You might want to look into form https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-your-form-g-28 which should allow you to regain control of the case.
You shouldn't need infopass to change address, but the way info pass done currently (this is a change from what procedure used to be) is by calling USCIS first then explaining why you need in person appointment, then if they agree, they will make one for you on the phone, but typically this is a painful and very hit and miss process.

I'm sure people have abused it. I'm also sure many have not. That's why abuse cases are handled by specific officers adapt at those types of cases.

What have your lawyer done for you?

Not guided you right for you case. You have an RFE that have been pending a long time. What does your case tracker say? Where does your mail go to now that you haven't changed address?
She has also told you to lie to USCIS about your address which is a no no and she has not done anything to check up on your case.
You have to take all of this into your own hands.

https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange This outlines procedures for name change, including cases of Domestic abuse. I believe address change can be done online, but USCIS does have a tendency to be slow on the update and updating their system, so I would call a week or two after requesting name change, and make sure it is updated in their system, and they know you now have different field office.

My attorney filed I-751 (because I already had my 2 year Green Card and he divorced me before 2 years were over) with an extreme cruelty waiver.
