  1. Hi, anyone else having issues submitting their N400 online?

I've been trying to submit the N400 naturalization form. I have entered all the info and everything is correct. But when I try to submit everything and it tries to connect to the pay.gov payment website for the payment, I keep getting this error: "We are having trouble sending you to Pay.gov". I have been trying now for 2 days to submit this, but it is not working.  I tried different computers and different browsers, so it's not me. I also tried signing in on the pay.gov website directly, but there is no option there to pay for the N400 form

    Please advise, thank you

I also send uscis a message but maybe someone here knows what to do. I can also do everyting on paper, but what's the point if there should be an option to do everything online while it's not working

  2. Hi,

I married my American wife in 2016, after the whole cr1 process was completed I came here on 01/16/2020 and I’m a resident with a permanent greencard.

However, I would like to apply for citizenship. But my question is, do I have to wait till 01/16/2023 when it’s been exactly 3 years that I would be living in the usa. Or can I start the whole process a few months earlier? How long are the processing times right for the N400?
    Thank you

  3. I’m from Europe and I’m a permanent Greencard holder. I’ve been living in the usa for over 2 years with my American wife. I would like to start the citizenship process next year.

My question is, do you need to show prove of stable employment/ a stable job in the usa when applying for citizenship? I’ve been working in IT for over 20 years. I have a good stable IT job here in the usa as well since I moved here, for over 2 years.

However, I started my own company over a year ago and it’s doing pretty good (not IT related, it’s a staffing business). I want to quit my IT job to focus on my business and I want to expand it. But my friends here are saying it’s better to keep my IT job to show the uscis that I have a stable w2 job.

But I feel like it’s now or never to focus on my own business because I can’t do it on the side anymore, it’s too exausting and it’s hurting my business if I can’t focus on it.

What should I do? Will it hurt the citizen ship process if I quit my job to focus on my business.

  4. Well, I’m also from the Netherlands lol, what a coincidence. And they included my work history from there as well. They did a hard inquiry on my credit, and then afterwards told me that they really need two w2’s from within the usa. They should have told me that prior of running my credit, causing it to go down a little. That’s why I want to be sure with the next lender. They made it sound like that every lender is requiring two w2’s. I will make some more phone calls. Thanks

  5. Hello,

I moved here over a year ago (USA, AZ). I have a good income and creditscore. However, I tried to get pre approved by a lender to buy a home, but since I only have 1 ww2 for now, they said they don't want to go forward. The lender said they need 2 w2's. Is this true? I'm very dissapointed. Is there another way or do I really have to wait another year? Home prices are sky rocketing so I don't want to wait too much longer. My wife currently doesn't have a job, so I'm the main bread winner and really want to buy a home (not cash, and not 20% down).

    Thanks for you help

  6. This has probably been asked before but can’t really find an answer online.

I’m a permanent resident, moved here in January 2020. I’ve been working all year and paid taxes, Luckily still have my job. However, my american wife lost her job because of covid so we can definitely both use the stimulus check. She received both checkes. I didn’t, because I didn’t file taxes in 2019 cause I wasn’t in the usa yet in 2019. Is there still a way to receive it?

Ay-yi-yi, USCIS can be so annoying. I'm not sure why it takes so long to send out the green card, which is their responsibility. In any case, I was going to suggest emailing the ombudsman but I see you've already done that. The ombudsman does take a while though...whenever they get back to you and if nothing has happened, I suggest reaching out to your senator. They should have a section in their website called "Help With a Federal Agency". The form will be similar to that of the ombudsman.

I know right, I don't know if it's because of the pandemic but everything seems to go wrong and it's taking 10 times longer than usual.

Thanks for the great tips, I'll take a look at that website. You rock

  8. In short: I married my wife in 2016. We filed in july 2018. My teenage daughter from another relationship (I have sole custody of her) and I were approved in september 2019. We arrived in the usa in january 2020, 10 months later she still doesn't have her Greencard! I received mine in july, like 6 months after entry.

Contacted the uscis multiple times and somehow they can't send my daughters greencard out. Everytime I call them they give another reason why they can't. So I filed an i90 3 months ago, yet nothing is happening. The last time I called them (2 months ago) they said the reason they couldn't send it out was because they need new biometrics of my daughter, and that I had to wait till they contacted me for an appointment, still haven't heard from. We got all that stuff (biometrics) done in Amsterdam in september 2019 right after our interview was approved.

My daughters i551 stamp is going to expire soon. This is so frustrating. Anything else who went thru the same? What else can I do to speed up the process? It feels like they will never send it out, and don't understand why. I paid for our Greencards in oct 2019. At least she got her social security number.

