    since you say the K1 had been approved (decision) and you sent a letter to cancel the visa as relationship ended and the bene decided to stay in Japan,  then yes, normal for USCIS to inform you that activity had taken action (i would suspect to cancel the approved visa)

    Hello! My ex-fiance and I's i129f was recently approved (i-797 NOA letter), but sadly she decided to end the relationship and stay in Japan. Anyways, I was wondering, as the petitioner, should I contact someone or is there something else I should do to officially end the visa process, or will it just expire due to not taking any further action? Thanks!

    Agreed - send the letter to withdraw and end it formally. It's just cleaner for everybody. Details are not needed...just that you want to withdraw the petition.
