  1. I just checked the USCIS Website processing times under the local office section. (Our local office will be In Louisville Kentucky.) The processing times for Application for employment authorization says December 25 2006. Does this mean that they are just now processing apps from December? I this is so, then I'm guessing that we may not get the ead at all? We will have to wait on the green card?

I also noticed the california service center says that the employment authorizaton time frame is February 15 2008. Why is it that some eads are processed through california service center and others are processed through local offices?

    Thanks

  2. I would call that POE and ask to speak to a supervisor. Just tell them that you are concerned because the officer told you the packet would be kept at that office and you have since then found out it is in fact supposed to be sent to USCIS for AoS. That's what I would do.

Try this link for the phone#. I couldn't tell which port you entered through, but this is the list for Montana. click here

Coutts is the same POE as Sweetgrass, Montana...

yes that is correct. I called the POE a little while ago and they assured me that the packet would be forewarded. We feel releived.

Thanks for all the info. everyone! Much appreciated....

  3. The USCIS will put out a tracer.... If it never is found, the worst that can happen to you I believe is a request for a redo of the medical.

The officer probably just doesn't know anything past where they place the envelope at the end of their shift. If you have concerns, contact the in charge officer at the POE directly.

    Thanks for the advice everyone!!!

    One last question...

If the packet is not shipped to USICS or if it is lost, will my fiance not be able to get a socal security number? How does all of this affect the social security number?

  4. Hello everyone...

I have a quick question. Muz and I made entry into the states from Canada on Thursday(We drove across into couts Montana). Our experience was absolutely horrible. We were treated as if we were common criminals by a female border patrol guard. I'll write more about our experience when I have more time.

    Our concern is this...

After Muz's visa was activated, I ask the guard what exactly would happen to the packet that the consulate had given muz. (the white packet that was habded over at the border)

The guard stated that the packet would sat there at the port of entry. I was schocked. I was under the impression that it would be sent to our local office? california service center? Anywhere but being kept there?

what exactly happens to the packet that is surrenedered at the border? If it does end up staying at the port of entry, what will happen when we go to adjust status?

    Thanks

    Steph and Muz

What happens if the packet is never shipped to our local office? What if it stays at the port of entry, like she stated that it would?

Any help or info will be appreciated..

    Thanks

  5. Wow, what happened? :(

    I'm so sorry (F)

  8. Please forgive this question, but I have to ask because I honestly have no idea.

Can anyone tell me if biometrics, info pass and ajustment of status interview will all be at the same place/office?

I live in Northern Kentucky, and am trying to figure out where my fiance will have to go to when the time comes.

If we would need to make an infopass appointment, how do we know where to go?

    Thanks

  10. http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/

    http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import...anada07032.html

has info on importing ur car--especially the phone #'s of each manufacturer!! Some dont charge any $$, some do!! Nissan didnt charge me anything and faxed it to me within minutes!! I ended up selling my car prior to moving

I got my compliance letter faxed yesterday..freaking $89.25 from GM. That's ridiculous..no wonder their sells are down.

Jarett's muscle car doesn't pass the emissions requirement, but I called EPA and apparently if a vehicle is over 21 years of age it is exempt. Hallelujah! I would NOT have been happy because we would NOT be leaving in 2 days! :)

    But it's all good..we're ok..I'm happy again! :)

We were told that a vehicle has to be 25 years or older to be exempt. I'm once again now confused.

  11. Now that we have the visa in hand, we are trying to familiarize ourselves as much as possible with the AOS process. I have a question about the Local CIS office we will be attending for biometrics/interview and such.

After marriage, my fiance and I will be living in Northern Kentucky. There is a Local CIS office in Louisville Ky which is 1 hour and 30 minutes away from us. There is also a Local CIS office located in Cincinnati Ohio which is 5 minutes from where we will live.

Will our file get sent to the nearest Local CIS office, (which would be in Cincinnati) or will it be sent to the office in the state in which we will live?

    Completely unsure...

    Thanks

    Steph

  12. congrats !!!

but i wonder... what is the OF-167 ????

