  1. Hi everyone.

I need help concerning my college admision.

All my previous school certificates are in my maiden name but right now am bearing my Ex name which I will like to change back to my maiden name in future but now I dont want it to mess up my immigration journey.  What do I need to back up my claim that am still thesame person? Will marrige certificate be enough proof?or do i need to go to court to sworn affidavit? Thank you in advance.

    My beloved family :)

Finally great news, life changing news arrived this beautiful divine morning, it seems my I-485 been approved now as it says "New card is being produced." It's indeed kind of miracle as it came through without interview, I can't explain my happiness in words being forever grateful to almighty GOD 🙏🙏🙏

And immensely grateful to @sandranj and entire VAWA family for giving me hope and making me stronger ever through this absolutely difficult and impossible journey to fix my broken life🙏

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my journey.

I filed my paperwork in  Dec 2018

prima facia given in Feb 2019

    work permit issued June 2019

    Approved in 360 Vermont March/April 2020

    work permit issued March 2020

additional work permit issued June 2020

485 sent to Local office September 2020

    appointment issued December 2020

Approval for Green Card December 2020 AT THE APPOINTMENT!!!

My attorney went with me to the appointment at USCIS everything was done virtually. The person assigned to my case asked routine questions, then asked for us to put our medical forms in the packet provided. 2 minutes later he came into the room to personally tell us that I had a green card! By the second week of January I had my card.

I know my situation was not normal, but you know what... we got this! I’m now struggling to find my purpose, but I really felt like someone needed this. Your time is next!!

    love you all💕

    Congratulations

Yes that is the way to go about it. I recently got approved for financial aid using my Prima Facie but IN MY STATE, the school I wanted to attend  inform me that I will only be considered in state student(for tuition rate) AFTER one year of my I-485 priority date HOWEVER they said I can claim in state domicile based on my spouse if he is a resident of the state.

Am trying to fill the FASFA form, there is a section where i need to put in our 2019 tax which was jountly filled with my Ex, i was not working then, but we filled together and he claimed my daughter.  Can you help me out what am going to put down on tax return of 2019. Thank you

Hello dear, new member here I just sign up so that I could answer your question. There are Lovely ladies on this forum. Thanks for the uplifting work you all do.

For financial aid my dear yes the Prima Facie makes you eligible. For starters you need to file a fafsa form on the Department of Education. Once you answer the question about citizenship select "NO, BUT I AM AN ELIGIBLE NONCITIZEN". Your application will be processed and the DOE will verify your status with USCIS. Don't worry if they say you are not an eligible non citizen. The school you selected on your application will contact you before they finalize your aid package and then you can submit your Prima Facie letter. I say go ahead and apply for financial aid. Plus you get refunded whatever money is left from the aid.

Thank you for your quick response, God blesd you.

Wow three months extension ?  I never heard of three months extension, well, we sent for renewal in September,  but we used the old forms and they sent the package back, and we resent it again about six weeks ago, never get receipt yet, my EAD already expired last October. How long it takes you to get the receipt?  Renewal usually takes about two to three months.

Am sorry, i made a mistake, 180 days was written on the recipt. I got the recipt after 2 weeks .

Hey! I’m very happy for you! You are doing a great job! We all familiar with a struggle of being a single parent...so you are doing awesome and will be doing even better!
Congratulations with a job and a new car! 🎉

Soon or later you will get your VAWA approval and finally at least a little bit of stress associated with a immigration process will be taken away!

    Way to go👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    Thank you for your support.

    Hello everyone! :)

Hope you have been doing well while I was away from thinking about immigration for a month....although I have a quick question:

If I filed on Sept 25th and received the receipt notice the following week but no prima facie yet, should I be worried? Its been almost 2 months.

    Same point as you are.

I filled August RFE for Police clearance was sent to them, no Prima facial. But I read about alot of people here who didn't get prima facial and they were approved.
