NVC has a contact page; I recommend using that to contact them explaining your situation to get a letter

While I just sent an email to the NVC, the NVC site says that currently it takes about 1.5 months to get back to inquiries.

I wonder if the checklist provided by the NVC when my case number is assigned contains links to such NVC request form letters.. Anyone else have any experience with this?

According to the Department of State document reciprocity site:  India police certificates are not available if not currently residing in India

For Singapore the site has specific directions for how to acquire

Official sites are notorious in self contradicting themselves I have come to find through this process. While I have stumbled upon what you say, I also found that you can get Police Certificates in embassies for Indians not residing in India.

The requirements for both is to bring a letter from NVC.

  3. Dear all,

I have a quick question, that I can't find any answers to on VJ or the official sites.  We Just got our I-130 approved, and I will be needing to get Police certificates from both Singapore and an Indian embassy for the NVC stage.

Looking at the Police Request forms, both Singapore and the Indian embassy require a request letter from the authority requiring these Police Reports.

The local USA embassy told me that in order to apply for Police Clearances, I can get a request letter from the National Visa Center.

Since I can't see any links or info to such letters, how do I get them? Do I get access to it once I receive my case number from the NVC?

Thanks in advance for any info.

  4. Thank you everyone for the feedback. At this stage we are considering having the baby outside the US. Our priority is to get the Visa approved though before she is too pregnant since that will give us options.

At this stage I am not considering leaving my wife to have the baby alone while I am in the US looking for a job. I am trying my best to get everything together to get our Visa on time, as getting it in Singapore is ideal, since transferring the case to India will greatly delay our case (the Mumbai embassy has long waits for the interviews).

  5. Hello,

Context: My wife and I live in Singapore. I am American, she is Indian. She's now pregnant and due to the pregnancy had to resign her job as a flight attendant. So her Work Visa got cancelled, and we got her a dependent pass (which took 2 days.. Thank you Singapore) based on my Work Visa. So we are both in Singapore on my work visa. She is due to deliver June, and my contract ends June as well (my company is closing and I might lose my job even before that). So we can't have the baby in Singapore since my work visa will soon be invalid and we will have to leave. Our original plan was to rent an apartment in India right before she is too pregnant to travel, have the baby there, and wait out the Visa process there.

We just got our I-130 approved. Now I am gathering all the documents so we can get the Visa as quickly as possible in case we get it on time. I want to have the baby in the US (where we have family) and I have the financial means to pay for the delivery. I do want to insure her though for any other unforeseen and financially disastrous medical expenses.

Now I see this new law that requires immigrants to show proof of getting private health insurance within 30 days. We can't do that because pregnancy is a pre-existing condition. I can't insure her through the ACA because from what I'm reading another recent law denies VISAS to immigrants using the ACA? I can't apply for a job until I know when we will have her visa and head back to the US. I can't leave her alone in Singapore because we are not permanent residents here.

What are my options? Is there any way to get her a private insurance for my pregnant wife that will satisfy these new laws if they go into effect?

We've filed on October 29th, I'm just now hearing about this I129 form being filed to expedite the I130. I still have not heard anything as of yet, we have received the NOA1 back in November Of last year, but nothing else. My question in filling this form will I have to submit all our documents again or are we sending in the form??? I'm really pissed this has dragged on for so long, being that others are getting theirs approved way before us after filing way after. Not truly understanding any of this and I'm about to blow a casket because to me this is one foolish, unpleasantness that I'm feeling in regards to this process....

Well this I129f is not meant to expedite the process, so you wouldn't have heard about it other than in this thread.. I asked a lawyer about it and they told me there is nothing I can do to expedite my case and that currently I130s take a year to get approved. My lawyer also said there is no harm in filing a K3, but that they take about 9 months to process. I went ahead and did it anyways and it worked (the I129f was processed in ~1 month and 10 days). So I am truly thankful to the people who shared in the forum (plus I lost my faith in lawyers who should be aware of loop holes in the timelines)... I think since you are getting into one year margin, you should be expecting the approval soon, but since there is no fee in the I129f (if you have already filed a I130), maybe there is no harm I guess in submitting one....?

    Hey y'all,

This is my first time posting, but I just got my i-130 approved (recently filed a i-129f) so I would like to share my info so I can add some more data points for you all:

    Our CR1 Journey So Far:

    USCIS Stage:

    • Feb 25 2019: Sent I-130 package
    • March 11 2019: I130 NOA1 (Nebraska Service Center)
    • Sep 10 2019: Sent I-129f
    • Sep 20 2019: I-129f NOA1
    • Oct 26 2019: I-130 NOA2 (Approved via email - 229 days from NOA1)

Looks like the I-129f still expedites the process. I was expecting the I-129f denial any day now as our turn was coming up based on the info posted by you guys! Thank you all for posting about it, we really needed help as we are stuck abroad and pregnant! :)

Now I need to get organized for the next stage!

Sorry correction: my I-129f NOA1 was Sep 16 (not Sep 20) (& I just got the denial email)
