I wonder how are PP applications routed? DO they go to a central location for processing and printing of the PP? Or do they go to more local centers to be issued? Basically does it make a difference on the processing times, depending on where you apply from? Does anyone know?

My experience has been adult, routine applications are routed locally (I received mine from the Houston passport agency) and processed the quickest. More complicated applications are sent to central locations (a child's passport was sent from New Hampshire, while another to replace a lost one came from Virginia).

Also, processing time is likely a function of application complexity rather than where you apply from or processing location.

Covid-19 may have kicked all of this to the curb though.

I didn't say USCIS approved her green card after I withdrew.  She may have gotten a green card through other means.

Ok, wrong question I asked.  They may not expect to be arrested, but they deserve to be arrested.

Gotcha. So the story is more detailed and complicated than you first indicated. Still, your only option is to submit what you have and be done with it.

Also, on deserving arrest. Your ex may deserve it but your wishes won't make it happen. Ergo, the advice for you to move on.

I wrote a letter to USCIS to withdraw my affidavit of support before she got her green card.

This tells you how much of an uphill battle this is. USCIS decided to grant her the GC even after you tried to withdraw your affidavit of support, which you can't do via a letter as stated earlier.

Do people commit crimes and expect to not be arrested?

By definition, yes. If people expected to be arrested every time, they wouldn't commit any crimes.

Thanks,.  I have evidence from the private investigator and my family's first hand testimony.  I also have documentation she applied and received public benefits.  It just feels like I need the police/social services/district attorney to charge and convict her, yet the government seems overloaded with work and justice is not being served.

You're seeking vengeance, not justice. You want your ex punished by not only USCIS but other government agencies like social services (for benefits crimes) and even the DA (I don't know for what crime).

I truly sympathize, despite my tongue in cheek comments. This is a treacherous road and leads to mental anguish as someone has already advised. Submit what you have to the USCIS and be done with it.

If she gets de-naturalized (low chance), you will still have to deal with your own feelings about what happened.

Really wish you well. Take care.

I have kept my comments professional and attempted to tell my side of the story in seeking justice.  I find your comments or jokes ("LoL") condescending and offensive.  People's lives are at stake here.

Futhermore, others have offered more information than just call and email such as seeing the fraud officer at the local uscis office.  I was looking for more than just an email and phone number.

Alright buddy. I put that "LoL" in there so you don't literally try to apprehend your ex and drag her to the USCIS office.

Best wishes in your quest for justice.

When someone obtains citizenship fraudulently, it ought to be revoked.  That's just the law.

No one here disagreed with you. You're just harping on about this and preaching to the choir. Call the numbers and write to the emails you were given.

Or, if you can't sleep at night, do a citizen's arrest and bring your ex to the nearest USCIS office. LoL.

I just made a similar post actually. I am a Canadian citizen and my daughter is one by right, although officially a US citizen. I am just concerned because I am not able to stay for 15 days and don’t know if I’d be allowed in if I stay for less than 15 days.

Both my trips were under a week so this is a non-issue in Ontario, at least. There's just no way to enforce the full 14-day suggested quarantine. Other provinces may have more stringent rules but, even then, I can't see how a self-quarantine is enforceable.

Have any Canadian citizens living in the US been able to successfully return to Canada crossing a land border for a visit during this border closure? Canadian border website says Canadian citizens and immediate family are exempt, but they are not clear about Canadian’s living abroad and their family.

Didn't cross a land border but returned to Canada twice since May 1st. As a citizen, you will be allowed entry into Canada by land but if you're not a US citizen or LPR, you may not be allowed to drive back (though I read you can fly back). I drove next to a border crossing on the 401 in Ontario (near Prescott) and there was a sign that read "Border is closed." I didn't try to investigate if it actually was. I'm a dual citizen so likely would be allowed entry into the US by land but it probably wouldn't be a smooth/routine crossing.

Report back if you try it.

Congrats. Considering the pandemic, 3 months isn't all that bad. Regular applications for children under weird custody circumstances or lost passports can take 8-12 weeks or even longer.

But glad to see all these approvals. DoS is cranking up the production pipeline.

Anyway USCIS can investigate or they want hard evidence only?  I do have hard evidence from the investigator and the police report.

You sound more like a spurned ex than someone concerned about citizenship fraud. Excellent info was given to you here on where and how to report your allegations. Boiler literally gave you an email address AND a phone number.

It's up to USCIS to pursue this matter and you can't make them do so. All you can do is pass on what you consider "hard evidence" through the proper channel.

    Hello,

my son is moving in the US soon.

He will have a I551 stamp on his Italian passport.

