Go to office max and buy the picture place holders for the 4x6 size. Similar to what you put pictures into an album, they are transparent. Just write on the back with all the info and since the pic holder is transparent, no need to glue anything or make photo copies. Thats how we did it. Super simple!!! Keep it simple!

You got approved doing that? I thought they didnt like having to take things out of transparent sleeves and to avoid that?

Your choice ... The bottom line is to make it as easy as possible for the officer to see them .. too much or too hard and they will not even look at them .. glossy high quality printing isn’t necessary .. but ease of access is ..

So gluing them to a paper and typing the caption underneath is probably the best choice then

I'm not going to scan them when I just got them printed at Walgreens. If I wanted to do that I would have just printed them off my computer.

  5. I have been debating this topic back and forth. I just got 4x6 pictures printed from Walgreens. My question is do you think it's easier for them to be glued to a piece of paper with the description underneath or just label the back and put them in a ziploc bag? I just feel like the ziploc bag could easily be detached or lost from the packet. Do they scan the pictures as well or just look at them? If they scan them I feel like gluing them on paper would make it easier. Any suggestions?

    Hi everyone!

Ive been receiving MULTIPLE emails about the process I took and how come my own case seems to be going fast and first and fore most I’d like to inform everyone I did a lot of research, was very proactive and was consistent with emailing/calling NVC. So I’ve made notes on the steps and procedures I personally took after receiving my NOA2 and I will post them here for anyone interested. This is for the K1 VISA ONLY. Not the K3 spousal visa

Please be advised I am not asking anyone to follow my steps, step by step. I am just merely offering information on how I did ours.

    Thanks and Goodluck!

this link will provide information about the steps NVC takes once your case is approved by USCIS.

    ‭2. (603) 334-0888‬
This is the number for NVC you’ll call to obtain the case and invoice id numbers. You’ll need your USCIS case number, the full name of both the applicant and beneficiary and both birthdays in order to receive any information from them. So have that in handy. Some nvc officers will also ask for email address. If you don’t have one on file with them you can update it at this time. You can also request to add an email address to your case. They have an email address you can email to obtain information but their response time to the emails is terrible. You’d have to wait weeks, even months.

Note: if you call them and it’s been 2 weeks or more since your case has been approved with USCIS and they’re still telling you they have not received your case, hang up. Call back again then tell the next person you need to expedite your case due to severe financial loss and you were told you needed your case id number to do so. It’ll be better if the petitioner calls NVC for this information. Remember to get both the case and invoice ID number

        0.   https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx           once you obtain a case number from NVC, this is the link you’ll use to check the status of your case at NVC. It’ll say “At NVC” if NVC is still working on your case. “In Transit” if it is on its way to the consulate. “Ready” once the consulate has received it and this is the time they’d prefer for you to set up your interview. Though they’ll be a slight delay waiting for them. As long as your status changes to ready before your interview date you should be fine.
        0.   https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/Default.aspx This is the link you’ll use to fill out the DS-160. You can either fill this out prior to paying the $265 visa fee at GTBank or after. I’d suggest after so you can set up interview immediately after filing the DS-160.
        0.   http://www.ustraveldocs.com/   This is the link you’ll use to set up interview. Have this in handy with you when setting up the interview: The confirmation number/visa application number from the DS-160 confirmation page. Your receipt number from the GTBank for the visa fee you paid, the case ID number and the USCIS case number.
        0.   https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/nonimmigrant-visa-for-a-fiance-k-1.html#1 This link provides a guide on the steps and procedures for the K1 visa. It’ll give you information on the documentation you need to have ready, an overview or much more.
        0.   https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/LGS-Lagos.pdf this link will provide you with the steps to take for medical exam. It’ll also have the pre-interview checklist and list of approved physicians. Please call them or rather go see them to make inquiries because the information the consulate gives online is inaccurate to what actually happens. Their hours of operation for medical exam is not what it says online. They are not open from 8am-5pm. They’re only open from 8am-10am. Make inquiries first! Call, go there! Don’t assume.
        0.    Here’s the information on how to obtain the police certificate : Applicants need to contact the Deputy Inspector General, Criminal Investigation Department, Nigeria Police Force, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria.  The applicant should bring information regarding their full name, place and date of birth, nationality, passport number, date and place of issuance (for current passport or passport used during applicant's stay in Nigeria), exact periods of residence in Nigeria and addresses where applicant resided.
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Nigeria.html  This is link I got the information from.
        0.    You’ll need your original birth certificate and a photo copy for the interview. Also I’d advise getting the declaration of age and having that handy. My uncle said you’ll need that once you migrate here. You can obtain your birth certificate from the local government/hospital you were born in. Make sure the name on the application filed with uscis matches the name on the birth certificate. I don’t know anything about name changes so you might have to make inquiries on your own about name changes. You can obtain the declaration of age at the National Population Commission. Here’s their link with their contact info, location e.t.c http://population.gov.ng/contact-us/
        0.    For anything that you do throughout this process, I’d suggest having your international passport with you when you go make inquiries or go to these appointments. Get new passport photos. Remember they are only valid if you’ve gotten them done within 6 months and has not passed the 6 months gap. Also, make photocopies and also have the originals of every single document you are taking with you to your interview. People often get confused so let me elaborate on this, the DS-260 is for people filing spousal K3 visa. Their process is different. The K1 visa applicants fill out the DS-160. On the affidavit of support. The I-864 is for k3 visas/family based visas. The I-134 is for K1 visas, b1/b2 visas etc.

