Did you hear if your file made it there?

I apologize to everyone for not updating this thread sooner.

Thanks to @Mike E I contacted NARA/FRC as he suggested and within hours I had them calling me back with an answer. They went so far they called my immigration officer to see what the issue was as my file's tracking number said delivered. Absolutely amazing people!!

Before the end of the day, the IO called me and asked me to come back the next morning. I got naturalized in his office - no special ceremony and made my flight back the same day.

You need to decide how long you want to wait and how long is reasonable to wait.

There is no law that says you can’t communicate with FRC.

thank you!! I did call them and they told me they will look into it and will let me know. Hopefully, they will soon. Do you, by any chance, if there is a way (phone number) to reach USCIS field office without calling the generic number?

Your file is likely still with NARA / FRC.

Contact each director in https://www.archives.gov/frc/directors and ask if they could send your file to USCIS (identify the officer and field office where to send it)

You think it's OK to call them even if I was told the file is supposedly in transit? The office told me it was supposed to arrive yesterday as it was mailed out on Thursday....but then again...he might not even know himself?

  4. I had my naturalization interview today. When I walked in to check-in, the front desk lady couldn't find my name on the list. I was asked to sit down anyways and I got a bit worried. 10 minutes later, an officer called my name and as soon as we walked into his office he told me they have not received my file. We went ahead with the interview, I passed the test, questions were asked, he spoke with his supervisor and still no file.

Has this ever happened to anyone?

I wouldn't be as worried if I didnt fly for the interview from Germany (military husband), wasn't pregnant and didn't have to fly back home tomorrow.

I was told they will give me a call when/if the file shows up but until then, they cannot approve me. Now I am sitting in my hotel stressing over what to do - change my flight? fly back home?

    This really sucks!!

  5. Hey everyone! This is more of a "what would you do if you were me" question as I need some advice to come up with a plan.
I applied for naturalization under 319(b), did my biometrics, and made a huge mistake of not calling the military helpline to help me speed up the process. I keep beating myself up for it but what's done is done and I already moved to Germany on military orders. I changed my address - had to put APO as it would not accept an address outside the US.
I am aware I will have to fly to the US for my interview/oath and that's when I am a bit lost on what to do.
    1. Can I change the processing field office and if so, how would I do that?
    2. Which field office would allow me to do the interview and oath on the same day or at least the oath the next day? I heard that Washington D.C. is pretty good about it.
    3. Is there any way to change my phone number on the submitted application? I had my US number on there but we just switched to a German provider.
    4. Should I still request to expedite the process? I am pregnant, have a little one already, have a job and I am worried that they would schedule it for a month I would be too pregnant to fly.
    5. I am also playing with the idea of withdrawing this application and submitting a new one from overseas. Would this be smart at all?
Thank you to whoever responds! I will appreciate any input!
  6. I am a GC holder and my husband is in the US army. We are PCSing to Germany in 12/2021.

My husband already received "soft" orders and now I am wondering how early is too early to file for naturalization under 319(b)? I would love to avoid paying more on fees if

it would be OK to file now. I know a few ladies who applied in July and are PCSing in March 2021.

Would anyone know what would happen to my paid money order if USCIS would say it is too early? Would they keep the payment or send it back to me?

  7. Hey guys,

so I spent several hours going through all these topics and I  found some valuable information. However, I would still

like to ask as I do not want to make any mistakes.

I arrived in the US in November 2019 on CR-1, my 10 year green card came in the mail in February 2020.

My husband re-enlisted couple weeks ago and we already know we will be going back to Europe - to Germany.

He wont have his hard orders until some time next year but he got an email with report date in December 2021.

    1. When should I apply for naturalization under 319(b)? Is it easier from the US or Germany?

    2. Will my travels affect the naturalization process in any way? I am asking because my husband is going on a 9 month long rotation in couple of months and I am planning on going to

my home country for some months + travel some outside the US. Still not sure whether I should apply for re-entry permit or not but just wondering if they would look at my travels as

am not being serious about living here.

    Thanks!

  8. I arrived in the US in November 2019 on CR-1 after DCF in Frankfurt, Germany. I am now awaiting my green card in the mail. Since my husband is military and will be gone for some months, I would like to travel back home for that time. Am I allowed to travel internationally without green card in hand and with just a stamp in my passport?

The officer gave you bad information.

Since you arrived before your 2nd wedding anniversary, you will get a conditional green card.

If you had delayed your immigration by 2 weeks and arrived after 11/24/2019, you would have qualified for a regular 10 years green card and avoided the cost and hassle of filing the I-751.

