Ahhh I'm already 4 months in and not stressed about the wait to me it gives me time to save more money, make more progress on my house, plan an small wedding.....but the benefits of CR1 would be more fitting for my fiance but ultimately this is the route we chose. Thanks for all of your insight crazy cat!
We used the wait to save money as well. We were able to pay for school and buy a second car very easily. It was long but the preparation and planning turned out to be the best thing.

From start to finish, ours took from September 2020 to February 2022. With our K1 experience, he’s had no issues with getting a social security card, drivers license, EAD. Hasn’t been the worst experience but it was indeed excruciatingly long. It didn’t help that Australia was sealed off from the world for the entire pandemic so visiting wasn’t in the cards. I would just recommend meticulous petitions to avoid delays in processing. Our first interview appointment was July 2021, but embassy kept closing due to COVID. Then September was cancelled then finally we had one in December.

Hey everyone, just checking in for the first time in awhile.
It's been about 14 months since we filed our K1 and still no NOA2 😞
Really discouraged and starting to feel like I'll never be able to just live with the love of my life... long distance is so hard.
Do you guys think we will get it soon?? It feels like we've been waiting forever.
Also once we get it will the rest of the steps be faster?? I wanna start our lives together 😔
My heart goes out to everyone else in the same spot or who has been through this...
My husband and I waited two years during the pandemic. He couldn’t leave his country and I couldn’t go visit. It was excruciating. One of the best pieces of advice my therapist gave me was realizing this is a small slither of time compared to the rest of your life. Now that he’s here it really does seem like our two years was a small window of time. But I know how you feel. It was very hard. Do you mind filling out your timeline? I believe the veterans in the community can tell you a little bit more depending which country your fiancé is from on the likelihood of when you may get an NOA2…

Do you later got your visa?
Yes 37 days after my post. Over two months after interview.

I’ve learned it varies greatly. We are in Los Angeles & (EAD) it took 27 days after filing. We were definitely expecting it to be 5+ months. Other members in the July AOS group have had their EADs approved quickly as well.

Interesting, thanks for noting. Seems like it would’ve logically gone to the LA FO (if there is one)? And I could only imagine how swamped that location probably was…
The AP card wasn’t also approved?
No update on AP card. Only a status change for AOS that it’s being actively reviewed and the approval for EAD. I just checked our notices again and no field office is indicated. Only a NVC center in Missouri w a P.O. Box at the bottom

Wow that’s wickedly fast. Was there an expedite involved? And what was the field office assigned?
No expedite we were expecting it to take months. I think it’s electronic? We couldn’t find a field office on our notices unless we just missed it completely

Mistakenly posted in the August AOS; received NOA July 18 for all three apps.
EAD Approved August 11. 27 days, does this mean work permit should be here soon? Finishing school in December with job placement, hoping the permit arrives in time for a smooth transition into employment.
This was answered / thank you

Received Receipt notice for our AOS this month, biometrics today.
We received a USCIS update indicating our EAD was approved for I 765, card Is being produced. Is it common to get these notices that quick but it still take a few months to physically receive the authorization?

First time poster. We are currently in Sydney waiting for the consulate to reach out about availability for an immigrant visa appointment. We’ve been DQ since august 2021 and did not have any appointment booked pre lockdown or relocation of the consulate.
Does anyone know when the consulate in Sydney will restart immigrant visa interviews and when we might get a spot? Sorry, I realise it’s a very open question but we have no idea if it will be weeks/months/years!
Its so inconsistent. They started sending some of us to Melbourne to clear their backlog. Then finish processing in Sydney for any administrative processing. What do they say when you contact them?

Wish I can say the same.
good luck with everything

Also, has your partner contacted the Sydney Consulate to ask if there's any paperwork that they're possibly waiting for? It's what I did, and how I found out that they were still waiting for my medical report.
Yeah. They have everything. They are saying it’s taking time due to covid. Considering everyone is getting their visa but us I’m sure we will probably never get it. I’m here in Australia now visiting. It’s too bad I’ll have to leave again next week and endure more waiting and pain.

Our visa was issued today!! 🥰🥰
Congrats.
We are being ignored now. I don’t believe we will be getting a visa at all. I bought plane tickets to see fiancé in Australia.

I was getting super anxious it still said Ready even though the interview was Dec 10 and the medical was Dec 13 and the medical was sent on Dec 23 and arrived on like the 10th. But today it went from "Ready" (last updated Dec 20) to "Administrative Processing" (updated Jan 24). Now I hope it becomes "approved" soon!
Aww man. My medical got there in December and still nothing. Maybe they missed me.

No update here. Interview Dec 9. Last case update Dec 29.

Hi @yvonme – in a very similar situation. Interview in Melbourne on Dec 6th, had to re-upload a couple of documents. Documents were confirmed received on 16th and now in AP. Haven't heard anything besides the usual "15 business days but COVID may delay further"
Have you had any updates?
None at all. I asked them a couple days ago for a status update and they now say visa issuance can take up to 30 days now. My documents were received before January 3.

I emailed them asking if the medical docs were received and got a generic canned "we won't confirm or deny the receipt of documents", but that when they got documents they could take up to 3 days to be security scanned and given to the consulate. After that, it goes to an officer for review. "Generally, it will take thirty (30) business days to print your visa and prepare your document package after the consular officer has reviewed and adjudicated a case."
That sounds insanely long to me...our docs were received Jan 7 so it could be until Feb 18 for 30 business days...
He was told in Melbourne at the interview that they'd approve it "as soon as they had medical" but this isn't looking great...
Yeah they confirmed receipt of docs for me January 6 (but they got there in December). I just didn’t email them until January 6. We are in the same boat. 30 days is a long time that a lot can happen. We have to take account both public holidays in the US and AUS too. They said they wish they can give me a definitive timeframe but afraid they can’t.

K1 is taking two years in Australia. I wouldn’t advise being separated that long especially with the travel restrictions. It would be hard to visit…

Hey Guys i got a question, maybe you can help. We had our interview last week for k1 visa and got approved verbally but now case is in administrative proccessing. How long will that take? Kind of concerned because although we had the form I-134 affadavit of support ready for showing, it was never asked for by anyone not even the CO who gave the interview? Strange right? Just want to know if this is strange to others as well and if so if i should be worried, thanks.
Same thing happen to me. Waiting over one month now.

Anyone else dealing with delays in the consulate's handling of their case post-interview? I had my interview two weeks ago, medical the same week (approved and transmitted to consulate immediately), was told I would be sent instructions on how to courier my passport to the consulate immediately after completion of the medical. Since then, crickets... For almost two weeks I've had no replies to email sent or calls. Anyone else going through similar stuff with their CR-1/IR-1?
Yes. Interview Dec 9. No visa update at all. I did receive replies from thy Sydney staff confirming all my documents were received and what normally takes 15 days to issue a visa is taking longer due to covid.
I wonder if they take long enough we’ll need a new medical.
-
Still waiting. Interview in December. CEAC doesn’t indicate administrative processing, only refused. They have confirmed they got everything they needed (medical).
No word yet. Still haven’t seen my fiancé in over two years.
July 2022 - AOS Filers
in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports
Posted
Good morning everyone
Our submit date was July 18. We received our social security and EAD within 30 days.
February 25th we received notice that the Adjustment of Status was approved. We did have an RFE that we sent in quickly in January. No interview.
No update on travel document. I’m assuming because the green card was approved, the travel document is no longer necessary?
