  1. Hey all. I am about to send the needed info to my fiance and wanted to know if I got everything in order. I got the:

    Employer letter

    Notarized Affidavit of support

    Bank statements

    Birth certificate

K-1 package that was sent in beginning of journey

Proof of ongoing relationship such as Phone card transactions and stuff

As for the birth certificate, did any of you send the original or the copy, or does it make any difference? I know that the Lagos consulate is so different from the others. Can anyone update me on this. Thanks.

Is this about all I need?

  2. Oh hoo yes...I see. It's beginning to become clear. You really know your stuff. I have another question. Is the I864 poverty guideline table also the same as the I134 table. I really appreciate the info. Thanks so much.

Hello Fwaguy. I don't know what required documents are needed. I just know that the I129 packet is needed again along with the financial info and Affidavit stuff. I also assumed that the Birth certificate was needed again. I guess you never know. I am going to have my fiance scan me the information pronto. At one point I hear on a lot of posts that I do need to send, then at another I don't. Which? and if so original or copy?

I think you will discover that the I-129f packet is NOT needed but is simply a suggested "safety net" in the event of an unforseen problem.

  3. Second question, and I am trying to get this one straight, should I send in my original birth certificate instead of a copy?

Is the USC BC on the list of required documents received from the consulate? If so what does it say as it should indicate original or copy.

If it does not indicate a BC for the USC is required then why are you sending it?

  4. Thanks so much for the response and excellent info! :) I figure that my income doesn't reach the 125% poverty line so that's why I am sending asset information and bank statements. Shucks! I am hoping they will not ask my fiance all type of questions regarding the assets and stuff. I want to avoid the dreaded Administrative processing! I am just going to go over the financial info again and see if I overlooked some figures. I may just exceed or be at the 125% povertyline. Thanks again.

For K-1 you use I-134 affidavit of support.

You do not need to list or use assets if your income is at or above 125% povertyline.

The consulates tend to treat the I-134 like a mini-I-864 as so prefer the same financial evidence as the I-864.

In our case this what the I-134 included.

    • I-134 signed and notarized.

    • SIMPLE Tax transcripts from the IRS for past 3 years, (Redundant for the (1040,W2,1099) but are free from the IRS http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq1-6.html

    • Photo copy of IRS form 1040, and W2s for past 3 years (Not necessary if you provide the transcripts)

    • Letter from my employer stating annual salary, job responsibility, and that is full time, on company letterhead.

    • Photo copies of past month or so of pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.
My income was well above 125% povertyline so I did not include any asset data (LIKE BANK STATEMENTS).

Again Bank Statements are not needed if income meets or exceeds 125% povertyline.

The more data you give them like asset data the more they can ask questions about, as well as demand documentation to prove the values if the assets.

They do not need the US Citizen's birth cert that was provided to USCIS to prove that you are a US Citizen.

Some embassies and consulates allow you to send them the Affidavit of support directly to them for the interview if you are concerned about private info falling into the wrong hands, you need to attach a cover letter with NVC case number.

  5. Hi all. I am sure these questions have been asked before and I've tried to look through the abyssful sea of posts, but to no avail. Anyway...

Firstly, I was wondering that when I send in my bank statements, can I black out my account number? Just in case these papers get into the wrong hands I don't want them to try to hack into my account. Would it be a problem?

Second question, and I am trying to get this one straight, should I send in my original birth certificate instead of a copy?

Third question, would my automobile qualify for an asset for the affidavit? I am sending in a copy of the paperwork. Would that be suffice?

I guess it would be better safe now than sorry later ;) .

  6. Hi esjessi. Have your fiance try some ginger tea to help calm the nausea and vomiting. FYI: It also helps with morning sickness as well. It seems like his nerves are shot being in a foreign land, especially if the docs are not finding anything physically wrong with him.

Otherwise, it's good to hear from you and that everything is ok. Keep hope alive! Everything will be ooook! You're already showing the kind instincts of a concerned soon to be wife to her husband. That's the way it should be. :innocent: Congrats on your wedding as well.

By the way, I heard of that tragedy that happened over there in Madison today, about three people getting killed being struck by lightening while waiting on a bus stop? Wow, what are the odds, eh! We are getting deluged as well. It hasn't stopped raining since last week over here.

  7. That is great lady! I'm glad to know all is well. Yeah, get some rest because I'm sure you have a lot of sightseeing to do with him, especially with the weekend coming up or do you have some school papers to grade. Ha! who am I kidding! You probably too excited to even do that now that the love of your life is here. Concentrate now!:blush:

Yep, Walmart is the bomb. My guy will probably go gaga in that place. Ohhh the deals in that store.... :innocent: I was thinking about when he comes that we can watch the new Rowan Atkins(the guy that play in Mr. Bean) movie that is supposed to come out. We'll wait til it comes out on video though. He loves Rowan Atkins comedies and all those other british shows.

  8. Congrats on getting your interview date

    Thanks! :D

Congrats! I don't know if I would wait 3 weeks to get the letter. I scanned the copy of my approval and emailed to my fiance. He printed it out and took it to the Embassy and retrieved his packets. The reason why I say don't wait is because the medical will require 2 visits and it may be a month or a month and a half apart, which may put you past your Oct. 9 interview date.

 I was thinking the same thing. I think he will be going down there soon and pick up the packets.

    Thanks JJ.

We got an email for an interview date set for October 9th at 7a.m. I don't care how long away it is, just as long as it's scheduled. God is good all the time, wow! I mean, it is just so smooth! I just hope and pray the interview goes smooth too. I also hope the medicals go well. The email from the Embassy said that the packet was sent out and if not received within three weeks for him to go and pick it up. We will just play it by ear.

    Congratulations on your interview date

And I definitely agree about going to the embassy to get the packets because you want to get started on the Medical and the documents..

  9. Firstly, Elmira, good luck tomorrow, I'm sure you'll do great! Make sure to let us know the results as soon as you can!
