They are correct that you can change only the surname based on the marriage. Any other names, you have to go thru court. Court will allow your name change unless your current name is linked to criminal activities that you are trying to run away from. So just go for the name change in the court, once you are approved, apply for the green card replacement with the new name.

Calm down, bring everything bonafide.
I-797 of EAD approval can be discarded now, no need to worry about it. The actual card will be sent soon.

As long as you married within 90 days upon arrival in the states, you will be fine. Just start getting ready to file your Aos.
