  1. Hey guys.

I am currently in Belgium for family emergency. Initially, I was planning to stay here 3 weeks but now I'd like to stay one week extra because of the circumstances. Will that be a problem? Do I need to fill out any forms or so for re-entering the US?

I know there are forms for when you stay abroad 6 months and longer but I want to make sure I didn't miss any info and can stay one extra week without risking anything.

  2. Hello!

I am traveling back to Belgium to see my family this weekend. I have my GC and going to stay there for 3 weeks. Are there any documents I need to bring with me to re-enter the States except the GC? I am planning to bring our lease, marriage certificate, etc.

My American partner is staying in the US, so I am a bit nervous about flying back by myself.

    Thanks

Edit: and I am obviously bringing my passport and vaccination certificates

@jayjayk it is super common nowadays. Somebody clicked button by mistake, that generated the RFE letter, then they found the marriage certificate and modified the application. Reply just in case, so whoever next is looking at your case doesn't get confused.

If in the future you go through I-751 or N-400 based on 3 year rule, just send them all the docs again instead of hoping they'll find info from previous applications.

It's frustrating how easily this mistake can be made and has a big impact on people who wait for the decision. Thank you for the advice, I will definitely keep it in mind!

They might have just lost it. Or overlooked it. Or whatever. A RFE for a marriage certificate is unfortunately unbelievable common 🤣

Yeah, I heard it. It's just extremely frustrating and confusing with the whole cancellation of the RFE and change of status to normal. But it is what it is. Thank you!

  5. Hi guys.

I got a physical RFI letter today and was very surprised when it said it is for marriage certificate because it was already submitted for AOS last year. However, I was more surprised when I checked my status online and it said "actively reviewed/nothing is outstanding" (so no sign of RFI). I checked a few different apps, the same - last update on 10/06, nothing is outstanding. Then I checked my case's history in my USCIS account and basically on 10/06 the RFI was issued, then cancelled, then issued again and then the status was changed to the regular "actively reviewed..". So I am extremely confused, did it happen to anyone?

I know we sent the certificate but since I have the actual RFI letter, we will send/upload it again, of course. So I also have a following question - does the certified copy have to be recent or the one from the last year will be ok?

Hi there, i am on the same boat as you, waiting close to 200 days, but we can only be patient. Seeing others get their EADs & GCs that filed in Oct, gives me a little boost to believe our cases are moving and we will get there soon. Patience is key, hopefully you can distract yourself with something in the meantime. Hope all is well!

Well, luckily I have a bunch of hobbies and after waiting for K1 approval for 18 months patience is not an issue 😂But sometimes of course I get a bit stressed if I start thinking about it. I checked CaseTracker and there are more cases "being actively reviewed" than approved. So I guess it's normal. But hopefully, we will hear something soonish.

My fiance listed 4 or 5 accounts on his DS 160. Two of them are now-deleted twitter accounts he doesn't use, but he just listed them anyway to be safe (so that they can't say he was concealing anything). At least for the K1 visa process, it didn't seem his social media accounts had any impact,  or at least they didn't ask him about them.

I have a lot of emails (for different projects) and social media accounts and got approved.

So, OP, yes, include whatever you have even if you don't use it a lot

    NOA 2: 5/24

    NVC Case Number Received: 6/3

    In Transit: 6/22!

    Embassy: Amsterdam!

I love to see the speed in this approval process! Any insight on how long it’ll take to get an interview?

In Belgium, the scheduling was incredibly fast. I got the letter from the embassy on 06/07 and the next available interview spot was on 06/10. But maybe Amsterdam can be busier than Brussels.

VS has been super helpful in finding information needed for this complicated immigration process. So I thought I'd give a quick update as well. I received my NOA2 on March 11, 2021, but have not gotten any response from the NVC. I finally decided to call this morning just after 7:00 am and waited for 1 1/2 hours until someone answered. The message when first calling does say that they have limited personal working there due to COVID and to only call with the most urgent needs. I received my case and invoice number, but the lady told me that they are currently not sending any K1 visa applications to the embassy. I'm not sure if this is just true for mine (Montreal) or all of them. So I guess we all just have to be patient, still. My question is, does it make sense to fill out the DS-160 already or should I just wait until the embassy received our application?

In regards to the embassies and sending the cases, it depends on the location. They definitely send them to belgium because there is barely any backlog

You can start filling out your DS-160, it will take some time and you don't have to submit it right away, you can save it and always return to it. Submit when you'll hear from the embassy.

Make sure the doctor in your home country hands you a paper that has your vaccination stuff on it, not just the envelope. Mine didn't and I realized that I needed that paper when we were ready for AoS. If not, you get the pleasure of having to spend hundreds of dollars to get a new examination, plus you'll be able to file later than planned. If you're extra lucky (like me), the blood tests won't show certain antibodies and you'll have to get them again, which means more waiting.

Also, I hate the doctor that did my examination back in Belgium.

Hey! I am also in Belgium. What doctor did you go to?