  9. Everything is taking very long. Filed in july 2018. Got approved in september 2019. Arrived here in the USA January 2020. It's now august 2020, still no greencard. USCIS said on the phone that it somehow never was send out. Filed an i90 and everything months ago, still nothing happened. This is just rediculous because my temp i551 stamp is going to expire soon. My laywyer send me this article, seems like they're having problems printing and sending out greencards. It appears that many individuals are still waiting on their green card: https://immigrationimpact.com/2020/07/15/uscis-green-card-printing/?emci=3d1d3fdc-5ac8-ea11-9b05-00155d03bda0&emdi=bbaec08e-cbc9-ea11-9b05-00155d03bda0&ceid=4498131#.XxXTvpuSmUl

  10. I recently arrived in the usa (cr1, permanent resident). Back in September after I got approved right after my interview, they said at the consulate that everything would be electronic now since they’re going paperless. So no big brown envelope etc to bring to the port of entry/customs. I had a bad feeling about it. So after traveling for over 17hours I arrived here at customs and of course they had issues and couldn’t confirm stuff in their system. I was stressed as hell especially after they asked me at customs if I really didn’t get an envelope after my interview. So later they took me to a secondary room (people looked at me like I was a criminal or something) and I had to explain everything. After an hour of waiting in there, they finally solved everything and they said welcome to the United States. So just a warning for you guys, it’s not as smooth at the moment with this new paperless system. I hope everything goes well for you all

  11. Hello, excuse me if this is in the wrong forum but I have a few questions for the experts here since I can't really find the answers online.

I'm from the Netherlands, and I'm moving to my American wife in Arizona. Everything is approved (after 15 months finally). I paid the immigration /greencard fee like a month ago (like 30 days ago).

I still have to finish up some business here in the Netherlands, i'm getting rid of my house and i'm quitting my job by the end of December. My temp immigrant visa is valid until March but i'm planning to go before the end of December.

My question is, is my Greencard already on its way to my wife in the USA. Or will it only be send AFTER entering the USA/POE? I can't really find anything about this online. I know it can take up to 120 days though. And the same goes for my Social security number. Because I want everything to be ready as soon as I enter the usa. I want to work asap and open a bank account etc. I don't want to sit still for another few weeks/months after I arrive. Is it possible to already work with that temporary immigrant visa? And how about opening a bankaccount and getting a creditcard etc, is that even possible right now? Or do I have to wait till we receive my greencard and ssn etc?

And what do they exactly do and ask at the POE when you're entering with that temporary immigrant visa? I read some reviews here but it wasn't really detailed.

    Thanks for your time

  12. I had my interview today, and everything is approved thank God. The officer didn’t even ask for pictures of me and my wife (eventough I brought tons of pics and other paperwork). So everything went pretty easy. I was stressed out over nothing.
Now I can finally quit my job and cancel my rent, to be with my wife soon.

I wish all you guys the best of luck

Finally!! 5 weeks after receiving approval. So how long do I give them before i start harrassing them

Well I don’t want to upset you but it took me 6 months (!!!) after this same approval to finally receive an interview letter. It’s horrible. So I had this ‘Case was send to the department of state’ status since February. Maybe you’re more lucky than me though

Is the item in red noted above what you provided? If not, get that.

Otherwise, I would also suggest sending them a printout of that page showing that the document you provided is the correct one.

Yes, thank you so that's exactly what I got. Uittreksel uit de geboorteakte, Dienst van de burgerlijke stand.

And still they say it's not good enough because it doesn't have the date of registration, only the date of birth. But that's how they issue it here.

My lawyer says I should send them a DNA test that is AABB certified. So that will be another 400 euros almost and another delay of a few months probably. Thanks USCIS for doing such a shitty job

I don`t know how Netherlands birth certificate look like, I am from Russia and my birth certificate has info when my birth was registered.

For instance, it says that MrsCrabs "was born on Jan 1 1980 which was registered at Municipal Hall of Registration book on Jan 5 1980".

May be that`s what  they want?

Yes so that’s exactly what they want but that’s not possible on dutch birth certificates. Very weird.

And for the other people who asked; my wife is American and yeah my 13 yr old is not her daughter. I guess I will do the dna test to prove to the uscis she is really my daughter and I will send them the prove that I have full custody.

Thank you all for your replies and help tough

  16. So sorry for you man. Just like someone said before, maybe it’s too much pressure for you both at the moment. Give it time, or give eachother some space for a little while. If It really doesn’t work out, try to keep it civil. Your son needs you both in his life. Try to be coparents and try to live close to him eventough you miss your own country. It would be even worse if you’re in your own country far away from your son. Kids are everything, and are number 1 priority. I have 2 kids myself so I know. Peace

Im totally confused. I did not send any birth documents for my beneficiary or his child..that will be done at the interview...im sorry i dont have much to offer..but i suggest someone start calling uscis to get this verified..and you also cant have an rfe and an approval..its one or the other ...so maybe you need to bring that evidence to the interview is what they mean? 🤷🏾‍♀️ never heard of this response and their are plenty beneficiaries with children.

Well again this is litteraly what the USCIS has send us in their letter: “The birth certificate submitted on behalf of xxx was issued on june 2018. However, USCIS is unable to determine when the birth was registered. Therefore, your must submit additional info documentary evidence”

So my daughter and I are from the Netherlands. We are moving to my wife in the USA. My NOA2 has been approved, so I don't have the greencard yet. Somehow they have different case numbers for me and my 13 yr old daughter. So for my daughter they need a request for evidence within 3 months otherwise they might cancel the whole process.

They also gave me the option to do a DNA test to prove my daughter is my daughter.

I guess I will contact the USCIS or the American Embassy in the Netherlands. Seems like you guys are just confused as I am about this whole thing.
