  1. HI,

I passed my test today, my oath will be on the 12th of January.

We were late (around 30 minutes), and I had to wait on the waiting room to take the test between 2 appointments.

She only asked me for my passport, the letter, driving license, and green card, 6 questions, and 1 short sentence to write and 1 short one to read.

At the end she told me: It's easy you see. Yea!

Good luck to each of you

  2. Update for me.

    My biometric is November 21st.

I called uscis on Monday twice (2 versions, I called the second time 10 minutes after hanging up)

-The first agent told me that I may not need an appointment and is probably this one who sent me a letter for my fingerprint.

My husband and me we didn't catch really what happening at this time...

-The second agent told me that Uscis sent me already a letter (3rd of november) stating that I don't need my biometric done. I received this letter on monday evening. So at this point, no need for a biometric.

After that on the website, my status demoted, instead of being "on line for interview, since september 20th", they put me on "Initial review"???

-I received the new letter from uscis around the 10, giving me a date for my biometric.

The first agent didn't know that USCIS sent me a letter on the 3rd stating that I didn't need my biometric be taken.

The second agent didn't know that the first agent sent me a letter and a date for my biometric, and is this one who told me that I received a letter on the 3rd of November.

    What a great teamwork!

  3. hello,

I'm a lucky one, I'm not required to have my biometric,

After several calls, I received a letter today, it's indicated that the systems indicate that I appeared at the local application support center and had my biometrics taken.

    Well, if they tell it.

I read also that the biometric are valid for 15 months (I did my ROC around August 2010), so I'm in line for my interview since september 2011.

I'm sure that they won't reimburse me my biometric fee

  4. Hello,

    Like somebody else told you.

If you need a SSN, you need to go to the SSA, before the term of your I-94.

I don't know for other states, but for NYS, you can apply 10 days after your arrival with a I-94.

Be aware also that they can tell you "you can't apply for a SSN", so check on the SSA, and print some informations.

My husband and me we had to convince the manager that what she was reading was true, that you can apply for a SSN with a valid I-94.

Check on the SSA site of your place of residency, if you want to have your driver licence or other "benefits", it's better to have the SSN, early, WITH A VALID I-94, if not you will have to wait for your EAD (around 6 months minimum).

It seems me that I didn't reply your question -sorry. :bonk:

  5. Hello,

Thank you Sil_Dan, sorry i applied, on the 26th of August.

So I'm an august filer. My NOA is dated on the 1st of september.

I called USCIS, it was so easy to connect with them, I was really ready to wait 20 minutes...

Ok, so she told me to wait 30 more days, for a response.

Unlike some people, I'm on line for interview without having my biometrics done

  6. Did you file in August????

That's great news! Usually they send the letter a month before the appointment day!!! So you'll have enough time to study for the test! ;)

    Sil

    Hello Sil_Dan

I filed the 26th of April, but received my NOA is dated on the 1st of september.

So i feel in my heart that I'm a september filer (well, if I can avoid the stress of having to take the test, I will do it).

    I have 2 questions:

-How can I cahnge on my profile : filed for naturalization instead of K1?

-I read on my status that my file is on "testing and interview" but i didn't receive my appointment for the biometric.

    thanks

  7. My first job was cashier (5 months) in the beginning I liked it but started to be bored. Soon after receiving my EAD.

Find an opportunity as a bilingual customer support for 3 months.

And after, I stayed home and care about my actual 20 months old baby.

I have an opportunity with my husband's family in the mortgage area but I will know for sure in 6 months.

In the meanwhile I'm looking "actively" something.

  8. Hi,

Rlogan you raise some interesting insight.

But I give some credits to haveibeenused because he explained a deep-deep fact about women.

The fact is this woman doesn't do any efforts, nothing...she is not the traditional scammer who went to enter in the us, and said everytime "I love you" or "you are very important for me like my eyes" (thank you wordreference).

Nothing, any effort, doesn't show any interest...she is pretty sincere with her scam- she doesn't love you, she doesn't like you.

You invited her to cancum, she didn't seem to be interested- she doesn't even seem to be interested by your money- if not she will ask a little more, knowing what you are able to do for her.

The only thing that she seems to be interested in to enter the country, quickly, and all the inconvenience that she has to suffer seems to bother her above all.

She doesn't even call you... a "true" scammer will you call to convince you about his/her love. She doesn't even bother herself to do that, neither bother herself to dance with you for your wedding, nor bother herself to be interest by where your plane will landed to come and pick you.

