  1. Thanks there's still a lot of nervousness until the actual oath happens. And the woman told us 8:30 but later saw the doc says 10:30. I think she had just been telling all the prior people that time and didn't check. We might try the buy and cancel method, even they told us about the certificate possibly getting lost when applying for a passport.
  2. Thank you. So in this case the residency was fine, it was a question if the marital union part was met, in these cases people still get to the interview and get denied because it's not always so clear until the officer gets into the details. I think also the city you're in could possibly have nicer or meaner officers. Although our officer seemed strict, he mentioned he was former military.
  3. Hey party people So months ago I freaked out right after filing after realizing I misunderstood the 90 day rule and marital union. I thought I would withdraw it, but we decided to play it out as a withdrawal would have taken almost as long. The major worry of a denial was changes to the test etc besides paying another fee. Well today was the interview. I was able to enter the building with my spouse and wait with them. The wait was much longer than expected. It was about 1.5 hours until being called. I wasn't allowed into the interview with them. Long story short... APPROVED. They were giving people invites for the oath for the following Monday, but they only to that until 2pm. We were confused if we were supposed to wait or just wait for a letter in the mail. I think the person at the info counter was confused as well, and then one of the workers just decided to schedule us on the spot. They asked if we could do December and asked if there were any plans to travel. I said yes for the holidays, and they said, we'll just schedule you for Monday. So we lucked out on that. There's always that nervousness, what if something happens between now and then. Best of luck to everyone else. Would be glad to answer any questions.
  4. What did you end up doing? We had decided to let it play out, and good thing we did, it ended up working out in our favor. Everything is by chance though, depends on the offer and your unique case
  5. from what I've seen things haven't really changed around this in the interviews so far, but people suspect it will once the new test takes effect
  6. even if not removing conditions? at least here they won't even let you in if you're not required for an interview
  7. They don't interview the spouse for just n400 Congrats
  8. Did you read the invite? it specifically addresses this
  9. So they said that while the officer was looking through their transcripts, they saw that they owed taxes, and I guess they didn't have good enough proof about them being paid. That's the reason I included the account transcript with mine, because it would show a 0 balance.
  10. You need to request it, could be bad news if you don't provide 5 years,
  11. I had to contact my bank to get older statements and they were able to retrieve them for me Me as well, but this person was asked for them at the interview. I'll see if they post anymore info.
  12. I only added the account transcript to show i paid off owed taxes. Hoping they don't ask for actual returns, my assumption is that this person has a special case. This is the answer 🥇
  13. I saw this post on FB for someone who had an interview yesterday which has made me nervous. I had submitted transcripts and account transcript "Federal Plaza NYC office: Hi everyone! The officer said I need to attach my tax return for the last 5 years to my USCIS account (not a transcript! I had that at the interview), and proof of tax payments"
  14. I think you're in the wrong thread
  15. There's no specific timeline, everyones case is unique which can lead to shorter or longer wait times, accompanied by their specific field office. Can you fill out your timeline so we can see your details?
  16. Derp, sorry, I totally missed that. Good luck!
  17. were you also living in marital union for 3 years prior to the 90 days?
  18. well having someone else write your essay won't qualify for being a "good citizen"
  19. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/09/04/trump-administration-citizenship-test-00544390 The Trump administration, in its second term, plans to make the U.S. citizenship test more difficult. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director, Joseph Edlow, stated that the current test is "just too easy" and that applicants can be "coached" on how to pass. The proposed changes include making the test more "thought-provoking" and potentially requiring applicants to write an essay about what becoming an American means to them. The current test requires applicants to correctly answer 6 out of 10 questions from a list of 100, and also to have basic English skills. The new test would be expanded to 20 questions, with applicants needing to answer 12 correctly. These changes are part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to tighten the U.S. immigration system, which also includes expanding USCIS's law enforcement capabilities to combat fraud and resuming practices like interviewing immigration applicants' coworkers and neighbors.
  20. yeah I saw people saying they're waiting up to 7 months for oath ceremony we might get a denial for applying too early, but at least it puts us closer to reapplying.
