Yeah, I think even a June travel date may be optimistic at this point. On the plus side, there are some very proactive people on the FB forums that are organising mass emailings etc. (some on this thread also), perhaps something will come of that.

Would anybody mind direct messaging me a link to the FB forums? Thank you!

I’m in a Facebook group where we’re working on contacts and making immigrant visa interviews an essential service. Would you like to join that? Private message me your full name and I’ll find you on Facebook to invite you

I contacted my senator back in the states and they got in contact with the embassy. They sent me back the embassy’s snarky reply which basically they say they are not doing any interviews while in level 5 because they are trying to protect their employees. Basically they can open but they’d rather stay closed and get paid to do nothing.

    Hi all,

Apologies if this has been answered previously but I am still slightly confused and hope someone could shed some light:

So our I-130 petition was approved last week and we are just starting the NVC process. On our I-130 I(the beneficiary) gave my maiden and married name together as that's what I intend to use moving forward. My passport and police certificates only state my maiden name.

    Should I
    A. Move forward filing the forms using only my maiden name, have my greencard matching my passport/police certs with my maiden name only and change the name on the GC at some point in the future.
    OR
    B. If it is ok to submit our documents to the NVC as they are now, renew my passport in the meantime, so that I can file with my married name, reupload a copy of the new passport and have both the new and old passport once it's time for the interview? (Seems messy?)

It seems like option A is the most straight forward tbh but would like to have my married name on my GC. If I move forward with my married name would I then need to get new police clearance certs also as they only state my maiden name? Curious to hear what other people in similar situations did.

I don’t know the answer to this question but I do know that you need your married name and maiden name on your police certificate or it will not be accepted at the embassy during your interview. They only put my wife’s maiden name on and we were told we needed a new one with both married and maiden.

  4. Hi All,

I have received numerous private messages regarding our interview on the 15th January at the Dublin Embassy. We received the email today that the interviews are cancelled due to level 5. There is not much else stated in the email other than they will contact us to reschedule as soon as they are back up and running. Sorry to everyone waiting on their interviews or who has had one cancelled.

    Hello,

curious if anyone who has an interview date in Dublin, ireland has heard anything regarding the level 5 lockdown? Curious if they’re canceling appointments again and closing or are able to continue on with interviews since this lockdown is allowing retail & gyms to stay open. I can’t seem to get through to them so any help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

Our Interview is scheduled for the 15th January. We haven’t gotten any word yet about cancellation or rescheduling. I’ve tried reaching out with no response. My wife’s medical is scheduled for the 4th so it would be nice to know something soon so we can reschedule if needed. If we hear anything from the embassy I will let you all know so you can have a better understanding about what is going on.

Oh wow! Do you happen to know which dates they’re currently setting appointments for? I thought they were farther along than that :(

I don’t actually. The problem is everything keeps getting pushed back every time they close down the embassy. I know they are now rescheduling all of the cancelled appointments from the past 6 weeks. If I remember correctly, right before this last shut down they were schuleduling for July I think.

Hello. We submitted our i130 March 5 on line. After that it’s been touched on March 17 and July 2. I checked last night and the last touched date said August 29 which was a Saturday. I’ve heard people on here say sometimes the approval can take a couple of days to appear. Could this be what’s happening? I don’t want to jinx us but...

also, is it just me or have the Nebraska processing times decreased a lot? My approval estimation I receive in email has moved from December up to just a couple of weeks from now.

one more question - once the i130 is approved will we just be sitting and waiting for the US embassy to reopen for interviews once we submit the 864 & ds 260?

thank you and good luck to everyone during this trying time

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you filed your I-130 in March, you can expect a wait time just for the approval of I-130 to be at least a year. After your I-130 is approved it’s sent off to NVC and then it’s sent off to the Embassy. Seeing as you filed in March I would say you’ll have at least a year from now before your case even reaches the embassy if not longer. We’re currently waiting for NVC to DQ us and we submitted our I-130 march 2019. I hope your case goes faster but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Since the process now is probably going to take two years or more, your financial situation today, is irrelevant.  People submitting I-864 packages to NVC today, should expect to take updated packages to the interview, as the ones sent to NVC NOW will be outdated by the interview.

Are you trying to say that when you get to the NVC stage, it’s going to be two years from that point?

  9. I think you need to evaluate your situation a little more. I can only speak from experience of going through the CR-1 visa process currently. Seeing as you haven’t filed anything yet you’re going to be waiting a while. If you want to go the CR-1 route, what is the living situation going to be? Is she going to stay in Vietnam and you in America? Will you both live in Vietnam? Currently just to get the I-130 approved you’re looking at around 12 - 18 months. Then you’re sent to NVC which is going to put you out another 3-6 months depending. We’re currently at 16 months and just got DQ at NVC. So I just wanted to put it into context of the wait and current times you can expect so you can further decide which route is best for you. Again we’re currently at 16 months and still going coming from Ireland. Coming from Vietnam might take even longer. Just something to consider.

No need to wait, he can file the I-130 petition for a CR-1 visa on your behalf now if he has the marriage certificate and other required documents needed.  It's a very long process, so I suggest he get the petition in line sooner rather than later.

He can list the preferred location for the visa interview as Dublin, and as long as you have legal residency in Ireland, that's where the visa interview will eventually be.  It should work fine if you have an EU passport or if not, an Irish Residence Permit.  If you don't have either of those, the visa interview will be done at the US embassy/consulate of your country of citizenship.

    Good luck!

100% agree. Get the I-130 out as soon as possible. When we filed ours in March 2019 our lawyer told us 8 months to 12 months MAX. Here we are 16 months later and stuck at NVC. I would say the new wait time is probably closer to 18 months to 2 years for CR-1.

    Hello,

we filed our i130 March 5 and it’s gone to the Nebraska service center. I’m reading this center has one of the longest processing times. Is that true?
also curious - when is our case moved to the consulate here in Dublin?

will processing times be quicker since ireland is a small country?

last question - will the fact that offices are closed for interviews plus Trumps ban on certain visas speed up the process?

thank you for your help. Trying to get home to care for my mom but don’t want to leave my husband and father of our young kids behind.

Our I-130 was accepted at the Nebraska office March 13 2019. It was approved on April 20 2020. Today, May 19 2020 we got our email from NVC to start with that process which our lawyer says under pandemic circumstances will probably be at least another 6 months until everything is sent to the Dublin Consulate for the interview. Long story short, it’s going to be quite some time before you’re case is sent to the Consulate. Did you try and ask for expedition when you sent out your I-130 explaining you need to be the carer for your mother? Odds are it would be denied but it doesn’t hurt to try. I wish I could be more positive but it is a long road and is getting longer given the circumstances. Good luck with everything.