Oh my memory is terrible. I beleive it is sort of a continuation of the affidavit of support? It was a form that came with packet 3 for the petitioner. If I remember correctly, I had to write in the address where my fiance would be moving to and sign it.

  13. Muz’s Visa was granted!!

Our interview was on April 17th at 1:00 p.m. in Vancouver. That morning several hours before, we went over our check list. We put everything in the exact order that the consulate would request it, or so we thought.

After we checked and re checked our paper work, we left our hotel and ate breakfast. Muz became more nervous as 1:00 came closer and closer. I was a bit nervous as well, but hid it as best I could.

We left for the consulate about 12:10. By the time we parked and walked to the consulate it was about 12:35. (note) the day before we did a test run to the consulate just to make sure we knew where we were going. We parked in front of the consulate and walked over to the main door. We asked the guard about remote control built into our car key. He said that it would be fine to bring in. Had we not been aloud, we figured that we would take a taxi.)

We arrived about 12:35. No line at all. We went through the door and came to the first check point. We both had to show our pass ports as well as the appointment letter. We had brought with us a ton of evidence, including 3 albums of photos that Muz had taken weeks to create, cards, phone records, emails, scrap books etc. We had to empty our pockets, and then go through a medal detector.

We then went up a flight of stairs and went through a door. We were then ushered onto an elevator and taken to the 20th floor. When we got off of the elevator, we went threw another check point. The same procedure. We then went threw another door and sat down in a waiting area.

Within a few minutes, we were called to a window. The order in which we had placed our documentation was not in the order in which they requested it. They did not even request half of what we brought. They first asked for my divorce decree from a previous marriage. (They did not need my original marriage certificate), affidavit of support and OF-167 and tax transcripts. (They didn’t ask to see my original birth certificate.) They asked for Muz’s divorce decree and marriage certificate from a previous marriage, ds156 duplicate, ds156k ,birth certificate, medical, police certificates and receipt for payment, $131 I believe? They did not need his xray.

After they collected the paper work, we were told to take a seat in the waiting area and would be called for finger printing around 2:00. We sat there for about an hour. Now I could be wrong about this, but there are two cameras in the waiting area. I believe that we were being observed for the entire hour we were sitting there waiting to be finger printed. I’ll tell you why, in just a sec.

Muz of course loves to talk and laugh. At times it is non stop. lol…He is affectionate by nature. Of course this was displayed as we were sitting there. We appeared to be happy. Because we are!!

Around 2:00 we heard Muz’s name called to window B. We went to window B and there was a nice lady behind the glass. We assumed he was going to be finger printed at that point. The lady had a smile on her face and asked me (the petitioner) how we met. I told her. Then I was asked what I did for a living. Then she asked Muz what he did for a living. After she asked Muz what he did for a living, it hit me. Could this be the interview?

We both thought he was going to be finger printed, and then the interview would take place.

When we both finally realized that the interview had just taken place, Muz cracked a joke and said, you’re going to at least look at our albums aren’t you? She smiled and shrugged her shoulders and said, “if you insist”. She flipped through one page and closed it.

She read aloud as she typed into her computer that we were an extremely, extremely happy couple. I guess they have to type in the findings of the interview and such. Like I said, I believe that we were being observed the entire time we were sitting in the waiting area. So for anyone, interviewing at the Vancouver consulate, or anywhere for that matter….be sure to talk and converse with your SO as you wait in the waiting area. And if I’m totally off base with my theory, so be it. She had no idea that we were an extremely, extremely happy couple just by a 2 minute interview. We were being observed!

After the 2 minute interview, we were told that we needed to go and by a large express post envelope. We left the consulate and went across the street to Canada post. We then went Back to the consulate, went through the same two check points back to the 20th floor. Muz was then finger printed, and we presented the envelope.

Before we left, we were given a copy of Muz’s vaccination record from dr. chanas office. I believe this is the ds 230? For adjustment of status when he gets to the states.

That was it. We received an email yesterday from the consulate. Muz’s visa has been shipped. 

