Going through putting my package together at the moment. The instructions do clearly state evidence should include affidavits from people who know you.

I know that they are weak evidence, but since they are one of the few things explicitly called out by the instructions, I will probably be including a couple. Not saying this to be a pedant, just something that has been nagging at me recently.

Otherwise, looks similar to mine. Good luck! :)

    Hello,

I think you are referring to number 5 below “The documents should include, but not limited, to the following examples.” For me, interpretation of “examples” means just what can be included, not what has to be included. I always thought affidavits were included for those with weaker evidence. Nonetheless, I’ll take it into consideration. Thank you.

Looks good! How many pages are the "all bank statements"? If that comes down to hundreds of pages, that might be overkill and you could just decide to send a statement for every quarter from the last years.

I was thinking that, too. I just remember someone strongly recommending including all statements, but I think I’ll go with quarterly statements based on the other comments. Thank you!

  3. Hello VJ community!

My wife’s green card expires on 4/13/24, so I am in the process of gathering documents and wanted people’s feedback on our items.

    - Table of contents

    - Check for $680

    - Front and back copies of wife’s green card

    - Copy of marriage certificate

    (For evidence of continued marriage)

    - Tax transcripts from the last three years

    - Car insurance with both of our names listed

    - Apartment leasing contracts from 2020 to 2024

    - All joint bank statements from October 2021

    - Recent photos together

    - Copies of both our driver’s licenses

    - Recent pay stubs to show our same residence address

Please let me know if I am missing anything or any other additional feedback. Thank you!

  4. Hello, so my wife finally received her letter with the interview date (set for April 13). It says on the checklist that “If required, a completed Form I-864, Affidavit(s) of Support, with all required evidence (unless already submitted).” Now, obviously, we already submitted the I-864 back in 2020 with our AOS package. During that time, I had been employed for only four months, so even though my income was 3x the poverty amount, I included a joint sponsor. Now, I have been at the same job with a higher salary (over two years), and my wife also has a job. Should we fill out a new I-864? We are already planning to take (as financial proof): employment verification letters, 3 months worth of paystubs, and our 2021 tax return transcript. Also, do we have to update the I-485 form with my wife’s new employment status?

*Also, I don’t think it would be worth taking my joint sponsor’s documents, since we don’t need them to meet the income requirement.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I think if it’s all possible to update your DL with current address. I think there’s a rule where you are required to update upon 10 days of moving pr or something. Also, if it’s not too much money, try at least an ID for your wife with current address. You can get it easily get that with EAD

We are required to update the address online for the DL, but I can only apply for a new DL if I lost it. Also, my DL renewal is coming up in a few months, so there is no point to apply for a duplicate license. I will try to look into getting an ID for the wife, though.

IDs. They make copies of both IDs at interview. Just make sure the addresses match.

Also, some current pictures of you both together (not wearing masks). I believe the interview lady took 3 pics from us from an album we brought in.

My wife does not have a driver’s license or state license yet. She does have an EAD card, but I don’t think that has our address. My driver’s license has my old address because it was issued/renewed five years ago. I think our joint lease contracts can show we have been living together at the same place since marriage. We don’t have many recent photos together due to staying in most of the time (pandemic), but we’ll take some couple photos before the interview.

    Thank you for the tips.

    No.

You  will need your USA birth certificate, CRBA, certificate of citizenship, or certificate of naturalization

Also your pay stubs for the past 90 days and 2020 tax transcript

Thank you. I assume a US passport would suffice as well?

Your interview appointment letter has a list.

Thank you. I just received the status update today, so will be on the look out for the letter.

  8. Hello,

My wife’s case status finally updated to “Interview Was Scheduled”. I just wanted to get some tips on what documents I should bring to the interview.

    1. Original I-485 application (the employment part needs to be updated because my wife started working last year)

    2. Wife’s birth certificate

    3. We had to submit an I-944 form back then. Do we need to bring this in since it is no longer a requirement?

    4. Marriage certificate

    5. Joint bank statement

    6. Joint lease contract

    7. Wife’s passport, EAD card, and social security card

    8. I-864

    - We initially used a joint sponsor, but my salary back then was already 3x the poverty line. I used a joint sponsor anyway because I had been working at the job for only four months. Currently, I’ve been at the same job with a higher salary for over two years and my wife also has been working since last October. Should we bring an updated I-864 with our paystubs and employment verification papers?

    9. Three years of tax returns

Are there any other documents we should bring?

    Thank you.

You lose nothing filing an e-request when the time comes. Hopefully that will trigger an approval -if it's not already in the process-.

Truly sorry you've waited for this long.

    Best wishes!

Thank you! I found out that the processing time changed from 6-13.5 months, so I submitted an e-request just now. Got an email confirmation that said they will reply by 9/26/21, so fingers crossed…

Check the I-765 and I-131 receipt notices. It should say "National Benefits Center." I-765 and I-131 are adjudicated at NBC.

Your wife can submit an inquiry today because it's already way past the NBC processing times: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ 9 Months to 9.5 Months  Based on a pending I-485 adjustment application [(c)(9)]

    Thanks! Just did!

  10. Hello, all. So, I filed my I-485, I-131, and I-765 on July 8, 2020. My wife, the one adjusting status, only recently had her Biometrics appointment on August 20, 2021. About a week after, my case status for I-485 changed to “Ready to Be Scheduled for an Interview”. I understand that there could be a long wait to get the actual interview scheduled. However, I was wondering if my wife’s EAD combo card would come anytime soon. I checked the case processing time for I-765 in California, and it was 6.5-14.5 months. We would actually hit the 14.5-month mark at the end of this month. I was planning to file an e-request if nothing updates by October 1. Do you think this would help expedite her EAD combo card issuance?

  11. Hello,

I filed my I-485 along with the I-131 and I-765 on July 8, 2020. I received an NOA 1 within three weeks. I also got an RFE, which I responded promptly to, and USCIS confirmed the RFE was received in early September of 2020. After that, I have received zero updates. No biometrics appointment letter… nada. I’m located in the east bay area (30 minutes from San Francisco). Should I continue to just wait, or should I call USCIS and see what is going on?
