  2. I have a question...

When I originally, joined vj, and completed the time line info..such as where we filed our petition and so forth, I put texas service center. When in reality it was transferred and filed at the California service center. Whin the week I have noticed that our time line has jumped from a Dec 6th adudicated date to January 24th 08, to now february 1st.

Someone suggested that I change the service center from texas to california in our profile, to see if it would make a difference.

I went to control panel and chaged it, but the change is not appearing in our timeline. It is still saying, filed at texas service center.

Does anyone know if it will update in a few hours perhaps? Is there something else I need to do?

    Thanks

    Steph

The timeline is only an estimate based on the data provided by users on this site. The two service centers have about the same approval time now, so it likely doesn't matter which service center you select.

so another words, you have no idea how to change the service center info in the time line? If anyone else can help, it would be much appeciated.

    Thanks

  4. I'd think that all this timing thing, depends on wich service center you're filling at actually...

    Regards,

    V.

CSC is currently working on May June and some of July. they havent gotten to August yet.

VSC is even slower. they have just started to process June filers. So like i said, no one has gotten to August filers yet and they wont for 3 weeks to a month regardless the service center they file at.

    exactly! :)

  5. Do you remember being a child, during the weeks before Christmas? For me, it's one of the most visceral memories of my childhood. During the weeks before Christmas I would make plans about what I wanted to receive as gifts, and what I would do with my new found treasures. I'd pour over the catalogs and drool over the displays in the stores. During those first days everything seemed wonderful and each day held the promise of the special day that was to come. But Christmas day was too far away to seem real. Then, all of a sudden, it would be December and Christmas would seem so close. At my house, we had this Santa Claus wall decoration that showed how many days there were before Christmas. On December 1 we would put it up on the wall, and each day when we came home from school it was always so exciting to take off the current number and replace it with a new number, 1 less than before. When it got to 9 days (single digits!) left until Christmas, the magic in the air was palpable. It became more difficult to get through each day, the excitement was so high. Then it would be December 24, and the Santa Claus on my wall would say there was only 1 day left. That night there would be little if any sleep as I listened in the dark for the sound of reindeer on the roof. I couldn't wait for the morning when I could race down the stairs and see what was under the tree. All the long days of waiting would finally be over, and I would be able to hold in my hands all the things I would treasure for the next year. The long wait would be forgotten, behind me, in the past. Ahead would be only happy days full of new experiences.

My friends, the wait for the visa for Natasha reminds me of those days. It is not December yet in my wait, so there is no Santa Claus on my wall telling me how many days are left. But soon we will have NOA2, and some days or short weeks after that we will have our interview date, and our December will have come. And the present that awaits me is far better and more valuable than any Christmas present I have ever received, or could ever receive (sorry, Mom). And at the end of my wait, when the counter on the wall reads only one day remaining, I will once again be unable to sleep. And then my day will have arrived, and I will be in Moscow with my Natasha. My long wait will be forgotten, behind me, in the past, and I will at last hold my angel Natasha in my arms as my wife. And ahead will be only happy days full of new experiences, and I will treasure my Natasha forever.

KGSodie, you have just made me emotional. In a good way.

    Thanks for this post.

    Beautiful...

  6. I am wondering how many other early June filers out there are still waiting for their NOA2. Our NOA1 date is June 5 (CSC) and everyone else after us seems to be getting approvals. We haven't gotten any touches since June.

Any thoughts? Is this normal? I thought they processed them in the order received.

    Thanks VJers,

    Kelah and Ramiro

I think they process on how easy the petitions are and how thorough the petition packet is prepared. I dont know if this is helping now, but I literally made tabs on each of form divisions in my packet and binded it on a 2hole punch binder clip so its easy for them to select and go through my packet. Maybe your packet is just under mine. Hang in there.. and remember to be patient. Good luck!!

Im a June sender (June 22) /July Filer (July 2) according to my NOA1 receipt date, and I just received my NOA2 in the mail today.. WHooohaa!!!

I don't think that the way that each petition is prepared or how easy it is has anything to do with how soon a case is processed. After all, once they recieve the petition, it is taken a part, re assembled and put into the order that they prefer. Tabs and divisions are pointless really. :) But I guess they make the petitioner feel better.

