This will have no impact on your N400!!!!

.... She asked me how much that was and than chuckled.

During the interview, they will go over every question with you again and you can correct and or add any info at that time.

Thank you both for your quick responses....I am really grateful...Have a good weekend

  2. I was recently (September 2020) cited for speeding (in OHIO) and was penalized two points (in INDIANA). There was no POINTS penalty in Ohio where the speeding ticket was issued. This wasn’t DUI or DWI. In over 14 years of driving this has been my second ticket, first one was in 2012. I have lost sleep over this penalty and its impact on the N400 application. What are the remedial steps to reduce the effect (if any) of my speeding citation on the N400 application?

Please guide...I am a little too worried over this ticket. By the way, there was a 110$ penalty as well which I have already paid before the due date.

Did you mean to say that the Naturalization Certificate was returned to you (at the PASSPORT APPLICATION CENTER - USPS after verification) on the day you applied for your kids passport OR USPS kept the ORIGINAL NATURALIZATION CERTIFICATE along with  your passport and sent them back to you later but on the same day. I thought USPS will require the ORIGINAL NATURALIZATION CERTIFICATE to be brought for the PASSPORT appointment and they will return back it back at the end of the appointment after the USPS verify the documents...

  4. Well, finally the wait is over for my spouse....The oath ceremony was on Tuesday, June 30th at 2:30. It was a very simple easy ceremony. Checked in at 1.45PM only to be sent back and to return at 2:15PM. The ceremony was over at 2:50PM

    Here is the snapshot

    Application filed : 17th November 2019

    Biometrics : 09th December 2019

    Interview : 25th Feb 2020

    Oath : 30th June 2020

Now, here is a trivial piece of advice....Make sure you start from your place to the place of Ceremony atleast an hour and half in advance, make sure you check the traffic on your way and plan an alternate route....We had to drive on I-465 South on the east side of INDY at around 1PM and it was an easy drive. But at the same time, North bound lanes had a heavy traffic jam due to an accident which probably held the traffic for atleast a couple of hours. That stretch of I-465 has no exits at all....So, I was thinking that we were blessed that we didnt have to deal with that situation...So, very very important is the last hour to get to the Ceremony place. You wont regret having arrived earlier by 45 minutes....Dont risk it....And good luck to you all....May all your dreams come true....God Bless America

  5. My spouse recently got the US Citizenship, while I continue to remain on Green Card by choice. We have two kids 15 and 17 years old. Both LPRs, biological children and living with us.

    Now, my question is :

    1) Can we apply for US Passports for all three (US Citizen parent and two kids) at the same time? Or do I have to apply one after the other as we have to send the ORIGINAL NATURALIZATION CERTIFICATE along with each application?

Anyone with similar experience, can you please share your experience?

    Congrats on your upcoming ceremony!

Oh thank you for the greetings. It is for my spouse and may be we are starting thinking too much into it. If it were to be normal ceremony, we could have done it in front of the officer as there is not really a push or rush.

But now, we were caught up thinking of not taking up too much time during these abbreviated ceremonies while filling the forms or be told by the officer that the form should be filled in their presence if we already brought it filled up....

Took my Oath of Allegiance here in Indianapolis today. I just want to encourage you if you haven’t heard anything yet , it will happen !

Would be helpful if you can share your timelines.

When was your N400 approved? Was this your rescheduled appointment?

When did you get your notice for this ceremony? We live in Northeast Indiana and the next Oath ceremony date for this area is in Fort Wayne on the September 11th...

Yea exactly they need to do it every day otherwise the backlog of oath ceremonies will be brutal

They also need to conduct same day oath when the interviews start with social distancing

I have a hunch that they might open up multiple windows like US Consulates and make it a daily activity till the load becomes manageable for big ceremonies

I contacted Senator in my state and they replied with generic e-mail that they will relay the information to USCIS. They also sent me Privacy release form so they could ask my case to be looked at. Honestly what they sent me was not convincing. I am going to wait until June 4th and see how USCIS acts.

