Hi everyone! I also just submitted my ROC paperwork with a divorce waiver from Dallas, Texas.

    GC expires 4/15

    Mailed via USPS on 4/10

Delivered and pick-up on 4/12 from:

    USCIS Attn: I-751

    P.O. Box 21200

    Phoenix, AZ 85036-1200

I haven't received any notifications, no email or text. Nothing has been charged yet, which is making me anxious tbh. 😅 Anything I can do on my end to check other than wait it out?

Weeee, I have an update and ya'll were so right!!! They charged my card on Friday, 4/14, and I have received my IOE case number. I should probably get everything in the mail by next week. So excited! 🙌 Now the waiting game is starting especially since I filed with a divorce waiver, I just hope it goes smoothly.

The only things you need to be aware of: you can lose LPR eventually if you spend too much time outside of the US.

Also, if you happen to commit a deportable offense in the future, you can be deported.

US citizenship protects you in both situations.

However, there's many examples of people living for the rest of their lives as LPRs. There was a thread about older lady who's been LPR for 50 years:

I will surely keep that in mind and thank you for sharing. That's a great thread to read into! 🙏

  3. Hi everyone! I just filed my ROC paperwork with a divorce waiver, which is fairly fresh and pending. To get ahead of things, I have a few questions which ya'll might be able to answer as I am still debating on becoming a US citizen. So, I was wondering if anyone here decided to choose the route of not applying for N-400 and just live in the US with their 10-year GC? Is this even an option? Would this be an issue? I am curious to hear more about it as I couldn't find a thread around this particular subject.

Side note: The main reason why I am still debating is, Austria doesn't allow dual-citizenship. So, to avoid of losing it or going through a separate process on that end, I'd appreciate more input on that, before making a final decision. Also, if I file for N-400, I'd file under the 5 year rule as I am now divorced and it wouldn't be based on my marriage.

    Thanks a lot!

Yaaaay~!  Hoffentlich bekommst du bald einen Termin für's GC Interview, hang in there. Ich habe meinen neuen Termin bekommen (1. Termin wurde wegen dem Schneesturm gecancelled) und meine GC Interview findet jetzt am 15. April statt! 🙌

I feel for you guys, if all the pandemic stuff wasnt enough to get your interview cancelled because of weather is a real kick in the teeth !

Ive had to go through a cancellation too, they firstly tend to send you a letter about how they cancelled your interview (even though its in the past) then theyll send you a new date for interview (received within a month)

Thank you for sharing! My status on the i-485 just updated back to "Ready to be scheduled", so I'm expecting some mail coming in. 😅

We got the same email today saying our interview was cancelled and they mailed us a notice.  We are praying that they will actually waive the interview but if not I'm sure they will reschedule it

Very glad to hear! I haven't read anything about it on the forum that anyone's interviews got cancelled/rescheduled when the snow storm hit since the field offices were all close so I was trying to wait patiently. Happy to see that they are slowly catching up though. Let's hope we'll get reschedule! I don't mind going in for an interview at all, just wanna get over it tbh. 😅

We had our AOS interview for 18 Feb.  We live in the Dallas area where that big snow storm hit.  We arrived only to find out that the offices were closed due to the hazardous weather.  There were about 25 other cars that were waiting in the parking lot as well.  Now we are just waiting for our interview date to be rescheduled.

We're sitting in the same boat! I received an email from USCIS today (now a week after the snow storm) that the interview got cancelled and they have mailed me a notice in regards to it. Now I'm waiting to see if that's the notice which shows the new date or not... Our AOS interview was suppose to be on Feb 16 in the Dallas area.

    Have you received anything yet?

My wife has had her combo card since May of last year 2020. Our interview has been ready to schedule since May.

Due to this pandemic, we have not traveled outside of the states while waiting for I-485 interview.

I believe the card is only valid for one year. Has anyone renewed theirs and do you have to pay the fees again?

No, you do not need to pay the fees again as long as you have a pending i-485 and also make sure to file for a renewal 180 days before it expires, not before that and try not to push if off last minute because it does take time for them to process everything. Keep that in mind in case your wife is currently employed. Once you receive the new i-765 NOA1, your old EAD gets extended for another 180 days with the notice itself, which helps a lot until you get your new EAD combo card. Definitely check your exp date on her card! Hope this makes sense, good luck!

Hi everybody, hope you all are staying safe and healthy,

My case just changed from waiting for interview to be scheduled, to Interview was scheduled, since I'm not able to see yet for when it was scheduled, in current times, pandemic, snow storms, etc. how long does it take to actually receive the USCIS letter with the appointment date?

    Many Thanks for your inputs.

I'd give it 7-10 business days. If you haven't received anything until then, I'd try calling them!

Oh no!!!! That’s bad!!! We live in WV and we are getting slammed by snow. I’m a teacher, and we’ve been having to teach remote after we just came back to in person learning☹️.

I’d keep collecting evidence, then. I’ll look into my binders tomorrow and I can send you a picture of our cover letter if you want me to.