Your going to get your noa2 any day now...I can feel it! :)

  7. Well,

My fiance noticed and I just made sure that, K1 filers from August (like us) have no RFE's so far (based on the time line data).

And this either has to be a real neat fact or is there a total mess waiting for us later?

I really, really hope that the worst is not to happen, because any more waiting regarding to this matter would be so unfair! We're almost in time to feel even more nervous waiting for the NOA2 ...receiving RFE notices just then would suck!

So does anyone has anything to comment about it? Have anyone gotten an actual RFE?

(maybe we're two goobers and didn't find any :) I don't know if I hope someone got one or not haha)

    Regards,

    Vanessa.

ummm....it's still early for you. You could still very well receive an rfe. So could the rest of August filers. June filers and july filers for that matter.

  8. A joke that affects so many people anxiously waiting to be reunited with a loved one is NOT, in the least, funny.

I suspected that it was a joke a few seconds after I read it. Most here, wouldn't have taken the "bait" anyway. Even if the service center was shut down temporarily, which it's not....I'm guessing it would be shut down for a few hours tops.

Give me a break. What a lame joke. Calinurse, there is noway that you could possibly no the meaning of love. I would venture to guess that you have never experienced it in any capacity what so ever. If and when you ever do find someone and allow your self to love, I hope that you are never seperated from him/her. No. I take that back. Maybe one day you will experience the seperation of being a part from someone that you love more than life itself. Maybe, just maybe, you will be seperated by an entire ocean. Or an entire continent. It is not an easy thing to deal with on a daily basis. There are given moments, when it is down right painful. You wouldn't know the feelings that I have desrcibed, because if you did, you would not have posted a cruel lie, just to momentarily steal the hope of some who would initial beleive a post such as this.

    last note...

if this post turns out to be true, I will be the first to apologize. But somehow, I suspect there is not one ioda of thruth behind it.

    I'm finished rambling.

    keep the faith vj's

    love you all!

  9. I don't know about the illegality of flying another flag over the american flag but I know for a fact that damaging and then stealing another person's property is against the law.

If this aired on the news there and the american man who was caught on camera damaging that shop owners property and then stealing his flag was not arrested and prosecuted there is something seriously wrong with this.

I don't think the man that took down the flag has anything to worry about. I seriously doubt that the shop owner will press charges over the man taking The american flag. After all. The shop owner has no respect for "our" flag or "our" great nation, or he would not have placed the Mexican flag above ours.

The shop owner definately did not care that the guy walked away with "our" flag. geez

Two thumbs up for the veteran. There needs to be more like him. Especially in our Government.

This video has made me cringe.

  10. Ok, so from people's experience, after their case has been marked received and pending, what is the typical turnaround time from that point? When can I TYPICALLY (barring any issues with my petition) expect to receive an NOA2? I know that each case is different, so I'm asking for an "on average" answer. If anyone wants to share their personal experience that would be great. Thanks!

If I were you, I'd be thinking in terms of 150 to 180 days at this time.

APPROVED!!!!!!!! I GOT NOTICE LAST NIGHT THAT I WAS APPROVED!!!!!!!

  11. Hello again everyone.

I visit this site daily. After reading thousands of post, I have a few questions that I have wanted to ask for a while now.

What is the RFE trick that so many people talk about on here?

Can someone explain to me what biometrics is?

What is an infopass appointement exactly? When is this needed?

I feel silly for asking these question, but if I don't ask,I will never know. :)

    Thanks

  14. Hello Everyone,

My fiance, wants to drive his vehicle from Canada to the United States once his visa is approved. The problem is that his vehicle is old. 1987 Nissan pick Up truck :)

He knows that it will not pass an emissions test, and is worried that he might not be able to get it tagged in the United States because of it.

Would the border patrol still allow him to cross with his vehicle regardless of the shape it is in? We have also heard that they could possible allow him to cross with the stipulation that he could only drive it in the U.S. for a certain length of time. Does anyone know if this is true? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

General Tips on Assembling Applications for Mailing

Mark both the envelope and the cover letter as to the nature of the submission. Example: ORIGINAL SUBMISSION - BRIEF FOR AN APPEAL - RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - etc.

Use the appropriate mailing address and mark both the envelope and the cover letter as to the form type. Example: I-129; I-130; I-690; I-698, etc.

Provide both the receipt notice number and the A-Number as an identifier, if they are available.

