I have a trip outside US 45 days after the N400 interview. Can I have the oath ceremony to be scheduled after I come back from the trip or do they decide the oath ceremony date for us? Has anyone scheduled their ceremony like that?

Yes.
@Patrón, you can ask at the interview if they will let you schedule a later date for the oath ceremony.
I will do that so I dont have to worry about passport being expedited. I just hope that they will let me do that.

If I am not mistaken, wouldn't it be possible to go for the interview but postpone the oath until after returning? Then traveling on the old passport would still work. Please correct me if I am wrong.
This would be the best solution if they will let me schedule oath after i return. Thanks

Hi all,
I don't know why I thought I would be able to travel with my Canadian passport after my oath ceremony. I even wrote that I would be traveling outside of the country over Christmas in my interview, and I got my oath ceremony appointment for tomorrow, 12/18. I don't leave until the 24th, and then when I was doing further research, I saw that I need a US passport to travel to a foreign country. This means, that I will need to get a passport between tomorrow, and the 24th which will probably be a holiday. On top of that, I am starting to see that one is supposed to notify (in person) to Social Security that there is a status change. Can I do this after i get my passport? i know this is crazy becuase I am due for my oath tomorrow morning at 8:30am but if anyone can help, please do!
Thanks,
Sincerely,
freaked out person!
I am almost in same situation now. How did it go for you? Thank you.

You might qualify to apply for an emergency passport after the oath ceremony if travel is planned.
We simply stated, in a letter, that we request a combo interview since we had been waiting a long time. Did it work? I'm not sure....I do know it didn't hurt.
Thank you.

Once you have taken the oath of citizenship, you will have to travel with a US passport. Current expedite time is 3 to 5 weeks after submitting the Passport application.
That means I will have to move the trip to later date. Looking at your timeline I saw that you uploaded request for combo interview, I did not do that. How does the request look?
Can I still do it because my i751 is still pending? -
I just got my interview scheduled for March. I am planning on going outside US in May. Do I need to apply for US passport after naturalization? In that case i dont think the. passport will come on time for me to travel in May. Or will I be able to use my old passport?
Please let me know if anyone had the same issue. Thank you. -
