  1. Update:

We attempted to do a walk in biometrics this morning at the Phoenix office. We brought our appointment letter and proof of being out state during scheduled (8/25) biometrics appointment.

They said we need an appointment for that specific day to enter. They said the only way to work around the system is to try to schedule an InfoPass appointment and possibly get it done sooner. They said we could make an appointment for whatever reason. As long as we have an appointment and go in on that same day, they could do the biometrics early.

Calling USCIS is a joke. It's a 1.5-2 hour hold. You need a legitimate reason to schedule an InfoPass appointment. It's nearly impossible. Depending on the reason, they'll contact you within 72 hours to 20 days to schedule the appointment if they feel it's necessary.

Walk-ins at ASC is still available.  You have to follow COVID procedures.  So the only person that can come to appot is the one being fingerprinted.

    Thanks 😊

Here's my friend's story, she's not on Visajourney and I thought it may be helpful for others, so she lives in Austin TX, with a local office in San Antonio, she applied on November 1st 5 year rule, so on July 13th her status changed from "received" to " biometric appointment was scheduled" (not reuse) and also the letter was uploaded into her document tab, the biometrics were scheduled for August 6th, she called me to that and I told her do not wait and to go there immediately to see if they can squeeze her in right away, so she did go there on the 14th, she got there at 10am no people were there and they let her in without any explanation why she wants to do it earlier, so, at 1pm her status changed from "biometrics scheduled" to "case is being actively reviewed by USCIS" on the 15th (next day) her status changed again to "interview was scheduled" for August 24th

Hope it will be helpful 😃😃😃

    Lol thank you Timona-)🤞

    I appreciate the information.

  3. Update!!!

The reps at the Arizona DMV don't have access to process a driver's license extension based on a pending AOS

We contacted a manager in the office of constituent services at the DMV. He was able to extend my husband's driver's license for one year (one year from the date on the AOS NOA) with a copy of our marriage certificate and an AOS notice of action letter showing the application is being processed. They were able to verify his information through the SAVE system.

  4. Hi,

My husband got his driver license during his first 90 days in the US. They put an expiration date using the date his I-94 expires....which is today. He went to the DMV to see if they'd renew his license with the I-797C, Notice of Action and they said no. They said they can renew it with a work permit, but not a letter showing we applied and it's being processed. Anybody from AZ have a similar experience or able to do a temporary renewal with the NOA

Yes, basically I did a search right here on VJ on how to expedite. There was a poster who posted his success story and I basically took the same draft of his request letter and made it my own. Of course I included the job proposal letter (very important of course) and explained with everything going on in the world, we are fortunate to even have a job offer especially with no certainty on what this year brings. Also in him being able to get EAD, it will also enable him to get his drivers license here in CA. He can start working Uber in the evenings after work. Lots of opportunity. He will then be a taxpayer as the rest of us are. When we made the request over the phone we had to wait for the email which told us exactly what to fax in. We faxed it and it only took 5 days. I believe that him having a social security may have helped. At least thats my opinion. Good Luck.

    Hi,

Can you link the poster who you referenced so we can take a look? Do you need to wait for the biometrics letter in the mail or can you set it up ahead of time? Thanks for your help.

  6. Hi,

On the I-864 form, part 3 #1 - I am sponsoring the principal immigrant in Part 2. I'm confused if I should be answering yes or no. I'm not sponsoring any other people besides my spouse and there are no joint sponsor's.

Under part 5, spouse's household size lists 3 people and it should be 2 people. If I enter 1 for being currently married, it brings my household size to 3 people. It says to list 1 for the number entered in part 3, item number 29 which is 1 person. Enter 1 for myself and enter 1 for my spouse if I"m currently married. What am I missing?

does anyone know how long it takes for the embassy to review/approve if they get the 221g and do the medical after the interview?

Our medical was on Nov 4th and Visa was approved on Nov 20th. You should allow at least 2 weeks.

Yes it can be done after the interview.

    Thanks 😊

Yup unfortunately medical appointments are so few now due to social distance

You will just get a 221g at the interview temporary refusal until the medical results are received

    OK great. Thank you 😊

This is what I received today when I emailed them:

DUE TO THE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN THE COVID-19 CASELOADS IN JAMAICA, THE CONSULAR SECTION AT THE U.S. EMBASSY IN KINGSTON HAS CANCELLED APPOINTMENTS SCHEDULED FROM SEPTEMBER 8, 2020 ONWARD. IF YOU ARE IN RECEIPT OF AN EMAIL OR PHONE CALL ADVISING OF THIS CANCELLATION, PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS VALID AND WE WILL BE IN CONTACT WITH YOU ONCE WE ARE ABLE TO RESCHEDULE YOUR INTERVIEW.

I'm sorry to hear that. Ugh 😢😢😢

So is the embassy really canceling interviews until further notice? Like we’ve waiting the whole year todo the drug test and all we have left is the medical again and interview. There has to be an exception to this. Is anyone having this problem?

Where did you hear that? 😒😒😒

Yep. Has the case been sent to the embassy yet? What stage are you in the process?

Our case just got to the embassy on Monday.

If they don't have a passport yet, you likely haven't even began the process of application yet - because you must have a passport to even submit the petition.

That's what held up our petition for nearly a year - getting his passport.

    Good luck!

Our case arrived at the Embassy on Monday. The petition has already been approved.

He needs a passport. Does he not have a passport? Because he can't get a visa without the passport either.

He's in the process of getting his passport and the other documents he needs. I guess he'll need to wait til his passport comes back to apply for the police record.
