Seeing your timeline, it's 10 months already from your PD...Don't get discourage yet, "on hold" in my opinion looks like some IO in charge in your application pull up your file and is processing it for interview.   Wait for a few weeks, maybe you'll receive an interview letter and I do hope so.    The reason I've said that because several people here and in other sites are receiving interview letter 10-months from their PD...

Wow, you've got plan already..  What is that option that I've read here about contacting the USCIS Ombudsman? --- Is this the time when it's one year lapse already and you can file a complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman?

Depression is gradually killing my emotions and outlook in life... I feel like, I'm a failure in every aspect always struggling...

Maybe we need to hire a psychic to do some magical tricks to fast-track our applications... LOL

Those fellow applicants who are still waiting: do not take this online updates too seriously. Sometimes it does not accurately reflect the status of your case. For example, a few Denver applicants, myself included, received the interview letters in the mail without online, email, sms updates. I am already a citizen and again, there are no electronic notifications or updates......So, maybe, just maybe, you will get your big news on the mailbox like I did, not through your email or smartphone.

Congrats KleoLove, mine was a very similar experience

We drove and parked in the West hall parking ($20 ouch! but win on keeping my toddler sane vs the metro). Hubby and son went in the guest entrance and I went through the applicants one. Security was quick and I was directed to go to the shortest line for checking in. They commented on why I still had my 2yr GC (no ROC interview so I never had the chance to hand it in). Answered the questions and assigned a table to pick my certificate up after the ceremony.

The left side of the hall was full with applicants so I got seated in the middle section, about 8-10 rows from the front. Ceremony started and the judge greeted us, an officer asked for the motion to grant all 3420 applicants citizenship. The judge granted the motion and welcomed us as America's newest citizens, he then told us of his background (first Haitian district judge in the US, his parents immigration journey and how he views the process in a humble manner). They had a lady talk more on what it is to be a citizen and our fundamental rights and civic duties. Recignized active military members, announced the top three counties out of 106 different nationals in the room being sworn in, and played a video of the current president and a music video. The judge said a few more things then dismissed us. The actual ceremony was about 45 mins long and then another 45 mins to get to my row to be dismissed and collect our certificates. They had us fill out and submit our voter registration cards whilst we were waiting to be dismissed, they had countless tables and booths set up to help you with that if you needed assistance with that too. Outside was a passport application booth/tent and a commemorative photo line too. They also noted to not post photos of your naturalization certificates on social media, to go and update your legal status with social security after about 10 days too.

Very heartbreaking wait for me as well, 9-month from PD no interview letter.  The most depressive part that I noticed when I examined the 10 numbers/cases in my batch, the IO stopped on the 5th number on the online update last week Oct. 20. Mine is on the 7th.  8th to the 10th are done already (oath ) few months ago.... Urggggggghhhhh

Went to my Oath Ceremony this morning - what a beautiful ceremony. At was at the Federal Courthouse so it was a judge presiding - he was very gracious in his comments and it was all so moving! We were in there a couple of hours from the appointment time, at the end of which we were awarded our certificates like a graduation! Fantastic experience - we were all given our first American flags and a letter each from the offices of our 2 senators and our congressman.

Like everyone else who's got this far, I'm happy to be done with it; I'm happy to be a USC and feel like USCIS and I just got a divorce!

I received an email today from USCIS for my case inquiry on May 16, to which my priority date is Jan. 25.   USCIS responded in email today stating that my case has been delayed due to the background check that still pending and they cannot move forward until BC is done (which is from the FBI).  Furthermore, stated I have to wait within 6 months from the date of today's email before making another inquiry.  Ughhhh...Some people are luckier than others because their BC is done few weeks after their FP, while others are taking longer. What a life (sigh)

Postponing your marriage makes a lot of sense per documentation purposes avoiding the hassles. But on the other hand, kind of sad to think, sorry to hear your postponement.

It still will be 30-45 days from date your interview is scheduled to date of interview however you wont wait long time inline, as you can see many members still waiting inline so hopefully if bc gets cleared asap you still will be like many others

Thank you for the moral support. I know it's kind of depressing   because I have plans and part of it is applying for some federal jobs which required citizenship but some of these plans are on hold due to this rigorous BC.

No.  I just inquired about the progress of my case when I called them on May 16.  And like their email response today, the L2 customer rep few weeks ago told me based on the USCIS online file he accessed, USCIS cannot move forward because the FBI has not submitted yet the result of the BC (that's what NBC is waiting) that's why my file still stuck on NBC for such wait and not on field office for interview schedule. I asked the L2 customer rep if he's sure on that & told me yes the delay is due to the FBI has no submission yet back to NBC of the BC result & further told me to be patient because this is one of the applications that has a long processing wait  which normally takes on average 8-12 months & it's on a first-come first serve basis and there are still on BC who are ahead of me. That's what he told me a few weeks ago, which was also what the IO email response today to which I guess IO has research my case of what cause the delay.  Well, in my opinion it is still on the normal processing time based on Cleveland office, once it will lapse on their posted timeline in Cleveland that I will consider delay which I would need to make an online inquiry submission. At the moment Cleveland is processing cases as of Nov. 10, 2016.

after the background checks it is all about your local office and my office happens to be a slower-than-average one. But I think there is a good side on my case moving slower because I have a misdemeanor (fine less than 200) on my record from 2012. It will be exactly 5 years since I was cited (not arrested or anything). I am hoping it will make my plea more convincing, because it will be 5 years since then and everything have been fine since then, with no repeated or similar mistakes.