His mom and I never been married, I am his father and I’m US citizen by Naturalization.

I wanted to apply for him to get a US passport without go through all citizenship process.

what are the document required? Does he need a letter where says that he is in my physical and legal custody from his mom or his mom just need to sign and notarize the DS-3053 “Statement of Consent” form?

    Thank you

I went through this earlier this year and received passport for my child. Similar circumstances to yours.

I was kind of worried, been abroad since last summer, and we planned to come back in March but then beloved COVID-19 hit everywhere and changed the world. But they CBP officer at customs was super friendly and only asked once how long I've been abroad. Told him I came back with a week to spare before 12 months hit. He said nothing, no notes in my passport or anything.

"Welcome back" and we walked to get our bags.

That's great news. Usually, they don't make any notes in the passport, they would go into the system. And Covid-19 travel difficulties nowadays more than explain, and justify, any long stay abroad. Even if you had been over the 12 month mark, it is easily arguable that you were trying to get back here in the last 3 months. That you didn't get a hard time getting back in may be due to your nice smile (just guessing). It could also be due to your being from Sweden. Nationals of other, less desirable, countries may receive a different treatment.

    Whatever the reason, welcome back!

Congrats, Could we know when did you apply?

If everyone just filled out their timeline on passport application, the previous 4 posts would not be necessary. What's the point of having a "tracker" if no data points are being entered by individuals?

It's for the greater good folks. You know, like wearing masks in public.

    Thanks for the reply.

Update:  The passport agency called and spoke to my wife and daughter.  No help offered, but the call ended with "I'll have to get with our legal department, it will take a few weeks" so I can only hope they will relent in their request.  I wonder how many Chinese get divorced and don't have a custody agreement?  My wife said that in an uncontested divorce her paperwork is all you get.

It's not just divorced Chinese who could lack custody agreements but many uncontested divorcees from other nationalities. Even more, many children are born to parents who never married and custody was never an issue until filing for passport here.

But it seems that there's some discretion on what the state department considers sufficient as proof of "sole custody." Eventually they will relent and give you the passport as the child is now over 18 and any custody issues are moot.

    Good luck.

    Hello All,

I am asking on behalf of a friend who came to the US and filed asylum, which she got approved.

Is there a chance for such a person to bring her kids to join her in the US considering her current status? Can she apply for her kids to join her as she is under the Asylum category. It was a very difficult situation for her at her home country and she had to escape to safety while her kids are with trusted family members.

    Any suggestions will help. TIA

I know someone who came to the US as an asylee and sponsored his kids. He had to wait till he became a permanent resident (I think it took a couple of years) then filed for his kids. It then took a few more years before the kids arrived. I'm guessing it varies by country and depends on whether there's US embassy there and/or sufficient acceptable documentation exists to prove kinship. Best to call USCIS or talk to a lawyer.

    Good luck to your friend.

I know about enough of them, yes. I was rather hoping for genuine insight rather than speculation, but thanks anyway,

Genuine insight? Sorry to disappoint. Asking you about all 3rd world countries was also a rhetorical question. I been knew. :)

To me, Visa Journey is informative, entertaining and a provides a little bit of schadenfreude. Not sure why people get twisted into knots on these boards.

I'm sure someone will come along and provide genuine insight.

Huh, interesting to note that in the Philippines all children have to appear for an interview accompanied by parent or legal guardian. (In most countries, children under 14 are exempt from appearing for b visa interview.) Wonder what the reasons are that they are stricter in Philippines.

    https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/ph-svc-visachild.asp#qna

Sadly, Philippines, like most third world countries, is considered a high fraud country when it comes to USA immigration.

  18. After two months, status changed from "Not Found" to "In Process." That is an improvement, under the circumstances.

I would use your passport to fly, doesnt sound like the driver's license is REAL ID compliant.

REAL ID enforcement has been pushed back even beyond it's October deadline and NY is a compliant state. But, yes, I'd carry my Canadian passport anyway plus the EAD and AP (which fits in your wallet). Show the DL and if asked for more, throw the (proverbial) kitchen sink at TSA.

    Welcome to Texas :)

Ok, so you received the stimulus payment because using the non-filers form is a filing of 1040 for 2019. And you would have had to put 0 for income in 2019 because you weren't even here.

geowrian is right, I wouldn't lose sleep over this. It's highly unlikely you'd get in trouble or be asked to give the money back (but not impossible).

Even though the US Treasury is printing dollars day and night and giving money to billionaires, even dead people, I wouldn't go looking for more stimulus for your wife and kids by filling out the non-filers form again. :)

    Good luck.