That privacy release form is as good as you getting hold of L2 USCIS staff when you call 1 800 375 5283 and request an update....

Just express your opinion in your words. No need to worry about academic language etc. My email was pretty short, around 5 sentences. I wrote like why all companies implemented online technologies but USCIS no, also mentioned coming election, and what in general the process is very long and with Covid is getting worse, blablabla.
Senator is a good idea also, plus Nancy Pelosi.

I tried with my Senator here. Visited his website and wrote a message. In most cases, matters like these will be handled by one of Senator's staff who handle the immigration. So got a reply back from someone else in his office with a standard verbiage "We recommend you to wait with patience till June 4th......."

I had asked "If senator's office had any updates on how the future oath ceremonies would be scheduled as the Court houses are closed. And would the Field offices consider conducting daily ceremonies or would Senator's office be able to interact with Field offices and recommending to pick up the ceremonies on a case to case basis". I wasnt too optimistic about Senator's office being able to help us. Also, the lady (Senator's staff) was a little blunt and almost implied like we have other things going on...as well...

Most likely the governor will extend the stay order, that’s why the virtual ceremony is the only way,

Again, what’s the priority of this matter in the Governor’s list? Would you all agree this (Governor pushing USCIS and to conduct virtual or small size oath ceremonies) will need atleast 6-8 working/business days if pushed aggressively? And for what? Some 100,000 people’s votes..They are already GC holders, so their livelihood in US isnt in any danger. During these times of crisis, voting rights is a nice to have (at least this is how USCIS would argue for not escalating the urgency of oath ceremonies). So they will take it when ever they are ready. I would want my family member to be administered oath right now..but is that going to happen? I doubt it...I am preparing for the worst and hoping for the best...

  12. I don’t want to sound negative, but this update of USCIS is dated back to March 18th...And yet there is no progress on their arrangements. I have a family member waiting for oath too..Seems like USCIS is absolutely in no hurry for Oath ceremonies...

    New update from Uscis:

    • In certain limited situations, USCIS may be able to perform small naturalization ceremonies for limited numbers of applicants, when it is feasible and all appropriate precautions can be taken.
    • Applicants who are requesting a name change must wait for a judicial ceremony.

Good news congrats! I'm hoping that the oath ceremonies will be more determined based on what is happening in the local community in terms of shutdown status rather than the local office status. For example ours was canceled because the local venue where it was supposed to take place shut down operations that week even though ceremonies happened the same week in other places.

I only hope the local offices come up with other alternatives to ease the rush....Instead of waiting on the Judicial ceremonies. Like the ones they (field offices) hold on the same day of the interview.

I never got the quality review step on my case status, but all cases go through quality review so... 🤷‍♀️  Does it say anywhere on yours approval/awaiting oath or similar?  If not yet it could be that your case is delayed at the QR step. If it’s already listed as approved somewhere else then...who knows

When we login to my account in USCIS, there it says We approved your application..

    Hello

interview for naturalization was in jan

was told decision cannot be made since this is based on marriage

today i checked the account it has two updates .

    first approved

then after that you attended the interview

does this mean that i am approved or are they still thinking about it ?

    image.png.6fae029d2791dbc0e2a7ff5ca1c90cc1.png

On USCIS Case status tool (https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do) does it say

"Case Was Submitted For Quality Review Based On An Approval Recommendation"

  16. USCIS website states   "...USCIS plans to begin reopening our offices on May 4, unless the public closures are extended further. USCIS staff are continuing to perform duties that do not involve contact with the public......"  .

Does this mean, they are still scheduling  and rescheduling (interviews and oath ceremonies)? As the offices continue to remain closed....Can I hope to get any communication from USCIS before May 3rd? I dont know if the staff are working from home. I doubt it, given the nature of sensitive information and the security required. And if they are not working from home, the lockdown will not allow them to go to office. Which means the information on USCIS website is misleading....

    Any thoughts, fellow members???
