  1. Hi all,

I will be able to file my 1-751 to remove conditions on my CR1 spousal visa. I have upcoming travel plans and curious if I should wait to file the 1-751 or if it’s ok to travel after filing? My greencard will still be valid during my travel time, just confused if it will cause any issues to file and travel without that extension letter in hand? Read it can take 4-6 weeks to receive it but I will be back in the states by the time that arrives.

I can wait to come back to the US to file but would rather file it sooner than later if possible.

    thanks in advance!

How did you get your State ID? and what exactly is it?

I guess it’s the official ID you need to do a lot of things like open memberships, accounts, buy alcohol (I’m still not sure myself 😂

once I got my SSN I went down to the local DMV with my passport and proof of address to get it. It’s the same place you get your drivers licence etc

@Linos hey were you able to open a bank account? I went to Chase bank and they said they would be able to open an account but I will have to fill out several forms and there are more formalities involved, best to wait until I get the green card so its a smoother process.

I choose to wait since I am not really in a major rush to have a bank account here. How was your experience?

    Any updates on driver's license?

I went to BMO with my printed copy of my state ID and my passport and SSN and was able to open an account

Hi Linos! Congratulations on making it to the US. What part of the US are you residing? I am in TX and apparently there's a long backlog so after 4 weeks of waiting I just applied in person at the field office.

Thanks 🙏 I’m in Illinois (in a suburb of Chicago) I might just do that if I don’t get anything this week…just worried about getting paid 😂🥶

I've been reading over the instructions on the immigration website and came across the below and I wanted to get your thoughts on this.

Were you given your X-Rays after your medical? Are you planning on having them on you going thought customs.

    image.png.c05aad7aa5f424e37b4185835c1a58e0.png

No the X-Rays are electronically sent to the embassy after the medical as part of your results and CBP officers have access to this when they are checking your visa out on arrival (or at preclearance in Dublin airport)

  6. My CEAC status changed to issued this morning 🤩

Might be helpful for others who have to send additional docs in after the interview:
Monday 28th June - Posted documents and passport to embassy

Tuesday 29th June - Documents arrived at embassy

Wednesday 30th June - CEAC status went from refused to ready

Thursday 1st July - Status changed from ready to administrative processing to issued within an hour

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to write in here for advice.

My husband and I are processing through London Embassy. (I am in Northern Ireland hence why writing here)

We were DQ'd on 26/02/21. Its almost been 6 months.

1 month ago we received the NVC email which stated that they accepted our request for expedite.

We are STILL waiting for NVC to transfer our case to the embassy.

Our little girl hasn't seen her father in 6 months.

We are heartbroken and fed up.

Am I correct in believing that some of you have been DQ'd after February and have interviews already? We have no idea why London is taking so long.

Sorry. I know this isn't the place. We just have no idea what we are going to do anymore.

Sorry to hear that :( I am not sure what is going on with London embassy, I thought they were at a similar pace to Dublin but apparently not. I was DQed in Feb 2021 and had my interview and it looks like others in this thread who were DQed in April/May 2021 have had interviews scheduled too.

    Hey everyone,

Ended up getting a replacement interview due to the cancellation of the Juneteenth. I had my visa medical in the Mater yesterday so they had to give me my passport back for that.

I was told by the embassy to send my passport to them by DPD but when I tried they said passports are prohibited item. I asked the embassy and they said “As soon as you receive notification from the Mater Private that they have done this, please contact us again and we will update your profile to request your passport through the DPD courier service.”

Has anyone else had to do this or did you send it to them in an alternative way like registered post with An Post?

    thanks a mill

Congrats on the interview! I had to obtain Italian police reports (found out on the day of my interview last Thursday) and they also told me to post it back to them with my passport. I ended up just posting it back to them yesterday with anPost. I bought registered, express for 12 euro and it was delivered today (according to the anPost tracker) I was a little nervous but waiting for the embassy to confirm it is safely with them 🥵

Thanks for this info, this helps plan things.

Any idea if your friend received her SSN card? SSN is required for opening a bank account, getting an insurance and applying for driver's license.

I am waiting on both, I am well into 3rd week.

She received her SSN 10 days after she arrived. Paid the greencard fee 96 days ago and arrived 91 days ago

Were you able to register your interview online yet? I keep getting an error saying that case number “is not ready for appointment”.

This happened to me too - there's an email address mentioned during that registration step (I think someone shared it in this thread a few pages back) Basically you email them about the error and they unblock your case number :)

    Hi All,

The previous Dublin interview topic have been a huge support throughout our journey and I am glad to say that I have made some new friends during this pandemic over the last several months on this forum. So, a huge shoutout to the admins and the general community here! Its been quite helpful.

As we move forward in this journey I wanted to create this topic for our recent Irish immigrants who have been able to move to US in recent times and share experiences related to receiving their green card/permanent residency card and/or SSC card and how have they been dealing with settling down i.e. opening bank account, applying for drivers license etc.

I am in touch with a few folks from previous thread but thought this public info will be useful for the rest of us.

So has anybody who recently moved received their green card yet? We moved about a few weeks ago but haven't heard anything yet.

I've been in touch with another CR1 (from Spain) who is waiting 82+ days now for her green card to arrive - I think things have slowed down a lot because of covid

    Hi everyone!!

I’m looking for some shared experiences / knowledge!

I have an L-1 non-immigrant visa interview scheduled for September in Dublin. Does anyone know if these standard non-immigrant visa interviews are currently going ahead? Is this likely to be cancelled closer to the time?

To me, the website seems fairly unclear if they have actually resumed processing at a limited capacity, or if they are still cancelling these non-immigrant interviews as they approach. The recent block cancellations in London has made me wonder if my September date is actually expected to go ahead or if it's just a hopeful pencil in.

    Thank you all!

    Hello 👋

I was at Dublin embassy today for my CR1 interview and there was a woman there who was attending a work visa interview (unsure if it was an L or other) hope this helps 💕

  13. I had my interview today and was approved!! I was asked for my police certs, birth cert, marriage cert and passport with photocopy and one of my 2x2 inch photos. I wasn't asked for anything else (tax returns/w2s/photos/DS-260). The woman at the first window who took my docs was super nice and calmed my nerves a little. She noted that because my father is Italian and I hold dual citizenship I need to also provide Italian police certificates, even though I never lived in Italy (no biggie as I ordered them just in case).

I was called up for the interview about 5-10mins later and was asked 4 questions by a super friendly interviewer...How did you meet your spouse? How many times did he come over to visit you? What kind of work did you do in Sweden and what happened when I was turned away at Dublin airport (denied entry and esta revoked for not having sufficient evidence of ties to Ireland). She was very friendly and just said once you get the italian police certs send them (free DPD delivery) back to us along with your passport and you're all set :)  I was in and out in about 30mins!!!

Have you renounced your Italian Citizenship?

I have never formally renounced (completely clueless about how these things work). I haven’t renewed my Italian passport since my last one expired and never lived in Italy, I am unsure what my status actually is but I will request police certs from Italy just in case it comes up at the interview.

  15. This is a random one but hoping someone has some knowledge on this:

I am preparing for my CR1 interview next week and while double checking the documents I need to prep I noticed this "POLICE CERTIFICATES:  Each applicant aged 16 years or over is required to submit a police certificate from all other countries where the applicant has resided for at least six months and any country they are a           citizen of.

My father is Italian and I have had italian passports as a child (last one expired around 10-15 years ago) I am not sure what my status is (if I am an italian citizen/national by blood). I have never lived in Italy...Do I need to obtain an italian police certificate?