Yeah, it's finally getting better! Hopefully everything will be open by Monday, so I will hear from them about my rescheduled AOS interview. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I'd definitely appreciate it and I will use this downtime to take another look at my folders, go over everything one more time. 🙈

I asked the same question to check if my paperwork was complete, and got a couple of answers.

I prepared everything with binder & paper clips. Original + copies. And organized it in the following groups

    A. Beneficiary Docs.

Passport, acta de nacimiento, USCIS notices, marriage certificate, etc.

    B. Petitioner Docs

    Birth Certificate, id,passport,I'd,etc.

    C. Affidavit of support

Sponsor, joint sponsor & beneficiary employment docs.

(Didn't ask me for these papers, only Petitioner &  asked me about my employer)

    D. Bank joint Account

    Didn't want these proof either.

    E. Proof of Marriage 1 and 2.

    Pictures, rent lease,proof of adress,health inssurance,etc.

    Only took the pictures.

Good luck! You will do good and keep us posted!

Thankies for sharing, it's much appreciated! :3

Unfortunately the weather conditions in Texas have not gotten any better and the field office in Dallas has been closed since Tuesday (Monday was President Day and they were closed anyway) and not going to be opening until Thursday as it seems like. So we weren't able to have our interview as scheduled! Hopefully our interview gets rescheduled soon but we don't mind the wait since I have my renewed EAD combo card which is valid for another year. Be safe and stay warm ya'll! ❤️

Thanks! I tend to think before hand and I knew we might be nervous during the interview, so I thought about a way that would make things easier to find in case we were required to. We also put a side tab on each document, and we had a cover letter in the binder stating what was where, again, for organizational purposes. We had prepared two binders: one with original and the other one with copies. Of course, when we mailed it we only mailed the one with copies. They returned everything except for the wedding album. Glad that in this day and age we have digital copies!

Love it! This definitely helped me organize everything. :3

Hi there! Our interview got waived but we were asked to send evidence via mail. We sent:

    Tax returns

    bank statements

Three affidavits from friends and family

an album with every day pictures

    our wedding album

lease with both names on it

vet bill with both our names

copy of DL showing same address

    guest cards to our wedding

copy of random mail coming to our house for both of us

    health and car insurance

We also organized them into three exhibits:

    1) proof of cohabitation

    2) proof of financial comingling

    3) proof of insurance

We were approved two weeks after! Good luck

Thank you for sharing, it's much appreciated! Love how you organized it. 🙏

  15. Hey ya'll! ❤️ My AOS interview is coming up on Tuesday and was wondering if anyone could share some insides on what paperwork and evidence was brought to the interview? I received a list with my interview notice but I'm still organizing it and thought I'd ask for some input. Also, do I need to bring any original documents or are copy enough? This wasn't clear to me. 🙈

Hopefully the office in the Dallas area stays open considering the weather conditions! I haven't received any update about them cancelling the interview yet, so we're going!

Yesterday we had our interview. The Rep was very nice, asked us a variety of questions like how we met, where we live now and when I arrived, etc. All very simple questions. Then he said I was over prepared but they appreciated it a lot because I represented myself with no lawer who could have helped with all the paperwork.

The rep was latino, so all the interview was in spanglish jumping to one language to the other. Before we realized he was asking all tha "no"  answer questions about terrorism. He said within 2 weeks the answer will arrive to our mail, but a couple of hours later my status case changed to "New card is being produced".

Thanks so much to everyone who helped us on Visajourney to complete this process. 🙏

Special thanks to @Fe.Ta & @andreaam guys we helped eachother since k1 in Argentina 🇦🇷  you are amazing guys! Now celebrate before starting the removal of conitions, if there's a new group for that next step, please add me.

Can't explain how happy we are and the great feeling of completion. ❤❤🙏🍾🥂

    Congratulations~! 🥳

I'll be having mine coming up on Tuesday and was wondering what paperwork you brought to the interview? I received a list with my interview notice but I'm still organizing it and thought I'd ask around how others did it. I'd appreciate any input!

After several long months, I'm pleased to announce I have been approved for my greencard at the Tampa, FL USCIS office. After leaving the office, I received a text message 15 minutes later saying my card was being produced.

    Congratulations, such great news~ ❤️

We are waiting for the NAO1 for the renewal. Made a mistake and sent the packet to Dallas instead of Chicago so I think that’s what is taking longer cause it’s been 38 days since USPS delivered it 😭 Hoping to hear soon cause the initial expires 1/21 and they aren’t allowing us to do a case inquiry yet. Was your case MSC before and turned to IOE with the renewal?

Oof, so sorry to hear that! Sounds like this will be delaying your process by a little bit since they would need to relocate it to the correct office. Keep in mind that with the NOA1 in hand, your EAD gets extended for another 180 days but you'll need to be patient until receiving it. Wishing you all the best on that one and fingers crossed. 🤞

And yes, I started off with a MSC case number and it switched to IOE when I filed for the renewal which seems to be a new thing and definitely speeds up the process since it's all electronical apparently.
