  1. U should move to Saskatchewan, if ur calling within the city, you dont even add the area code, lol

I hope you get your appointment date soon. I called them on the 7th and i have to wait till the 24th for my medical exam because i wasnt in a "hurry" since i didnt have my interview date lol

We dont have to do dial the area code if you're dialing within edmonton or its surrounding cities....

    <--edmontonian

My fiance called, and apparently the doctor will be gone the entire month of February? He will have to wait until march for the medical if he wants it done in edmonton. We are now checking into Calgary. Bigger expense, but we want the medical out of the way.

Glad everything is coming together for you all. :)

  2. did u call the 2nd # I listed (403) 424-3527

    as well I noticed on 411.ca that the 780-488-2232 # also has the 204 area code 204 488 2232

Ok...the # you gave me was correct. I was dialing a 1 before the area code because I assumed that was what I had to do being that I'm in the states and it is a long distance call.

    Geez...

    Thanks for you help flames...

  3. Dr. H.S. Chana

    9937 113th St

    Edmonton, AB

780-488-2232 Im assuming the one in embassy reviews is incorrect?

    try

    Dr. H. S. Chana, Room 460, Professional Bldg., 10830 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, Alta. T5J 2B3 (403) 424-3527

This # is no longer current.....Tried to call...wrong number.

  4. Has anyone ever requested a specific interview date at the consulate in Vancouver? I'm just wondering if we could request a specific date(middle of February) when we fax our checklist back? Or, how would we go about this?

    Thanks

    Steph and Muz

It looks like we're on the exact same timeline lol. Van consulate got ours on the 28th and was mailed out on the 3rd to my house. Will you 2 be going together for the interview? Amber and I were thinking of a mid feb interview as well. Maybe we'll see you guys if you go with your Canadian Fiance :P Dont be shy to say "hi" if we do run into each other hahahaha.

Yeah, you never know...maybe we will see each other. You too Aschaal03....

Soon as we have our date..I'll post here...

    ;)

  5. I requested first available date (sent in my check list on dec 31st) and i got Jan 23rd. By the your timeline, it doesnt appear that you received packet 3 from vancouver yet. they are scheduling interviews now not far off from the date you are looking for. i dont think you will have a prob getting in around the time you want. Maybe request "frist available appointment after feb 10th" for example.

    Thanks so much G&A...

Our packet 3 was mailed out yesterday. We should receive it soon. Thanks for the example, much clearer now.

  6. Well, let's hope then that you hear from the consulate before you interview, and get a copy of that form if that is what you need. I don't know what your schedule is like, but if worse comes to worse, I suppose you'll have to get other "form", and then they'll issue your visa after receiving it like jenmac75 had to. Hopefully though the one you have is what you'll need!

Sorry I couldn't help you more than I did. Best of luck at your interview, let us know when you know!

    Carla (F)

Spoke to a really nice lady today from the consulate in Vancouver. She cleared up the issue of the police report from New Zealand. The one that we obtained from the ministry of justice is all that we will need for my fiances interview. We do not have to sign a release form for the consulate to send off for it. Like the lady said...why would they send off for the same police report that we allready have? It would make no sense. So now we feel much better no longer being in the dark.

    *sighs*

How did you get someone to actually talk to you on the phone from the vancouver consulate? whenever i call.. all they tell me is that they dont speak with people over the phone directly and im always told to write them an email (WHICH THEY DONT RESPOND TO!) Did you dial a different number? or whats up? i wanna talk to someone instead of waiting for a never coming email. thanks :)

When I called the consulate, a recording stated that they would not accept calles regarding k visas. So I was under the same impression. Like I have said in previous posts...I have been eailing continuously with no responses. I finally decided to take a different approach and began sending the same email with my questions several times a day under different accounts. I put my phone number in the email as well.

I was contacted this morning. One thing you should know...I was told that I should have been putting the case # in the email. I'm not sure why, but this is what I was told.

    Good luck!

  7. This is the key point:

Overseas applicants should contact the U.S. consular office processing their cases to obtain a form authorizing release of police information. The authorization form should be completed, signed and returned to the processing consular post, who will then forward the request to the U.S. consul in Auckland for forwarding to the New Zealand police. The completed clearance will be returned to the requesting consular post, not to the applicant.

I have attempted to contact the u.s. consulate in Vancouver canada where my fiance will have his interview. I have sent a total of 3 emails regarding the release form. I have not had one email replyed to. Just today I faxed my question regsrding obtaining a release form. No response. I have even tried calling. They do not accept questions regarding k1 visias. We are at a total loss. I am mentally drained.

