Congratulations!! We also found out that we're expecting almost 3 months after we got married and will be showing up to our interview with a newborn too, I'd assume  So exciting!

I filed my AOS on November 17th and received my biometrics appointment letter yesterday for a January 10th appointment in Indianapolis. Our package was forwarded to the National Benefits Center from Chicago, which happens to be the slowest location. I'm not sure if all AOS from K1 go to this location, but I'm hoping it gets forwarded elsewhere or they speed things along soon.

Everyone goes into AP for a day or two before they mail you your passport back :) I think it’s just because they’re physically working on your visa so it shows AP. If they said you’re approved at the interview then you are!

Just wanted to post a little update and say that my passport was ready for pickup at 9:20 this morning - quicker than the original expected date! I will be moving next weekend, so I'm very relieved that it came much quicker than 2 weeks

I also had my interview on the 11th at 7:30AM and was so nervous I felt nauseous the entire time, haha. I was asked for about 1/8th of the documentation I had brought, but I figure it was still good that I brought extra in case I was asked for it. My interview was about 3-4 minutes long, in which I was asked:

    1. How long have you and your fiance known each other and how frequently have you seen each other in the last year (we worked together for 4 of the 5 years he was in Canada, and I have seen him 9 times in the last year since he's moved back to Indiana, so she did not ask me much about our relationship beyond these two questions)
    2. Have you ever been arrested anywhere in the world?
    3. Have you ever had trouble crossing the border?
    4. Do you have a date for your wedding?

At the end she told me that my case was one of the simplest and strongest cases she has come across so she has no problem approving my visa. She wished me well and congratulated me and off I went! This morning I received an email from Canada Post saying that my passport had been collected and expected delivery date is Tuesday, September 17th. I live in Calgary, but I am sure it would be a similar shipping time frame most places in Canada.

I left anything that didn't apply to me blank and it wasn't an issue! I've heard of people writing "N/A" on those lines and it being okay as well.

I went to Dr. Cheema yesterday and can also share my experience! There was a really sweet lady at reception who took my paperwork and verified and photocopied my information (vaccinations, current and anticipated addresses, passport photos, etc.) and then asked me to wait. A nurse called me shortly after and took my weight and height, then she explained what was going to happen and left the room. Dr. Cheema came in a few minutes later and quickly went over his checklist of questions (prior surgeries, vaccinations, medications), and then looked at my ears, eyes and throat, and then pushed down on my abdomen and told me I was good to go; he spent maybe 4 or 5 minutes with me total and was very nice. The nurse came back in and gave me the requisition for my X-ray and blood/urine tests, and sent me on my way. I live in Calgary so there was an extra charge of $40.00 to have my results couriered to me, but they do next day delivery (so 4 days after your appointment) which is nice.

The X-ray clinic is about 1.5km up the road and the blood/urine lab was about 1 block further than the X-ray clinic. I waited about 30 minutes for my X-ray and 60 minutes for the lab. I think this was, in part, due to my appointment being at 10:20 so by the time I made it to those other appointments it was around lunch time and packed. Quick note: I drank two water bottles before going to the lab because I knew I would have to give a urine sample, but they don't give you the cup until after you give blood, so be prepared to have to wait a while with a full bladder!

    Hope this helps

It's really a shame they stopped the Vancouver consulate K1 interviews two years ago. Definitely seems like it would be helpful now. (and save my fiance a plane ticket to Montreal, lol)

I just had my medical with Dr. Cheema on July 24th for my Interview August 7th. When I was there they gave me the option, they said I could pick it up 2 business days after between 4 and 5 or they could mail it to me and that would be an extra charge and would take approx one week. The medical is available for pick up from 9am-2pm on Saturdays as well @QueenieBonds

On Dr. Cheema's website (https://www.drgulzarcheema.com/index-3.html)  it says:

"PLEASE NOTE: THE MEDICAL REPORT WILL BE AVAIABLE FOR PICK UP IN THREE BUSINESS DAYS BETWEEN 4-5PM AFTER YOUR MEDICAL EXAM as the lab takes two business days to process the lab results.
We could also arrange for a courier service on an applicant’s request on exam day. An applicable courier fee will be charged."

It might be at the discretion of the doctor you have your appointment with, I'm not sure!

My interview is on September 11th and I booked my appointment in Surrey for August 26th. I think it takes 3 business days for them to get your results and then you can either pick them up or have them sent to your house. I would say give it at least a week and a half if you're having it mailed, just in case.

Sometimes there is a program associated with payroll that the employee can access electronically, or they can ask the HR/Payroll department for a paper copy of the pay stub. For example, my work uses a program called PayWorks, and I have direct deposit, but I can also log onto the PayWorks website and print any pay stub I want from any pay period. Maybe he has access to a similar site? If not, I'm sure he can contact HR and have them print or email him whichever pay stubs he requests! I know my fiance also has direct deposit and he doesn't know how to access his pay stubs either, so maybe the online portals are just a Canadian thing. He is going to contact HR and see if they can send them!

Hey! Our case was sent to the embassy at the end of June and finally changed to "ready" on July 10th I believe, so I completed my DS-160 that night and sent in packet 3 on July 12th. I received the standard response saying that they were not ready for it yet, so I resent it this Monday, July 22nd and on the following day I received packet 4 via email! I think two weeks after it changes to "ready" you can send packet 3 without first receiving their request and it should be okay, although I have seen people send it a few days after the ready status and get packet 4 back, too. I think it's worth a try, as you may never actually get packet 3 if you keep waiting.
