Can you please share what kind of questions did she ask?

Did she ask anything related to Covid 19? Like for example, how did you spend your time during quarantine? How is the whole situation affects your job or something like that?

    Just curious 😉

No, nothing really about COVID. Just some simple questions about me and my husband, like how did you meet, when was the last time you came to the US, what's his favourite dish, what does he do annoys you and vice versa. etc

  2. Hi everyone,

Me and my husband have just come back from our AOS interview. The officer didn't say if we are approved right after the interview, she just said we will receive the decision notice through mail.

    My questions are:

    1. Is this normal? I thought we will know the result right the way.

    2. Is she supposed to give us any document or receipt after the interview? such as saying we have completed the interview on xx/xx/xxxx?

Can anyone share your post-AOS interview experience?

    Thank you so much!

    Nora

  3. Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone has received a rescheduled date for AOS interview.

My original interview was on April 2nd, but got cancelled due to COVID. They sent us a letter saying they will reschedule the interview and will send another notice through mail.

Anyone is in the similar situation? And have you received a new date for the interview yet?

I know the offices are reopened on June 4th already. I'm just wondering what is taking so long...

    Thank you!

Hi i was wondering how long it look from when you submitted package 3 to package 4. The package 3 was delivered on December 20, 2019 for me and I still have not received the package 4 (1/16/20). Does it usually take that long at the HK embassy?

You will have to send back 3 documents, and then they will send you package 4.

I believe he documents were receipt of payment, a checklist saying you're ready (like done police check, and have all documents ready) and 1 more I forgot.. (refer back to the instruction on package 3)

send those back to the consulate, then they will send you package 4 and an interview date

You can get health insurance with no SSN. I know I am right so please just calm down. When are y'all going to file for AOS

We have filed in AOS and got NOA1 on 11/18.

So I don't really need a SSN right now? coz I am not allowed to work for now anyway yea?

Yeah you tried it with the married name first thus the mismatch. Then when you tried it again with maiden name there was not enough time left on the 90 day authorized stay

I hope you're right.. that letter worries me.

So now I don't have the SSN, does that mean my husband cannot put me in his health insurance?

No, are you the husband or the wife? If you are the wife then this doesn't surprise me because you came in on your maiden name and now you are trying to get a SSN with your married name. Thus the mismatch in the system which is pretty common

I'm the wife, but I applied it with my maiden name because we tried with married name before and that officer said he couldn't because the name does not match with that on I-94.

I tried to contact USCIS to clarify my immigration status, but couldn't reach anyone...

So this is what went down. After researching here first, I waited over 2 weeks after entry and a week after my wedding to get an SSN. Brought my passport, i94, k1 visa and marriage certificate. Lady at SSA found my maiden name in the data base but for some reason couldn't issue an SSN using my married name. She started talking about having to send info to DHS so I said to just issue an SSN in my maiden name because I figured for people choosing to use their maiden last name, it could be done right? I said I'd just change name later. But she didn't want to do it. She went to ask someone and then came back and then gave me the receipt that said, "...we must verify the document(s) you gave us to show your Alien status with the federal, .... this may take up to 4 weeks..". So I guess I've been manually verified? But they found my maiden name in their database. I'm so confused. And also angry at myself for not asking for a supervisor. Anyone have any thoughts?

So did you get your SSN issued?

I was given that letter too, 3 weeks later they sent me another letter saying the Homeland Security cannot verify my immigration status.

    What does that even mean?

  9. I am holding a K1 visa, got married about 2 months ago, applied my SSN about 3 weeks ago. However, I have received a letter saying the SSA cannot issue a SSN to me because

"The DHS is unable to verify the immigrant document you submitted as evidence of your lawful alien status"

What does that even mean? The documents I submitted were K1 visa and valid I-94.

Can anyone please give me some advise what I should do now?

  10. Received K1 packet 3, and paid for the visa fee. But no available date for interview yet.

Should I start making appointment for medical check yet?

I read on the instruction that medical check is not recommended to be done more than 4 weeks prior the interview.

Any idea when will there be available dates for interview? Do they do limited K1 interview every month?

I saw on the instruction that I don't need to send anything to the consulate, but I saw many posts about people sending documents to NVC. So do I need to send anything to the NVC?

    Thanks~~

  11. Hi all,

I am from Hong Kong and our K1 visa case has arrived at the Embassy today.

I'm wondering how long would it take for the embassy to send out packet 3? What is your experience?

Anything I should prepare during this period before receiving packet 3?

Spend some time at the HK US Embassy website and read up on what the requirements are and what is next. Here is the link: https://hk.usconsulate.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee/the-interview/ and

Spend sometime in the sub forums for China/HK found here. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/94-china/  There are many experts that can help you along. Most here in this forum are trying to get their arms around their own process and have very little knowledge for HK.

Thank you very much! You are really helpful!
