I’m not sure how long AP takes, it has been very frustrating for my husband and I to go through this but I got an email 1st of April to go have a new medicals done so I have booked appointment for that, also got another email from my husband’s Senator as he has been making inquiries on our behalf.
The issue with my case has been resolved and once I get the new medicals, my visa will be issued, we were very happy to hear this and it took them about 90 days to conclude AP for us.
The thing about AP is that there’s no time frame but if you case is been updated often then it’s a good sign that they’re working on your case, I hope everyone will hear some good news soon.
I am so happy for both of you, I hope our case has the same outcome. Thanks.

Keep communication with embassy and get an immigration liaison if it's been more than 6 months and nothing is moving.
Thanks I will try it, hopefully it will help.

Final security checks are always only done after the interview. Not sure what is taking so long in your case (similar names, travel history, I can't say, and they won't tell you).
Best of luck in getting good news soon.
Thanks!!

Again, when you make the choice to immigrate, that is an expected part of the process. Some family-based visas are relatively quick, others take 20 years.
If periods of time apart are unacceptable, maybe immigration is not the best option.
Of course it is unacceptable, he is my husband. My point is that if Jordan is not going to approve his visa then I would have to move there since there is no other option, but is not something I want to do. We can't make any decisions, our lives are in limbo.

Imagine how long the wait would be if they did extensive security checks on candidates who, for whatever reason, won't reach the interview phase?
They do check from the start , our application was first in the USCIS for months , then to NVC for more investigation , which I don't have a problem with this, but he had the interview and was told to send additional document (he did within days), and 14 months later nothing. This is where the frustration comes in, specially when I have emailed them , please let us know any additional information they need. Nothing...... His case is currently waiting for the department's decision. How long if is 10, 11 additional months then let us know. That is my point.

coming from someone who's process took what 9 months....
when two ppl from different countries marry one person immigrates.
I get that, and there is a process that we followed..... Now what it's frustrating is that after all the paperwork and proof we sent, they also investigate, the AP takes so long from countries in the middle east. Other places don't take that long. Over 14 months in AP, please.

Good luck, keep us updated and remember, if you have been married for 2 years or longer by the time he enters the U.S. it will automatically convert to an IR-1 and he'll get a 10 year green card instead of a 2 year and you won't need to remove conditions. So there is a bright side if AP takes a while.
True , thanks .

Thanks so much, I will try and hopefully the Embassy in Amman can process the visa and finally give us an answer.
yes is a CR1 visa.

Is it a CR1 visa?
I applied for my husband almost 10 years ago and an actual person would respond to my emails but a lot has changed since then. They didn't necessarily give me details about the status of the AP but they were always very kind. I would contact a liaison but remember, they will not be able to speed up AP. The one I dealt with years ago said at least the consulate will know that we're aware that you're in AP and that we're following your case. I also live in a small state where my senators and their staff are very accessible. It won't hurt to contact them.
Thanks so much, I will try and hopefully the Embassy in Amman can process the visa and finally give us an answer.

That's quite a long time for Jordan, my husband and I were in AP for 7 weeks through Amman and I've only heard of a few other couples who were in AP longer than we were and I've been on this site since 2012. Did you have any RFE's and if so, what were they for?
Get in touch with the immigration liaison at one of your U.S. Senator's office and ask them to inquire on your behalf. They cannot speed up AP but inquiring just might get the consulate to look at your case. While we were in AP I emailed the consulate in Amman every two weeks and they always responded to my inquiries(the liaison recommended that we email). The email is listed on the consulate's website.
Also, what type of visa? And I do NOT recommend a writ of mandamus, it may not work in your favor. The visa is for my husband, and I have emailed them numerous times. Their response is : Your case has been updated, please log back into your account to view the datails.....The details are only an updated date. I really don't understand what else they want. I will try to get in contact with an immigration liaison, maybe that will help.

Yes it is, and it is an expected part of the process when we decide to immigrate or sponsor immigrants.
I understand but this AP is keeping families apart for a very long time.

We are just close to 13 months; one month short of yours, being in AP. Best option is to wait. Last resort would be to file a writ of Mandamus with the help of a lawyer. Of course, I don't know all the details of your case so.
This waiting is awful, the not knowing what the final decision will be or how long it will take.

lol..... would you rather have the truth in terms of potential length of AP, or people who will placate with false reassurances? Because VJ is full of those, too.
I do rather have the truth, this is just frustrating. Not knowing if we have to wait 1,2 months, or another 14 months.

Unfortunately, extended Administrative Processing is not uncommon for cases in that region of the world.
I guess we just have to wait.

Well, those are the facts. The only option, other than waiting, is to file a legal writ of mandamus. It might force them to make a decision. However, it does not guarantee a favorable decision. I have seen some succeed....and others fail. If they deny the case after the writ was filed, you would be forced to start all over.....and the case would, likely, be sent to extended AP again.
What country?
Jordan

That didn't help, it made me feel worse.

We have been waiting for a Department's decision for over 14 months.....how long is too long? what can we do?
Administrative Processing......How long is too long?

The response I receive always says they are waiting for the Department's decision, I often ask if there any additional information that they need, I will send it. but nothing.