She is pretty clear, she doesn't want to hear about you- it's harsh but it's the reality.

But she did that even during the wedding, even then she didn't bother herself...

I keep my mind on this one, this woman loves deeply somebody else. She doesn't have children so it can't be because she wants a better future for them. It doesn't seeem to be for money, she will be more greedy or more interested.

She is doing thing like she is forced to do it, and she doesn't like to do it, it's pretty clear.

So somebody is behind that telling her to do it.

The bottom line is she loves him, that explain why she is doing that, because of love.

Not love for you, you seems more to be this one who are putting yourself in what she wants (being with this person).

If she wanted to do it she will pretend, but she doesn't want to do it. So she has this attitude.

She is pretty clear, not sincere but clear, she doesn't love you. He asked her to do something, she is doing it (in bad faith) it's all.

I don't even see the typical scammer. Poor girl.

    Talk to her...

  9. Hello,

    I read some posts.

She doesn't love you and she doesn't even seem to do any attempts for you to know that she "loves" you. What is a little weird.

I think that maybe there are "more behind the scene" as my husband love to tell.

Generally the scammer does efforts until the goal, and when the goal is reach, divorce or whatever...

    Women function with emotions.

Why did she marry you? well it's obvious- to enter in the us

Why didn't she do any efforts until her goal????? Mystery

It looks like a scam where maybe a men (that she loves) may be involve). Women can do a lot for men that they love.

I maybe misjudge, but I think that this woman is involved with another man and this man wanst to go to the states. He is using her and she is using you.

That can explain why she doesn't seem to be interested by you, her heart belongs to somebody else.

    That can explain some reactions.

You didn't do anything wrong, you did things well- but she doesn't love you neither want to stay some minutes with you.

  10. Actually you have a single representative and two Senators--NYS has 29 representatives and 2 Senators. You need to find which district you are in and who the Representive is that serves your district. Go to the House's website and enter your zip code to find the representive the is in your district.

    Hope this helps.

    Dave

I was thinking to memorize 2-3 names (like Israel, King...)

Now it's easier. Thank you again.

  11. hello,

Maybe where you are living (Louisiana) there is a strong background of racism.

I don't suffer fromt that in upstate NY, and I think that people here (maybe where I'm living) are much less racist than what I heard about.

Like somebody else said, in her area it's white again black, black again latino, latino again......there are always differences and bad people hurt others...

It can be your accent, skin color, social position, clothes... to make a difference between humans. And I can tell that here it's better that what I used to.

    @ Caribbean girl- life'sjourney

By the way saturday, I went to see a caribbean-jamaican festival in my area.

Ok, I'm black and I "suffer" from racism, I came from the same place than you, not Jamaique... guess it.

I lived in France, and I can tell you that's better here (maybe also in upstate Ny). When you are in France, you have always to explain "why you are a french and black in the same time". I live that when I was around 20 years old and was shocked, I was color blind before. The problem is you read it on the majority of the people eyes. When I left France, I never saw again this sight.

until I met a french woman here, my husband told her that I'm french, and I saw the question on her eyes "why are you french?". It can just be an interrogation, but things have to do with the french education...

So I can fully understand racism and how it can be disturbing, frustating, exasperating, disgusting... But I can go over, I met some wonderful people here, whatever race they are, and there are idiots everywhere.

Racism is awful but I saw also self pity (too much) here for anything, and that it's stories to excuse bad habits. Don't tell me that I'm racist, I'm black, don't tell me that I'm wrong, go on a jail and you will see.

Just to reply to you, and I won't be longer because it's not the topic.

  12. Hello,

Just to add my part, I'm black from the caribbean and my husband is white.

We have a son, caramel color (almost like me). Here I never, never suffer about racism.

I know "all" the background of this country, however american-african people do a lot of stories...(end of the story).

If somebody tells me I'm black, it's the truth- it's not a racial stuff. My husband's niece (around 5 years old) asked me why I'm not like the others (the family), I explained her. And even if somebody else will ask me this kind of question (are they all black in your country....). For me, it's only curiosity.

Everybody tells that my son is...(handsome) (L), one day a woman was joking , she needs to pay to have his color of skin, and he has it naturally. I wasn't shocked-

I'm not sensitive about this question, even if i know about racism (it's another story).

So take it easy, an observation is not racism. In my country, they will tell somebody is white without racism, or asian, or whatever. just to describe somebody.