I hope this information helps! Good luck on your process and I wish you all the best.

When do you schedule the medical exam? Immediately after you schedule an interview? When is it advised to have your medical exam done, as you have to wait for results? (Do not want to go too soon or too late) If your case states ready do you have to wait for instructions from Lagos to start the process or can you start right away? Heard differing things. Thanks.

You can put it or not put it, it doesn’t matter. You do not need proof of legal name change to put another name there. I put my “American name” there. For example, my real name could be Xi Jinping but I go by “David”, that’s how my co-workers know me because no one can say my real name, so I put “David” there.

P.S: Xi Jinping of course is not my real name, it’s the Chinese President’s

Okay. I was confused because it says any name changes needs proof under the instructions so I wasnt sure if that just refers to Last names...?

  8. I have a question regarding the "Other names used" section. My fiance is from Nigeria and has two middles names (one is an African middle name the other is his middle name he uses on all current legal documents). They are not used together. He used to use his African middle name on some legal documents a long time ago as they are used interchangeably. If I put his African middle name in the "Other Names Used" will that require proof of a legal name change or is that only for last names? (I see that as a requirement under the I129F instructions) His original age declaration has his African middle name but his new affadavit of age declaration has his current legal middle name that is on his passport and everything else. He has no evidence of a legal name change, as they are used interchangeably there. Can anyone help?

All evidence submitted to the uscis are legible photocopies of original or certified copies unless an original or certified copy is SPECIFICALLY  requested.

Copy it and keep the certified copy and the originals in your possession.   Never let original or certified copies of any civil document out of your control

I'm sending the certified copy. It's not going to hurt anything. I have the originals and I can always go get more certified copies if need be.

Did you have a declaration of age by the higher court w/ an affadavit from a relative as well before getting the attestation letter? Did you go straight to the NPC to get them?

His father is deceased and there is no way for him to contact his mother. I have read that peoples attestation letters were deemed insufficient and they needed more proof than just that?

  12. Hello All. Hopefully someone can give me credible information so we do not get denied at the interview stage. My fiance lives in Lagos, Nigeria and DOES NOT have a birth certificate. He was born in 88 so he cannot get a birth certificate. We have heard about the declaration of age and attestation letter however his birth father is deceased and his birth mother abandoned him at a young age-so he cannot get a declaration of age sworn by his mother only himself. I have been reading that even people with attestation letters from the NPC have been deemed insufficient. What will the Lagos embassy accept for proof of his birth? I would hate to get through this whole process and then be denied for insufficient birth records. Someone please help?!

Don’t try and guess what information they are looking for or why they are asking it. Remember that you are dealing with the government here and if they want to know if you’ve ever been arrested they don’t even need to ask you, they can just look through law enforcement databases. The question asks about arrests, not just convictions. Answer every question exactly as it is written. I often think such questions are placed in the forms to test the petitioner’s honesty,

I am confused by your comment? I am not asking if I should disclose the charges. I am asking about the 3a-3c where it says "if you  have provided information about a conviction listed.....select any that apply" I was not convicted of it so do I leave this section blank? I will still provide the court records and police report for it where it states that it was dismissed. I was just confused on the select any that apply

  14. I am filing a K1 Visa for my fiance in Nigeria. My question is that I have 2 OWIS from 5 years ago and 1 disorderly conduct (however I had a domestic violence battery charge tied with this charge that was DROPPED) I am confused if I check any of these? They do not apply to me as I was not convicted of the domestic violence charge and the disorderly was lowered to a noise citation. Please help! I do not want to get an RFE. I will be supplying both court records and police reports for the 3 incidences.

  15. Good afternoon. I am filing a petition for a K1 visa for my fiance in Nigeria. I am curious to know if they will ever mail anything to him? He lives in Lagos and the mail delivery system there is not reliable. I heard in Nigeria they email the packet 3 but I am curious if they will ever physically mail him anything? Or will everything be mailed to me? Do they issue the visa on site and you can pick it up or do they mail the passport with the visa? Thanks.