If the packet is being resubmitted in response to a REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE (RFE), please place the notice requesting the additional evidence/information on the top of the packet. Also, please use the special mailing envelope provided.

If evidence is being submitted in support of a previously filed appeal or motion, a cover letter stating "BRIEF FOR APPEAL", etc., should be placed on top of the packet.

In preparing your packet, please take note of the following:

Do not use binders or folders that cannot be easily disassembled.

Use ACCO fasteners to hold together thick or bulky applications or petitions. Two-hole punching the top of the material for easy placement in the file is appreciated.

The use of tabs assist in locating items listed as attachments. The tabs should be placed on the bottom and not the side for ease in filing.

Avoid using heavy-duty staples; instead use ACCO fasteners or heavy clips.

Avoid submitting originals unless specifically required. Avoid submitting oversized documentation when possible.

If you are sending more than one case in an envelope, clearly separate the cases by rubber band or clip fasteners.

A form G-28 is not acceptable unless signed by the authorized representative and the petitioner (re: petitions) or the applicant (re: applications). Facsimile signature stamps are acceptable for the signature of the representatives. However, applicants/petitioners must live sign the initial Form G-28 submitted with the application/petition. Any subsequent Form G-28 relating to the same case may be a photocopy of the original, which should be already attached to the relating case.

Send copies of any prior approval notices with any new requests for extensions of stay, change of status or amended petitions.

Keep copies of all submissions. Don't assume the officer will have access to a prior file or record. Submit as complete a packet as possible so the case can be adjudicated from what you submit. Submit a complete packet of information for each petition or application. If officers have to review prior files or records, the adjudication of the case can be delayed substantially.

Be sure to complete all pertinent items on the petition or application. Ensure all entries on the forms are legible. Note the appropriate consulate, embassy, or a request to adjust status on the petition. Do note enter "N/A" when "None" is appropriate.

If you believe your situation to be unique, explain it fully in an attachment to the packet, not as a cover letter.

Please submit certified translations for all foreign language documents. The translator must certify that s/he is competent to translate and that the translation is accurate.

The certification format should include the certifier's name, signature, address, and date of certification. A suggested format is:

    Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

    Signature_________________________________

    Date Typed Name

    Address

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.

At the discretion of the officer, original documents may still be required in individual cases. Please be advised that USCIS no longer returns original documents submitted with the exception of Certificates of Naturalization, Forms I-551, Permanent Resident Card, Forms I-94, Arrival/Departure Document, valid passports, or those specifically requested by the officer. Such documents will be returned when they are no longer needed.

Reminder: The best way to locate records is through the receipt number and/or the A-Number. Always provide this information whenever possible. If you don't know the A-Number, provide a COMPLETE name and date of birth. ALSO: Provide ANY AND ALL names used by the individual, including aliases, maiden names, names used when originally admitted to the United States, etc. Providing this information is extremely helpful and speeds up processing time.

DUPLICATE FILINGS (without fee): Cases will be accepted as a duplicate filing only when USCIS has specifically requested that a duplicate be filed. In such a case be sure to submit the receipt number of original filing or any copies of notices received from USCIS on the first filing when submitting a duplicate petition or application.

The address block on the forms is the data field captured for all of our mailings. Consistent with the limitations on the number of characters per line (a maximum of 32) and the total numbers of lines

    blah blah blah....

Like I said....I have no idea what I was thinking when I assembled our I29f packet without fastening it together in some way, shape or form. But I can't worry about it at this point, What's done is done. I just pray that documents will not be lost, or the entire petition for that matter. Thanks for everyones reply. I appreciate it so much.

    Kindest Regards

    Steph

  17. Hello Everyone,

This is my first time posting here, but I read topics from this site daily. My fiance and I mailed our petition at the end of June and it was not received by the California service center until July 5th. My question is this; When I assembled our petition for mailing, I did not use fasteners, clips of any sort to hold the petition and supporting documents together. I simply placed all paper work loosly in a large envelope and mailed it. I did not find this site until after the fact, which is unfortunate. I guess I assumed that the service center would put the petition in the order that they preferred. I am now extremely concerned that parts of the petition could get misplaced, if it hasn't allready. In everyones oppinion, do you think that we have anything to be worried about? I need some sort of peace of mind. I'm an absolute mess over this.

    Thank You....
