ConfusedPigeons reacted to Jamie B in London CR1 / IR1 Appointment Updates
Sounds like you're close to the getting the visa hopefully. Fingers crossed. I was approved at interview last Thursday 8th and status changed to 'Ready' here - https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx - on same day which is where you're at now I guess. On Monday morning, it changed to 'Administrative Processing' and then a few hours later to the final stage which was 'Issued'. I had an email from the courier the same evening saying the passport would arrive today. And so it did - arrived via courier in Edinburgh this afternoon. Actually the postman just dumped it in my letterbox without any verification! I jumped on here and paid the $220 USCIS Immigrant Fee - https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-fees/uscis-immigrant-fee - booked and attended my COVID-19 PCR test this evening, booked an airport hotel, flight, hire car, filled out the UK travel declaration here - https://travel-declaration.dft.gov.uk - and heading down to Heathrow to fly back to the missus in MIA on Friday. It's nice to know this part of the process is speeding up for everyone to follow. Long may it continue...

CR1 - DQ'd 8th October, original interview on 01/03 was postponed to 08/04 but finally approved at interview yesterday. Very straightforward interview process and it all went smoothly at the London Embassy. They're super professional but friendly working in a modern, clean and very spacious building. Couldn't help but let out a little cheer when the interviewer said she'd approve our visa at the interview window!! The whole process was 1 hour, but most of that was made up by waiting between the two stages of presenting documents (stage 1) and the interview itself (stage 2). I will post a full review later but SO, SO relieved and SO, SO happy to be near the end of our rollercoaster immigration journey. Just waiting for my passport to be couriered back up to me in Edinburgh in the next week or two / Thank you to everyone on here for their support and information and good luck to everyone who is waiting at the different stages.

Interview date received for 8 March (we DQ'd on 20 October)! SO great to be able to write that down!
Not that I'm getting ahead of myself or anything.... but looking at the list of things we need to take to the interview, one is the confirmation page from the Form DS-260 Application. I've had a look but not sure what this is, can anyone shed any light on it? I can find the online form with alllllll the reams of information therein, but unless they just want a print out of the initial landing page where my name and case number are listed with 'complete' in the status box, then I'm at a loss!
Thanks in advance for anyone who might be able to help :)

Thanks mates. You are all part of the family here. So glad you found this little niche of VJ where you can ask specifics about London interviews, medicals, or anything else more specific to Brits. Processes can vary by location so it’s a good place to find the London vibe. Interviews are so short and friendly and nothing to be nervous about...if you could just get a date!!! Right?

I had my visa interview at the embassy in London yesterday (the 21st). We were DQ'd on Sept 21st September, and had the appointment scheduled on 15th December. I travelled down from Aberdeen for it, and I had previously travelled down in October to have my medical done. My appointment was at 9am, I turned up at 8.45 and I was the second in the queue at the window to check in. I was taken through security, and was in the building waiting to be called by 9am.
I initally was called up to one booth, and had to show my origial paperwork (I brought EVERYTHING with me just in case) and was asked for my birth cert, wedding cert, police checks (for Ireland and UK - I'm Irish), one US sized passport photo and my passport. He took my finger prints and asked a few questions - had I been married before, did I have a previous US visa, when am I planning on going to the US? He asked if I had had my medical, when I said yes he went into the back office and came back with my medical file (whew). He assembled them all into a folder, and asked me to sit back down. I was called to another booth a couple of minutes later, and I had to swear an oath I was telling the truth, and they checked my fingerprints again. I was given back my origial paperwork (apart from passport) and then I was asked a few questions: how had I met my husband? Where was he living at the time we met? We chatted for a couple of minutes as I explained our situation and that we were moving to the US for his work. She said ok, I will go ahead and issue your visa. Wow! It was literally that fast. I was back out on the street by 9.30. Amazing. Everyone was friendly, the set up is very efficent and clearly guided - it has been the most straightforward part of this whole process!! I'm waiting for my visa to be returned by courier, they said it will be 1 - 2 weeks for that.
They did make sure I knew I must enter the US before my medical expires (6 months from when you take it) which was appreciated - I had known that and it fits with our plans. But worth mentioning to anyone trying to decide if they should get their medical ahead of time (like I did) or to wait until your interview date is scheduled. I took a gamble mine would work out - and luckily for me it did, but I knew it was a risk and I might need to take the medical again if it didn't.
Good luck everyone - this is quite the roller coaster we are on!

Ooh - I forgot to give a shout out to the fantastic hotel I stayed in when I was in Vauxhall for my interview - it was lush! It's the Staybridge Suites, 100 Vauxhall Walk. Each room has a wee kitchen, a comfy bed, a small living area with tv and a fab bathroom, as well as a really great breakfast included. Super nice staff too. It's a 15 min walk to the embassy from there, and was so nice to have a kitchen and a bit more space. I called ahead to make sure they would accept my booking - thankfully they would, they said an embassy appointment is on the 'accepted' list of reasons to book. It was £77 a night - they have reduced rates at the moment, a total bargain. Really peaceful and quiet too - would really recommend!

Can anyone confirm for certain that they are NOT an expedite and have been scheduled?
Just wanted to verify that this is actually something new and not just a slew of Expedite's getting approved

Unless I'm reading this wrong according to https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/AnnualReports/FY2019AnnualReport/FY19AnnualReport-TableVI-Part1.pdf
It looks like the UK Embassy only did 440 Family Preference Immigrant Visas last year.
Which would break down to around 40 a month.
Subtract from that all the lucky expedites jumping the que for the last 5 months and were looking at a backlog of less then 200?
In comparison
Per https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/AnnualReports/FY2019AnnualReport/FY19AnnualReport-TableXV.pdf
UK processed 3,898 Immigrant Visa's in all categories.
- and -
According to https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/AnnualReports/FY2019AnnualReport/FY19AnnualReport- TableIV.pdf
The embassy processed about 150,000 total visas ... both immigrant and non last year
So hopefully even with whatever new procedures that are in place hopefully once the flood gates open it shouldn't be to bad before they are caught up. At least that's the half glass full view point.
A glass half empty might look at those numbers and say "So what's taking them so long to process a measly 200 applications".
