  1. I was the same guys (arrived in Sept). Waited for three weeks and nothing so called my local SSN office. They checked the system and I was not on it so they managed to book me an in-person appointment (I'm in LA) and I just went this morning to submit a paper application with my documents. They said I would have it in two weeks. Fingers crossed.

p.s. the first time I called my local office - I got a rep that said sorry can't help just wait so I would recommend that people keep ringing until they get through to someone useful and nice enough to help!

    I JUST GOT OUR LND!!!!!!!

A man phoned my husband's mobile from the embassy, but asked to speak to me and said that they had expedited our application and was calling to confirm that my husband had received the email with the case number.  He was very kind and helpful and pleasant, although he sounded tired.

There were appointment dates Tuesday and Thursday this week and next week and one on 1 October, but nothing else.  I booked his interview for 1 October and we've scheduled the medical for this Monday.  I haven't figured out how to go back and check for another interview date yet as he could take one earlier in the w/c 28th September if any become available but will look into it.

After work we will be powering through the DS-260 and double check we have all the docs we need for the interview.

Just for info, this is the text of the email:

    To whom it may concern,

We would like to inform you that we have received your request and the case has been expedited. Please follow guidelines included in the Packet 3 Letter included.

    Dear <husband's name>:

We are pleased to confirm that we have received an approved immigrant visa petition in your name.  Petition approval does not guarantee visa issuance.  IMPORTANT: In order to apply for the visa, you are required to complete the steps on our website at https://uk.usembassy.gov/howtoapplyIV .Make sure you have all of the documents listed on our website before you book your medical exam or visa interview.  Only the Embassy’s panel physician in London can conduct the medical. Disregard any references to sending documents to the National Visa Center (NVC).  As your application being processed by Embassy London, you must take your documents with you to your visa interview.   Only a consular officer can decide if you qualify for a visa, following your interview.  As we can’t guarantee an outcome by any set date, we caution you against resigning from work, giving up accommodation in the UK or making final travel plans unless you have received your passport containing a valid immigrant visa.  No expedited visa processing service is available.

                    Case Number: LNDXXXXXXXXXX                      Name (P): <husband's name>

Congrats! And best of luck with everything. I had my interview earlier this week, went great and got approved. Hopefully flying out late next week if I get my passport back. :)

Putting out positive vibes for those who have yet to receive their LNDs, keep at it and we will probably see more (as others have pointed out) now with the end of the student travel period.

Thanks for the advice! My father in law emailed me this ridiculously long list of what to do to get a drivers license in CA. I'll try and chop it up later today and post it on here for the people that were interested.

Hello to Santa Monica! I'm currently in Brighton but will be moving to Whittier for a few months then we're looking at Newport Beach. It was going to be Long Beach but my wife changed her mind!

That would be great! It's sooo confusing... but I've been following these steps - https://www.aceable.com/blog/how-to-get-your-license-when-youre-new-to-california/ - as I don't have a Social Security number yet, Ic can't really progress can I?

@laylalex what's the best way to book an appointment? Is that an appointment for just the theory test or do you mean the actual driving test? I'm sooo confused. Do I need a social security number to book an appointment?

Sorry, was trying to find the thread on this. We’ve been trying to schedule a visa interview appointment online but keep getting “no appointments available” message. I have been checking periodically to see if one opens up. Is this what you did as well to get your appointment booked? Had you previously been getting the “no appointments available” message as well?

Yep. They may release more tomorrow or early next week. Just keep checking! I do it on my phone :)

Thanks. I want to reach out, but I have no idea what to say to them. We are past the expected time to get our LND number. I just want to get us in and approved so I can start applying for a job back in the US :( Feeling quite down and hopeless on it all at the moment.

I completely understand your frustration and hopelessness. Just keep at it, keep messaging and bugging them - I feel that personally worked for me. You will get your LND, and start moving.

Curious. To those who have reached out to their congressmen (and gotten a reply from them) what did you ask them? Or how did you word your inquiry for assistance? I think our mail has come and gone today (nothing at all postwise) so I'm thinking of reaching out to ours at this point. We hit 10 weeks this coming Tuesday and I'm getting beyond frustrated.

Hey, I got a reply from my wife’s congressman after I got my LND... see below. Not very helpful!

Thank you for your email on behalf of Congressman Schiff's constituent, Mrs ###, regarding her husband's immigration application.

As Mr. ###’s petition appears to be filed locally, we understand that our colleagues in the Immigrant Visa Unit will be in contact in due course as the US Embassy in London continues a phased resumption of visa services from the 27th of July.   Given the situation, there is a backlog but they aim to process cases as soon as practicable.  We’d advise the constituent to please also continue to check https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas111 for any further updates to services.

We hope this is helpful in responding to your constituent.

    Sincerely,