    Easy peasy……

    Steph and Muz

  14. You need some company? This is very odd, no offense.....I suggest you make a friend on the plane.

    Hey,

I'm not understanding why this is odd, haha. I HATE airplane rides myself, and can tolerate them a lot easier if I have company as well. It's no fun to sit on an airplane for like 15 hours alone watching the same movies over and over again. ;)

You're right it is nice to have a friend by your side. I just thought it was odd to have someone randomly asking here on VJ. Maybe if they knew a few of the people here really well that is more understandable.

It is understandable regardless of wether you know anyone on here or not. I understand completely. Have a great flight Nathan Neran!!!! :)

  15. Go to the New Zealand Ministry of Justice web site to get it. This is what my fiance did. For him however, the certificate that he received from New Zealand is useless. My fiance will be having his interview in Vancouver Canada. The consulate contacted him through mail to let him know that he would have to sign a third party request form. The consulate sent him this form in the mail. My fiance signed the release form, mailed in back to vancouver. Vancouver sends it to New Zealand, New Zealand sends the police certificate back to Vancouver. Takes approximately two months to receive the police certificate from New Zealand. We have our interview on 4/17. We are praying that the new zealand police certificate will make it back to Vancouver before the interview.

    Good Luck!

  16. they keep a copy of the medical exam on file. its worth a try getting a copy of the ds 3025. gooooooooodluck! Surprisingly the office wasnt too bad to me. maybe its because im a guy and they're used to deal with catty women lol

Muz did not completely have an awful experience during the medical in Edmonton. However he did have to wait quite a while for the xray. It was as if they had forgot about him. He finally got up and reminded them that he was there. They aslo refused to mail his medical results. We had to find some one in Edmonton, pay them, and have them mail his results to him. He lives 6 hours away from Edmonton. So he couldn't casually drive there to pick his forms up. To boot they waited 9 days before they informed him that they would not mail the results. So much for checking the mail daily.

I have just had another thought...

Muz did not have to have the chicken pox vaccinaton. He had the pox as a child. Like I said, all he has as far as proof of his vaccinations are on the immunization card. As of right now, we have no proof that he "didn't" need to get the chicken pox vaccination. So on the immunization card, it would appear as if he plain and simply hasn't had it, when in reality he dosen't need it. He's immune.

So we do in fact need that DS-3025(vaccination documentation worksheet) to prove that he didn't need the c. pox shot.

    good grief

  17. Your fiance needs to try and get a copy of that DS-3025.

    Heres the kicker...

Immigration Doctor in Edmonton Canda, where my finace had his medical, no longer does immigration medicals. I guess we could still possibly inquire about getting the DS-3025 from them. I will also contact the Doctor In texas, who transcribes onto the vaccination supplements, to see if his immunization card, etc. with the shots that he has received will be all that we need.

Getting the DS-3025 FROM the doc in Edmonton will not be a gentle task I'm sure. Dealing with that office has been no walk in the park.

  18. Dr, L.E Arnold

    512-444-3131

You can give her a call it is worth $ 20.

    God bless..

Thats who i used to transcribe my vaccination. She was quick and professional and i got it back in a week. I've heard of others paying over 100 bucks for theirs done with people closer to their homes

Ok, but do you guys think that not allready having it on Form DS-3025(vaccination documentation worksheet) will make a difference? All we have is the adult immunization card, etc.

  19. Question for you guys....

When my fiance had his medical in edmonton canada, he was never given a copy of the Form DS-3025(vaccination documentation worksheet?)

All he has is his BC Health passport listing his mmr shot and his Alberta adult immunization card, listing his tetnus shot and the date given.

    My question is...

Will we have trouble getting the vaccination info. put onto the vaccination suplement form I-693A Without the info. being on form DS-3025 first?

I have read on here some where that there is a CS doctor in Texas that will transfer info. onto I-693A For A Small fee. All we have to do is fax the info. to them. I just don't know if faxing the immunization card, and BC health passport (which is the only thing showing the immunizations given) will be sufficient.

Any info/imput would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
