How long after did you get your i-751 interview? I had my n-400.

The officer said I’m very passable but can’t make an official approval yet because my I-751 is still stuck in Nebraska service Center so he requested it. No idea how long it’ll take.

Dud my N-400 October 2021 and did 751 February 2022 got approved on spot and status change same day for 751 in April 2022 got notice that n-400 approved and got oath in May 2022

Posting again for any advise please, we had the combo interview over a month back and NO updates.

USCIS over the phone has been extremely unhelpful, refused to expedite the review and keep saying a decision for N400 cannot be made until 751 is approved but the IO said at interview that he's approving both 751 and 400 and I should hear back in 30 days (its well over 30-days now).

I'm stuck in a limbo with NO updates after the combo interview. I contacted the Congressman and haven't heard anything yet either, does anyone have any advise? I am traveling a ton over the summer and reallyyy don't want to apply for a visa for every country.

Sorry to say but you will  just have to wait, even though the IO told you he was going to approve you there are other steps has to be taken like a supervisor has to look over your case uscis has 120 days to make a decision I was well over my 120 days before I got my n-400 approve and oath ceremony.I had to do 2 interviews one for n400 then the other for 751.so be patient your approval will come at their own convenience

I brought so much information that wasn't needed to the interview. But I felt like it was necessary to be better safe than sorry. I brought all of the original birth certificates, marriage certificate, passports, etc. and "new documents" since filing I-751/N-400. The officer did not ask for those. I gave them a copy of my newest Tax return and she took my son's birth certificate to scan a copy into the system.

As far as the questions the officer asked were simple...just full name, DOB, address, phone number. I can't recall anything else. Just simple conversation. She said that our file was complete and asked if I wanted to give her anything else. That's when I gave a copy of our latest tax return. The officer than said she was recommending approval of the I-751 and if my wife was "ready" to take the citizenship exam, because she wasn't going to issue a permanent resident card if she was ready for the exam. My wife said "yes" she was ready so I stepped out of the interview so she wouldn't have stress of me being there. It took about 15 minutes.

For the N-400 interview, my wife was asked 6 questions:

    1. Name a territory of the United States?

    2. How many Amendments to the Constitution are there?

    3. How many Supreme Court Justices are there?

    4. What is the name of the Chief Justice?

    5. What is the political party of the President?

    6. How many years is the president elected for?

Then she asked why my wife hasn't been back to the Philippines in the last 5 years and she said that was because her Philippine passport has been expired. She asked her to read a sentence and then write a sentence. Then they just talked a little while and that was all. Very informal and very easy my wife said. The Officer then said she recommended approval of her N-400 and would go tell the front office to include her in the next Oath Ceremony and to print the Certificate of Naturalization. This part took about 20-30 minutes. We waited a few hours until the next scheduled Oath Ceremony. They did the Oath and gave her the Certificate of Naturalization and then we were on our way.

I see that its finally over for you a big congratulations 🎊 👏 well done..the FOIA did work

Because IOs can’t decide anything any more and an IO that tells an applicant   that the petition is approved is technically not telling the truth.  You can find cases where applicants  are told they are approved and the written decision  takes months to arrive, or there is an RFE, or a denial, or no decision.

IOs can say they will recommend approval.  Some don’t say whether they will recommend approval or recommend denial. It’s a personal style thing.

Since she asked nothing I think it is a good sign.

Your case is strong. You’ve had children together.  I think you will be approved in under 30 days.

    btw keep those tax transcripts.

If you want to keep busy while waiting on pins and needles, then assuming your spouse has been a USA citizen for 3 years, get your  N-400 together and file.

    Wait until the interview.

You will immediately be asked where your husband is. Simply state you have separated and are divorced since joint filing, hand them a copy (not the original) of the final divorce paperwork.

They will amend - or invite you to amend -  the form you submitted by checking the divorce waiver box. From that point on it is a waiver filing.

Have the original divorce paperwork with you, including the filing (they may ask to see the grounds for divorce), and don't forget to bring all additional evidence that you have collected between the time of filing and the interview.

Not necessary. Existing joint petition & form will be amended, it isn't replaced.

Correct had my waiver interview yesterday my attorney before had filed batterd which was unknown to me as I told him I wanted divorce. The IO ask for additional evidence for batterd and I told him that my application was a divorce waiver my new Attorney was on the phone and explained the IO then draw a line in red inc pen and have me sign he then asked if I had any new evidence for a good faith marriage I told him only some recent text that he took and did not even look at lol he then asked if I had my divorce decre as he needs it to approve my case (mark you when he asked for more evidence before when he thought it batterd I had told him I had the text which he refused he wanted evidence for batterd ) he then ask name dob add and same for my Ex and ask if i knew his address told him I think he's in PA from the text he sent he said ok that all I'm planning on approving you case ..so u can make the change at interview no need for new papers. Oh by the way I got a rfe in 2020 and did sent in that I wanted to switch to a divorce and they didn't even look at it till I was at my interview

  7. Had my interview this morning and was approved I Applied in April 2019 Divorce waiver. Officer didn't ask much question very nice guy just ask name date of birth when I got married my ex husband name date of birth and ask if I knew his address I told I think his in PA that where he said the last time we spoke he was like ok thats it I'm planning on approving your case ..I left and got the call from my Attorney APPROVED!!!

I’m in pretty much same situation, I also had combo interview. I-751 was approved 10 days after the interview. The approval noticed mentioned that they approved my both applications and I won’t get a green card, instead I’ll get a oath date. But when I called they said n400 still pending review

Your lucky congrats on the approval of your 751 ..im sure they will send you your oath letter soon ..when did you apply for 751 and n400 my 120 days ends tomorrow..they said they have 120 days to make a decision I'm sure mine is going to pass the 120 ..its just so frustrating  and Sad

Finally some news: after more than 9 months waiting for a decision to be made, they finally approved my case and I am in line for oath ceremony.

I will never know exactly what caused the delay, maybe the A-file was stuck at the FRC, maybe my case was forgotten.  I had just put a second inquiry to my Senator two weeks ago, not sure either if that is what got it updated.  Maybe it was just timing, someone said here once: you just have to be patient, YES, I think I have been.  Each case is different, patience is the key.

Anyway, this thread in particular has somehow kept me from going insane at a times, so thank you all for your updates and encouragements.  I will keep checking on here and wishing everyone else waiting good luck, you will get there.

Congratulations must be super happy your done with uscis