OH I get it now. Thank you for breaking it down for me

  10. Hi everyone, I really hope someone might have an answer for me.

I just arrived in the US on Cr1 last night and was told green card will be sent to our address. The officer also said I need to call USCIS3 and tell them to remove the condition but he didn't answer to my question. I arrived on the 12th of November and got married on November 24 2017.so basically almost 2 years ago. Will my green card arrive with conditions or do I need to file for removal like right now?

I'm sorry I can't help, but I was hoping you could answer one of my questions. We're military in Italy, filling out the I-130 petition, and I'm confused about Part 4: beneficiary's address. Obviously I put my physical address as here in Italy for #11 but we have the same problem of not knowing where we will be in the states so I don't know what to put for #12 of where we will be living! If I put 'same' to say the same as #11 then will they complain because it's not a US address??

HI, for that address I put the military base address we are going to. If you don't have orders yet and still don't know where yall going to be stationed next, put his parents address. This address can be changed once you arrive at port of entry and then again online once you are in the states. Some people put address unknown or to be determined. You have a chance to explain this at your interview. They are used to this as they understand it is normal for military families not knowing their next address

You can give the address of a trusted relative

Thanks! I already sorted it out :)

  12. I had my immigrant CR1 visa interview yesterday at consulate in Frankfurt, Germany (DCF) and was approved. My husband is in the military and ordered to leave Germany in November. I told them that we still have no address in the US and was advised I will have to give it to agents at port of entry. The problem is, we are not allowed to look for a house until we arrive to our new duty station. I spoke with the housing office and there is no way around it so at this point I don't know what address I should give them. Has anyone gone through this and could pitch in on what to do?

  13. I apologize upfront if this topic has been discussed before but I searched for over an hour and didnt find what I was looking for.

I am in the process of CR-1 visa through Frankfurt, Germany (I am posting in this section as I believe I might get more input than if posted in DCF) and yesterday I received an email inviting

me to schedule an interview. For the interview I am supposed to bring originals of my court records.

Over 12 years ago I studied in the US and got a misdemeanor charge. And because of this, I hired a lawyer just in case to help with my immigration process. This lawyer obtained my court records as I was only given one paper back then. I emailed my lawyer about the request for original documents but have not heard back yet. I keep looking at the provided documents and it seems like it is one documents that consists of 4 pages but only the first page has a stamp on it.

What I am trying to ask is, can I obtain US court records from overseas? Would online records be considered originals?

Good advice. As Jorgedig said, some of the advice is rather blunt but it's generally well meant. To be honest, I think most of the experienced participants in this forum learned something by this thread. Most of the offices in the US and abroad ask for copies of documents in the application and request to see originals at the interview. It's now firmly established that Frankfurt does things differently. Good to know.

Hopefully, this thread might help someone else filing through Frankfurt. It can be very confusing because lots of people on here experienced completely different process. I do, however, agree with previous responses....it is VERY important to have duplicates or notarized copies of important documents. When I mailed out all the originals, a day later I realized how many problems it can cause me. I am super pregnant and will need my birth and marriage certificate in order to obtain my child's birth certificate AND CRBA. So now, instead of just patiently waiting for my interview, I am under stress and trying to obtain duplicates.

    Hi everyone,

I-130 was approved by Rome. My husband filed the petition directly to the Italian consulate since he is stationed here in Italy (I am an Italian national). I need to fill out form DS 260 online, which, I am assuming, is a generic one for several types of visas. I am applying for a CR1 filed directly to the consulate.

The form asks to specify a permanent address in the United States where I will be staying at and my green card is going to be sent to. My husband, who's in the USAF, will PCS in January 2020, but we do not know our next station yet. We will be notified of our next destination in August; however, we will not have a permanent specific address until we physically move there. What kind of address should I put? Since we do not know where we are going, we are not able to determine if we have any friends in the area they could receive the green card for me.

Also, it appears that the information is compulsory. I cannot switch to other sections of the form without the address.  I managed to skip that by putting a random city and zip code and typing 'unknown' on the first address line. I am scared that is going to create issues if my green card is granted.

Thank you in advance for any possible help.

Our lawyer advised us to put the address of my husband's new duty station. This can be easily explained during the interview and changed once we enter the US

    Hello everybody.

so, we are getting a marriage visa for me..we have already submitted the I-130.. did the online questions.. submitted everything all the way to the step with the tax returns (I-864 was before that) and the proof of residence. Can someone tell me whats next? I‘m sure it‘s not the interview haha. I just want to be prepared 🤪

Seems like what you did online was DS-260 and then sent all the required documents from received checklist, right? Uscis in gernany requires original documents as well as copies. Also seems like we both are at the same step and just waiting for interview letter. When did you send your documents? Have you done your medical? I heard the letter should come fast but then again some are saying they are now overloaded.... Once we get the letter, we schedule our own appointment and that's basically it. Fees are paid at the interview. BTW don't get frustrated with people on here :)
