Applying from new jersey, all these news about Ice taking people off the streets make me nervous about going there

Not sure where to ask this. We need to apply for a non driver's license for my wife while our i-751 is still in processing. Her green card expired in February but we have the 48 months extension letter. We need to use it with other documents to apply for this license. I don't think it will be an issue but want to ask anyone who has done it before.

My wife's 2 year green card expired last February and we received a 4 year extension letter. The I-751 was filed in November 2023. But not knowing when she will get her case processed and approved, I'm thinking we should file the N-400 now while waiting. We have been married for over 3 years and she never left the country and stayed in the same state since she came. Anyone has experience with this can share?
