  1. This is probably going to sound silly, but I have to ask because I'm becoming paranoid about it. I completed the affidavit of support form today and had the notary sgn and put the seal on it. The dilema; She used blue ink instead of black. Does it matter? :wacko:

    Thanks

    Steph

  2. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to get packet 4 in the mail after the check list is faxed back to the consulate in Vancouver?

    Thanks

    Steph

  3. We were notifed yesterday by the doctor in Edmonton that they are no longer mailing out medical forms and xrays. We have to find some way to pick them up. My fiance lives over 6 hours away from Edmonton. So for all of you who plan to have your medical done in Edmonton, keep in mind that they no longer mail results back. Funny how my fiance was not notified of this before he got his medical done there.

  4. Hi,

    When the panel physician mails the medical results and chest xray back to my fiance, can he open the packet and the xray? Or should this be opened by the officer doing the interview?

    Thanks

  5. How were the documents not "offical" enough? You probably should not have mailed them, but took them with you to your next appointment.

    Try putting your case number in the subject line of your email and see if this helps.

    You'll get it ll sorted. I'm sure of it!

    :)

  6. Which Dr are you going to? Some of the panel physician's in Canada provide a copy of teh vaccine supplement?

    Is he really missing that many? Most folks growing up in Canada have had them all or are maybe missing an adult tetnus or something

    He is from New Zealand, and has had none, zero, zilch. Sounds odd to me too. He will be seeing the doctor in Edmonton.

    When the time comes to adjust status, and we need proof of the vaccines that he received...I guess we will just have the docs office fax proof of some sort. I have no idea about any of this stuff, or if we even need proof. It is completely foreign to me. But I decided today that I am no longer going to worry about any of it any longer. We'll cross bridges when we come to them.

  7. My fiance goes for his medical and vaccines in a few days. He will be receiving all of his vaccines during the medical. When we go to adjust his status after he enters the states, he will have to get a second series of shots, because he will not have time to get them while in canada, because the interview date is so close.

    How will we prove to the doctors in the united states what shots he still will need? Should my fiance ask for a copy of the vaccines that he will receive during the medical, for adjustment of staus?

    Thanks

  8. Honestly, you're better off purchasing the vehicle in the US. They are so much cheaper here. We just bought a Nissan in November. In order to get the 2.9% financing the dealer just called someone at Nissan Canada for a copy of my credit report. He said it wasn't a problem.

    I also imported a car from Canada. It's not that big of a deal. But I didn't have any liens against it so I have no idea how that impacts importation. I believe there is someone on the board who did have a lien, and all they did is continue to make their car payments from here. One other thing to note.... if the car is purchased within a certain period of time prior to importation (I think it's one year) you are subject to import duty. Anything older than that and it's not a problem.

    Thanks Krikit...

    Did you get the car in your name alone or was your so name on the loan also? My fiances credit is perfect in canada, and we too also thought about having a dealership just pull his credit report, but we are worried about him not having a job for at least 3 months after he enters the country. Do you think that him not having a job will make a difference when trying to get a car loan?

  9. Being that my fiance will have no credit in the U.S. when he arrives, we were wondering if he could (take out a loan) in canada for a vehicle before he enters the States. Is this possible? We have heard that a person can not have a lein on a vehicle if driving it across the border. Is this true? If not, how would we go about making payments from the U.S.?

    Any info will be appreciated.

    Thanks

    That's my understanding... A simple phone call to the lender thought might help! I called Honda Finance in Canada and they told me that there was no way I could take my car across the border with a lein on it.. and no way to transfer to Honda Finance USA. Unless he could get an unsecured loan on a cheaper car! :)

    I wanted to get imput here first, as I always do before investigating further. Yeah, calling a lender in Canada will be the next step. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. :)

  11. Below question # 7 on the affidavit of support..

    I have on deposit in savings bank in the Unites States;

    I have other personal property, etc.;

    I have stocks bonds with the market value, etc.;

    I have life isurance in the sum of;

    with a cash surrender value;

    I own real estate at;

    Since my annual income is above the poverty line and since the questions above do not apply to me, with hte exception of personal property; would I just leave these questions blank? Would I put 0 on the line for each? Should I write none?

    I have personal property, car etc. Would it be best to write in the total value of personal property even though I make above the poverty line. leave it blank?

    please help

  12. Ok. Really dumb question... :huh:

    Section II "Supporting Evidence" of the I-134, Affidavit of Support, states in the fourth paragraph:

    "The sponsor must submit in duplicate evidence of income and resources, as appropriate"...

    When they use the word "duplicate", what are they really asking for? Simply two copies of everything, or is there another meaning?

    Thanks again, VJ community!

    I'm gonna have 2 copies of all (notorized)

    Im not using assets as a requirment as my salary is well above the poverty level so I will have paycheck stubs, tax returns, and Tax transcripts, letter from employer.

    Good luck to you !!! :thumbs:

    If your going to use your tax returns, why would you submit tax transcripts also?

  13. On the first page of the affidavit of support, under the section where it says....

    This affidavit is executedon behalf of the following person:

    under the section where it says marital status...

    My fiance is divorced, so should I put divorced or single?

    Another question...

    I plan on getting the affidavit notorized tomorrow. Is this to soon, being that we want have our interview until the middle of February? Or does it matter?

    Last question...

    Where it says, state your annual income...should I put this years expected annual income, even though I am not sure of the exact amount? (not sure about raises and so forth this year)

    Or should I put the exact amount that I made for the year in 07?

    Thanks

    Steph

    your fiance is divorced you have to put divorced , also send them a divorce certificate from eather of you if your both divorced , ( DO NOT SEND ANY ORIGINAL BIRTH , DIVORCE CERTIFICATES OR ANY CERTIFICATE YOU NEED ,YOU WONT GET THEM BACK copies will be fine)

    sorry for the caps but its important

    Yes, we are aware that we will need divorce decrees, as well as other documents. The last questions that I have are regarding the affidait of support. Hopefully the other two questions that I posted will be answered. :)
