My wife asked me to type this out so here we go. Her interview was scheduled for 9am. We were 15 minutes early. While we were waiting a few people came out of their interview with big smiles. Good sign. At 9:02 the IO came out and called for her by last name only. He looked really cranky... Not a good sign..

She walked back to an office with a little desk and he had her swear to tell the truth. He then asked for her driver’s license, green card and her passport. He took the port of entry stamp and put it in her file. The IO didn’t ask for any other paperwork. They then went through the N-400 form from front to back. They did skip over the info about my previous marriage. He then asked for her Social Security Number. He did not ask to see the card.

He then said “It is time for the 100 civic questions. I will ask you a total of 10 questions. You can miss 4.” Here are the questions he asked.

1. How many members are in the House of Representatives?

2. Name one war that was fought by the US in the 1900’s.

3. Who is the father of our country?

4. Who is the Chief Justice of the US?

5. How many years is the President elected for?

6. How many years are members of the House elected for?

He did not ask 10. J

“Now it is time for the English portion of the test.”

He had her read a sentence that happened to be one of the 100 questions. Who is George Washington? He then told her to write “We vote for the president in November.” Then the IO said Congratulations. You have passed the test.” He then printed the Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony and handed it to her. The date and time on the notice is 5/12/16 at 9:45am. She then thanked him and he kind of smiled. That was the first time he smiled.

At 9:18 my wife came out. I knew right away she passes because she was smiling from ear to ear. I think at first she was trying to hide it but couldn’t. J

We have discussed doing that too.. My concern with that is being responsible for medical coverage for her mother without insurance. It is much less to send money for treatments there.

April 21, 2016 - Received an email that im In-line for Interview

The interview went great, I was out in 10 minutes. The officer told me to wait for the ceremony letter by mail

We're both going, although we've both got plenty of vacation time saved up and understanding supervisors. Even if they don't let us both into the interview, showing up together can only give a good impression to the IO, and it's nice to be there for moral support!

Interview letter today - mid-morning of Monday, 16 May. Better revisit those flashcards!

Mine is at 9am in a week. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I am glad to hear you have your date Nhutchings.

Just called the USCIS today and spoke to a 2nd-tier officer. He told me my interview date and time (5/11/16 morning)!! He said if I don't receive my letter by 5/4/16, I have to call them again so they can fax it to me before the interview date (it can take maximum of 5 days to send the fax). I hope I get my letter this week but I'm happy to know my interview date already!

Mine actually took 2 weeks from the status change. I'm sure you will have it by the 20th. At first I thought it was 1 week but looking at the dates it was status change 3/15 and got it in the mail 3/26.

I totally agree with that statement! I'll be glad this is the last step my wife needs to make. But to tell the truth, once she was here, none of the waiting was near as hard as it was before she arrived. The original visa wait is the biggest killer.

Hi Tim & Cai, yes I filed about 2.5 months early. However, I noticed that others who had done so generally got their in line notifications exactly a month before their anniversary date. I'm not sure why this didn't happen for me. It could be that there's a longer queue for Chinese citizens. Or it could be because I traveled a lot internationally over the past few years (all short trips that fall within the rules). However, I already had a successful background check + fingerprints when I received Global Entry so it's anyone guess at this point. Anyway, all I can do is be patient and hope for the best!

Well your only a couple days after the month before, I bet you will get it next week.

In line today! Just like Jimmy said, exactly one month before the Green Card anniversary. Now I just hope New York City moves quickly!
