  1. You can easily do it yourself using the guides.

My fiancé actually did it all by himself and we only found out about visa journey other groups after we had sent our petition. We were approved in four months.

As someone mentioned, if you're not home, make sure you have someone trustworthy handling your mail (my fiancé was also deployed when he sent ours).

Just know, being in the military doesn't necessarily make anything go faster (as some may think), but at least you have a steady income.

  2. Hi Sego,

I'm sorry to hear you're going through all of this. I also had my interview schedule for the end of March and it was cancelled. I lost my job due to covid and also moved in with my family. I can't imagine going through this while being pregnant.

I don't have a date or any news on when the embassy will reopen in Japan (like most of us).

Like you, I have been thinking about each and every option I have to be with my fiancé.

He is in the military so he just can't move here just like that (though I wonder how difficult it would be for him to transfer to Japan since there are so many military bases here).

We applied for an emergency interview for some personal reasons and with a supporting letter from his command, yet we were denied it.

It's agonizing, but I think the only people who can judge the situation is you and you fiancé. And of course you have to think about the bureaucracy in France.

As for now, I'm trying (VERY hard) to stay calm and hoping that the embassies will resume soon (though most of the time I think I'm just fooling myself :( ).

But that's the only option most of us have left...

    Stay safe!

    Dear All,

Did any one had any idea when US embassy Islamabad will resume the visa service. I heard Embassies are getting reopening like in Japan, Paris  London, Lebanon etc.

"You heard" where? Just yesterday the Embassy in Japan issued a note saying they are still not resuming services.

You put Camp Pendleton down as your city..... A Marine always knows about Camp Pendleton

No, Oceanside is pretty decent as long as you stay out of trouble so don't worry. I was stationed there for a little bit before being transferred to Camp Lejeune.

What's the trouble in Oceanside? I was also looking into that 😧

I have filled out our DS160 and tried to submit the payment but says I have to fill out the DS160 first. Can anyone fill me in on how to pay now and schedule the interview?

I have our DS160 number, invoice ID, NVC number and the like and would like to expedite everything we can. We have all the other required documents except the medical which we will schedule to do this week.

Is your case in transit or ready?

Hello! My case is for K-1 Visa

My fiancé and I have already received the letter from the NVC last feb 18 and our status is already "ready" when I checked on CEAC website last feb 20. I have already finished filling up the DS-160 form and already scheduled an interview appointment on April 13 without receiving the letter from the embassy. My questions are:

    1. will there be a problem with our timeline from the time it was ready until the interview date? I'm really worried that I might need to reschedule if have not received any letter from the embassy.

    2. If I do have to reschedule, how can I reschedule it?

All input is much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Sorry I’m not sure about it but I would advise calling the embassy.

I actually heard from someone from the embassy that they are going to contact us once they receive our cases.
I think there is a link to reschedule the interview on the embassy website.

May I ask you - Were there a lot of openings when you scheduled your interview?

I think the NVC will be sending my case on March 3, I wonder if I will be able to schedule an interview for the end of March...

    Yes you can

it may depend. Usually 1 month for it to get to nvc 1 week for it to reach Tokyo. But you should follow people with same dates on k1 forum for better dates. After it gets to embassy it’s may still take a while.

japan wants some to be sent beforehand, they will send you a list. I believe you can’t go to interview without these being sent.

-copy of birth certificate and/or whatever you use to prove citizenship

-i would get another copy of letter of intent to marry with a never date or resigned (not really necessary

-pay stubs, employment verification letter, bank statements (whatever matches your case)

Thanks a lot for all the info!

So I can only schedule my medical after I receive the list from the embassy?

I was hoping I could do it before hand to avoid wasting time.

But It seems like I have to wait for the list huh?

  8. Hi guys

I have been reading some answers here but I'm still a bit confused.

It would be great if someone could help.

This is for the K1 fiancé visa (I'm not Japanese btw, I have permanent residency).

    I got my NOA1 on Oct 7, 2019.

I'm expecting NOA2 in the next couple months (hopefully).

    so here are my questions:

1.Can I get the police certificate with the copy of NOA1? (from what I read here)

2.After receiving NOA2, they will send it to NVC, and from there to Tokyo Embassy,

How long does that usually take?

When can I schedule my medical and what do I need exactly to do so?

I'm confused about whether I should have some papers from the Embassy to schedule or with me on the day.

3.Are there any documents I'm supposed to send by mail to the embassy before my interview?

I thought I was supposed to take everything with me on the day.

    As for the documents from my American fiancé;

    - I-134 Affidavit of Support

    - tax transcripts

    - anything else?

I apologize for so many questions but we've been in a LDR for almost a year and this visa process is driving me crazy.

If you have any tips or anything that I could to for the process to go smoother / faster please let me know!

    Thank you In advance!