Worst case scenario it will delay 6-8 weeks. The embassy in Taiwan sent us the document at the time the interview was scheduled at the embassy. If it works out the same as ours did, it depends on the amount of time between the interview date and and the date the document is sent to you. In our case its 1 month, so we have so far had a one month delay. Additionally, you can apply for the police certificate yourself and take it with you. There is a case here in visa journey when a hand carried NZ police certificate was accepted in Australia. You can search for it. You might get lucky and the person doing the interview doesn't know this special rule for New Zealand.

  9. Hi,

Sorry I forgot to paste that link in my previous post. Read what jenmac75 says in her Consulate review, and then maybe send her a message or email. It looks like she was on-line here on VJ yesterday.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry1264579

    Hope this helps.

    Carla (F)

Thanks for the link Carla. I actally emailed her on 12/27/07 regarding this very issue. She seems to think that we will be fine with the police report that we obtained from The ministry of Justice in new Zealand. Ohter think that the report that we have will not be good enough and that the consulate wants the same report that we have mailed to them directly. So who knows. This is why I have been trying to contact the consulate, with no luck of course. It is all just so frustrating.

    Thanks for your help!

  10. Does anyone have any idea as to how long it normally takes a petition to get from the NVS to the consulate in Vancouver?

Our petition arrived at the NVS ON 12/17/07. We have not received packet three yet. I have not even attempted to call the NVC. I am trying to be patient.

    Another question...

Has anyone had any trouble emailing/getting a response from the consulate in Vancouver? I have sent three emails and a fax regarding a question I have about my fiance police certificate from New Zealand. No one has ever responded. I have even attempted to call, but received a recording stating that they would not take calls regarding k visas.

We are at a total loss at this point. I am completely mentally drained.

So sorry you're stressed not having heard any replies to your questions. Is there anything WE can help answer you? I know of one memeber here who was interviewed in Vancouver, and had to get a police certificate from New Zealand. Is THAT a coincidence or what?? Anyway, perhaps we can help. Doesn't hurt to try!

Hope you hear something soon as well. I agree with flames that there is usually a shortage of staff in December, and while they don't do as many K's in Vancouver, surely that's not all they do.

    Carla (F)

This is the exact email that I have been sending to the consulate in Vancouver.

    To whom it may concern;

My fiancé is originally from New Zealand. He now lives in Canada and will have his k1 interview soon. Do we need to obtain a release form, so that the U.S. consulate in Vancouver can request for my fiancés police report from New Zealand? Or will the one that we have obtained from the ministry of justice in New Zealand be sufficient at the interview?

If we need to sign a release form, please tell us how to go about getting this form.

We need to know soon, because we have heard that it could take up to 8 weeks for the Vancouver consulate to receive the police report from New Zealand, if in fact we need to sign a release form.

    Thank You

    Stephanie

I would love it if we could get some straight answers. I have attempted to post this exact questions in several of the forums. I have even sent personal messages to people associated with New Zealand here on VJ. IF you could help, this would be great.

    thanks

I actually meant NVC not NVS. Geez

  14. Hi all,

    Question....

When my fiance goes for his interview in Vancouver, am I going to need banking statements showing all my deposits and withdrawel, history, etc., even if I make above the poverty line?

    Thanks

    Steph

  15. Im wondering too....I spoke to the people at the consulate who told me that the PCC had to be through them ( even though we have one already from the Ministry of Justice!! )...the US Immigration site says the same....it doesnt mention the Ministry of Justice....

At this point I am completely confused. Like I said in my last post....The address on the department of states website is the same address on the ministry of justice website(new zealand). So the pcc request would be going to the same place.

So how would do we contact the consulate? Are you talking about the consulate in new zealand?

    omg I'm so confused.

  16. I believe the PCC has to be via the consulate general...My fiance' got it thru Ministry of Justice and was told that it wont be valid!!

    Department of State

For Nonimmigrant Visa Applicants: Available through the Department of the Courts. The applicant should request the “Wanganui Computer Record” in writing, giving his or her full name, date and place of birth, sex, and nationality. The request must be signed and should be addressed to:

    Privacy Officer

    Department of the Courts

    P.O. Box 2750

    Wellington, New Zealand

Faxed requests are unacceptable. It takes approximately five working days from receipt of request for the Department of the Courts to issue a report.

    Ministry of justice

    Police Clearance Certificate’

The Ministry of Justice is frequently asked to provide a ‘Police Certificate’ or a ‘Police Clearance’ for persons who wish to apply for residence in a foreign country. In New Zealand, there is no such document. However, you can apply for a copy of your conviction records (which you can then show to another party if you wish).

    The Privacy Unit

    Ministry of Justice

    National Office

    PO Box 2750

    Wellington

The address for the Ministry of justice is the same as the address given on the department of state web site.

How is the PCC not valid if obtained through ministry of justice? Just wondering...
