    I will make it simple for you;

    - If you go back without having AP on your hands, your application is deemed abandoned and you will have to start with a CR1.

    - If you want to continue with the K1, forget about traveling unless you can have the AP.

Evaluate and make an informed choice.

    Yeah. I get that. Thanks.

If you know you'll abandon AOS, the US citizen can file I-130 online to start IR-1/CR-1 process: https://www.uscis.gov/i-130 You can visit the US with ESTA while you wait: https://uk.usembassy.gov/information-for-nonimmigrant-visa-applicants-following-the-coronavirus-covid-19-outbreak/

    • Do not attempt to check in for your flight online if you have an ESTA registration.
    • Arrive early for your flight.
    • Carry any documentation that you believe demonstrates why you have been excepted from a travel restriction, such as a Permanent Resident card (commonly known as a Green Card), a marriage certificate, or a birth certificate, so that it is available if it is requested for review.
    • You may also wish to carry a copy of the Presidential Proclamation itself.
    • Your status will be reviewed in consultation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials.

Thanks for the tips. I didnt know about the ESTA thing. I bet I am still 'current'.

There are some helpful posts on the USCIS subreddit about this. Try searching there.

    Thanks - I'll look.

I think others in similar situations were able to setup an infopass appointment to get an emergency AP.
I am sure others will chime in though. Get together any proof you can about the failing health as they will want it. (dr notes and stuff like that)

Beg your pardon, an infopass appointment? I'll google it now. I have never heard of it.

I have all thre letters re Cancer/Hip Operations - etc all sent to me.

  3. Chaps, I have my adjustment of status, request to travel and auth for work all sent in and waiting for next stages: on a K1 Visa.

HOWEVER, I have an urgent requirement to go back to the UK due to my parents health failing rapidly (Not COVID).

I tried to call the help line, but the computer system for calls gives me the run around and then kicks me off.

I dont want to go back without advice, but I have no choice, after 18 months of work into this.....

Who can I talk to? What number should I call?

I have emailed but I never hear back for 6 weekds normally when I do that......

    Thanks

Have you applied for an EAD card?

I was able to get a driver's permit without an SSN.

    THANKS :)

Are you still eligible for a SSN? Your timeline doesn’t say when you entered the US. When does your I-94 expire?

I think you will need an EAD Card to get a driver license in Tennessee. Proof of legal presence—-

(I don’t think a K1 visa will satisfy the second item because it’s only a 90 day visa)

    • Conditional Resident Alien Card (I-551)
    • Valid Foreign Passport with Valid Visa and I-94 attached
    • (Note: The passport must have an English translation)
    • Valid Foreign Passport with I-94W attached
      • Holders of F1, F2, M1, or M2 status should also present a valid SEVIS I-20
      • Holders of J1 or J2 status should also present a valid DS-2019
    • Temporary Resident Identification Card (I-688)
    • Employment Authorization Card (I-766)

Thank you - updated my records now......

Sorry my mistake, you need 1 extra day.

Proclamation states if you were present in a banned country ‘14 days prior to your entry or attempted entry’. If I count backwards from your expected entry date, I arrive at the date you were still present in the U.K.

You have to say till 12th - you need 14 full days in Mexico

Did you called them and ask about it? Cause I read your second link and it clearly states that the SSN requirement is only for people who have one.

    I'll call tomorrow.

Damn I didnt see that it was a requirement only for those that have it - thats good :)

    Thanks

You have to do it in person because you definitely don't want to mail them your passport. But you don't need a SSN to get married. If your county for whatever reasons requires that you have one go and get married in another county

Thank you - I'll see what I can do.

Problem is - for Nashville - you submit the request online - then files is centrally no matter what county.

    and HERE: http://www.nashvilleclerk.com/living/marriage-license/

    :)

  8. Quick one - I hope.

How does one apply for a SSN (needed for a mariage license) - when the offices are shut? (Covid)

Can you do it online ? I have tried to look... (Tennessee Offices)

I filled out my SS5, I have my passport, with Visa, I have the I-94 in hand..... ( I dont THINK I need anything else)

    Any help would be great.

I was about to buy my fiancé a ticket today but decided not to. I spoke with a coworker from Mexico today and she said Mexico City is pretty dangerous if you’re not from there because you stick out like a sore thumb. I’d rather my fiancé be safe and alive with an expired visa at this point.

Depends where you stay I guess like anywhere.

It seems a little different to what I am used to - but not that different to Spain.

I couldn't look less Mexican at 6ft 4, grey beard and hair down past my shoulders.

No one has given me a second look.

I ask my BnB hosts where is safe and follow their lead.

Perhaps its not for everyone. But for me, all I wanted was 14 day stay, hunker down, speak to almost no-one - leave.
