    Hi everyone,

my Visa was approved today and here is how it went.

    - Reached the Consulate a little early but the guard did not let anyone in until it was the time.
    - simple basic Covid-19 questions, security check and they send you upstairs.
    - first window they collect your passport and give you a number that they will use to call you.
    - second window they did fingerprints, asked passport size picture, collected PCC and birth certificate, asked current and intended address plus some basic info such as it is your first marriage and what is your name and DOB.
    - third window: after taking the oath they asked question like:
       - name of the petitioner?
       - who was present at your wedding?
      - date you got married?
      - where you met her?
      - when did you start dating?
      - what does she do?
      - what do you do and what you plan to do once you move to the US?
      - I had a sponsor so they asked me the question what does the sponsor do?
      - where will you be living?
      - did you read the pamphlet? what does it say?

After that the officer approved my visa giving me the Welcome to the US paper and told me that I'd get my passport back in 3-4 weeks maximum.

I stayed at Best Western Hotel, decent price, good hotel and fairly close to the Consulate ( 3-4 minutes walk ).

I would like to thank everyone on this website that helped me in getting trough the process, and wish best of luck to everyone.

This link here is a good reference for you to see how the operations are going in Montreal. https://ca.usembassy.gov/embassy-consulates/consular-operations-updates/

Two days ago the chart on that page was showing all red - as in emergency only. Yesterday they announced on Twitter that they would be rescheduling the Spousal visa interviews that they cancelled (CR1/1R1). And today you can see the chart is showing greens and yellow for immigrant visas, so they're just getting back up and running now to reschedule the Spousal interviews that were cancelled from March and April. No K visas being processed yet as they are non-immigrant visas.

As for actual timelines, prepare to wait a long time. I waited about 4 or 5 months just to get an interview date at Montreal for my CR1 visa BEFORE covid. So now, post covid, I imagine everything will slow down even longer because they have to catch up, and they also have to admit less people into the building at a time. Hope that helps a bit.

    Hi guys,

I just wanted to know if the US consulate in Montreal has resumed taking immigrant visa interviews or they are still closed and not doing interviews due to Covid.
Please let me know, thank you in advance.
