playing pranks on me--which she always do-- but still I just had to peek out of the window but I couldn't see any delivery vehicle outside
(was used to big delivery vans of LBC & FedEx)... I was getting ready to go back to my room when my daughter said: "Nasa labas lagi, naka motor lang" (he is outside, in a motorcycle)...
so, I went out and saw this ordinary motor riding guy. He was holding some packets on his hand... at that point, my heart started beating faster and faster while I inched slowly towards the guy.. and there it was, on his hands was our VISA!!! I AM SOOO ECSTATIC RIGHT NOW!!!
ALL PRAISE AND HONOR BE TO GOD!
WOW! All praises to our God! Yes so many good news coming this week! More to come!!! Congrats Gay and am so happy for you and the family!!

Hi Richie, Yes its true that there are discounts given by Phil travel agencies if they know you are a first-time immigrant. Like for me, my POE is SFO. I got a one way ticket via PAL for only $765 whereas other travel agencies were quoting me at $1000++ for the same one-way ticket. Maybe your girlfriend can canvass for a good deal then just send her the money.

Congrats! Time to dance for joy!!!

been reading some of the replies here and they are all insightful and helpful to us who are having this dilemma. just want to share this. i also have my favorite cds...i plan to buy an ipod where i will transfer all my favorite songs...one kilo down. my albums of memories...i plan to scan them and save the pics on my laptop. hopefully they will all fit in...3 kilos down. i have learned to let go of attachment to material things. am sure when we get to the US, and start living there, am sure we will all start accumulating things again. so i don't plan on bringing stuff here that i won't really need in the US. well these are just my thoughts....

Thanks for giving these links...am sure it will help a lot of us who are soon leaving. Envy...have you ever considered putting some of your stuff in balikbayan boxes? I am putting my clothes in one luggage and all the other pasalubong and personal memorabilia and stuff in the box. The box definitely can hold a lot more than the "maleta".

Hello,
Is the Guidance and Couneling Seminar the only requirement for fiancees on k1 visa to take before getting passport stamp at CFO Office in Manila? Is PDOS seminar not required for fiancee visa holders? You only have to make reservations at CFO Office if you take PDOS Seminar?
thanks,
WaltnRafi
I think PDOS is for OFWs. I only attended the CFO seminar and we were all either K1 or K3 visa holders. No need to make reservations. They have a schedule though so better call the venue before you plan to attend.

Hello everyone. My fiancee will try to go to SLMEC the first week of June. Is there a good day of the week to show up or will any day work? Also, should she be at the entrance very early? Does anyone know when they open? Thanks for the help.
Quite a few people have been going at 12 or 1 PM and avoiding the early morning rush.
Just saw where one was in at 1PM and out at 3PM.
They still have to come back the next day tho. If they have kids and have skin TB test. They have to come back 2 days later for reading.
Yup that's right...don't join the rush in the morning 'coz you will end up staying in SLEC the whole day. i came in at noon and the lady i sat beside with was there at 7am and she wasn't done yet. i was done with my medical by 3pm while the lady i befriended got off at almost the same time as i did. no point wasting your time lining up and going early. just my tip.

Thank you all so much for the replies.I am trying to work out my marriage. It's complicated.I was not trying to point fingers at anyone nor solicit pity. My husband is not a bad guy. I just stated the facts to ask advice regarding my immigration case. If it really doesnt work out I will try to call Phil embassy or try to get working visa. But I am like other Filipinos who believe marriage is for keeps and problems can be overcome.
Regarding my case:
I logged in at USCIS and it says there that last update was Feb 25, 2008. Seems like no one is working on it. I see most people's cases filed same time as mine being touched. I tried calling but they couldn't help me. Last notice I got was from National Benefits center.
Wow, nemesis...I think you opened Pandora's box coz some people here are getting so heated up regarding your case.
May our Lord guide you in all your decisions and actions. Will include you in my prayers tonight. Take care!
