Congratulations you all as you guys are one step ahead, I just want to know as you all are at NVC stage how did you file your Tax returns, Single or Married file separately? and at this point what year of Tax return is accepted by NVC 2017 or 2018?

I filed my taxes as single. If you put married but filing separate, they ask questions about your spouse. I believed they ask for SSN too but I can’t remember. That or ITIN, which she has neither. Technically, they are not U.S. citizens or Green card holders yet so it won’t be a big deal for the IRS. Plus, in my case my wife has yet to receive any funds from a place of employment in the U.S. Not sure about yours. If they have, you will need them to get an ITIN if the job they worked for didn’t get them a SSN.

NVC will accept your recent tax returns. That includes 2017 if you haven’t done 2018 already. They only require your most recent tax transcript (which is a file from the IRS showing your last filed taxes) but I sent my 2018, 2017, 2016 W2’s and my 2017 - 16 Tax transcripts just to be safe. I also sent my last two pay stubs for good measure.

    Hope this helps.

What is goong to be the next step after NVC recived the case?

You have another wait ahead of you. It will take 6-8 weeks before NVC sends you an email giving you your case number and invoice number to access the CEAC website. After that, you start paying fees and uploading documents. Hang in there, the race is almost over. You can see the finish line now.

Hey everybody, I saw that some of you are contacting your service centers. Could anybody point me to how I can contact the Texas Service Center to see what the status is?

    Hey Omar,

It is impossible to contact your service center. USCIS call center is about as far as you can go. They will probably just tell you something like it’s “Processing” to get you off the phone. If you’re really alarmed, you can email your local senator to inquire about it but that would take some days before they hear back. I’m noticing everyone is experiencing delays. Could be a multitude of reasons why. Make an inquiry on the USCIS website and see what they say about your case. It’s better than nothing.

    Hope this helps

  4. Hey everyone,

Just a heads up on the process. You should start getting your documents and your love ones documents ready for when NVC contacts you to submit them. Some documents can be a pain. NVC wants the documents facing up. So if you do a scan of your documents, make sure they are facing up. Rotate them before submitting them if they’re upside down or sideways.

I recommed getting your tax transcripts but, you can also use your last three years of tax returns for financial verification. Start working on the DS-260 and the affidavit of support now. Some questions will trip you up and require some research. For example, my wife father left when she was young and she had to hunt around for some documents with his name on it in order to translate it to English.

I will continue to fill you in as I go along. Stay in good faith everyone and keep fighting!! Almost over.

Rell22 Thanks for replaying!  Yes the petition was sent to embassy in Peru. How do I access the case tracker? no interview date yet . We did the ds-160 online and has been submitted already. Thanks for the help.

No problem. You can check your status by clicking the link below. The embassy I believe will schedule your interview. I’m not sure how long the wait is for a non immigrant visa. So if the status seems off to you when you check it, you might want to see if you can call/email the embassy in Peru. I hope it helps. https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=WwjqOlbeRYzCYubaSQI+RA==

Hello guys it's been over month since the NVC has sent our petition to Lima,Peru and we haven't heard anything. Is there anything I can do? There's also an expiration date on the petition for March.  - Thank you

I’m assuming you mean to the embassy in Peru? On the Case tracker, what’s your status? Does it say “Ready”? Also, did NVC schedule you an interview?

  7. Hey everyone,

just recevied an email from NVC with my case number and instructions. Not sure if it was because of the expedite, Jantacza. But I appreciate you giving me information about it. Took exactly 7 weeks to get the email. I’m guessing a lot of you will be next now because you’re right behind. I will continue to fill everyone in on what I’m doing during the process. Happy days are coming.

    Hey guys!

So, I sent an expedite request on Tuesday and it got approvedl today! ANDDDD I received via email my case # from NVC! One day shy of a full 4 weeks since NVC received my case. Not sure if my expedite approval had anything to do with my getting my case number so soon but I am truly, very blessed!  They will be expediting my case to the embassy and I cannot be happier! My husband is on his way home to us <33

    Hey Jan,

Did you call them or email them to request it? Can you fill me in how? I’m a government worker who’s been furloughed, and I send money to help my wife. She didn’t renew her contract with her job around November because she would have to pay back every check she earned after breaking contract. I want to claim financial hardship now that the government is shutdown.

I'm sorry if I am adding fuel to the fire on this waiting game everyone, but my wife's petition was received by NVC on 11/21/18 and we have yet to receive a case number. By Jan 16th it would be a full 8 weeks. I wonder what excuse they are going to give me. I'm sure they will blame it on the shutdown :) I can't believe that it would take someone 8 full weeks to input a file into a computer system especially this day in age with the technology that we have. I've been calling every other day this week, and it feels hopeless. They told me it could take up to 8 weeks, and when I told them that they have 3 more business days. She changed it, and said it could take longer than 8 weeks!!! I just laughed cause it's so F...Ked up that there's no point in arguing. I'll wait till the Jan 16th and if I don't get a response then it's escalate plus call my congress woman... OH I forgot they might be shutdown!!!

To me, this is knowledge not fuel. Thank you for sharing. I’ve heard that NVC has been all over the place with their case processing time. I totally agree with you, it’s ridiculous that it takes that long. Background check, bona fide marriage checked, everything checked so why so long to issue the visa and interview? It’s ridiculous. But, we have to maintain hope because it’s out of our control. I asked them about the shutdown and they said that they were not affected because they are paid through fees. Not sure if this has changed in anyway. Good luck to you and keep us updated, please.

So I just called NVC and after waiting for 35 mins for a rep to answer, they told me they finally received our case on January 3rd. I'm glad because I thought there was a problem but I wish TSC would've sent it when the petition was approved instead of waiting 3 weeks to send it. We'd be closer to getting a case number if they did...oh well at least they got it. Now the waiting game begins again for a case number.... I hope it doesn't really take a whole 8 weeks to get one.

Yeah, that’s real strange. Did you contact UCIS to see why? I guess, it doesn’t really matter now but 3 weeks holding your case is excessive. Well, good thing is if there was a problem NVC wouldn’t have it. I will do my best to keep you informed once I receive my notification from NVC to get the process started.

  13. I’m truly sad to read some of the recent post on this forum. I know many of you are frustrated, and ready for this process to be over. Especially those that haven’t seen their love ones in months. I’m here for you, and will always keep everyone in my prayers. This same situation happened in November. They made a made dash in October, and had everyone thinking November would be the same. But then they were silent for awhile after the first two weeks of November. Then, they picked up again at the end of the month. It’s a really crazy pattern, that’s hard to predict. Hopefully, January will see them pick up again for the May Filers. Stay confident everyone, don’t lose hope.
