  1. It's been a few days already that I have been trying to book an interview appointment with the US Embassy in Santiago. I was able to create an account and select the "K" visa option on the US Visa Appointment Service website but when I get to the step to pay for the $265 USD Visa Fee and schedule an appointment I don't have the option to select a date, it says "No Appointments Available" (see attached screenshot). Unfortunately it doesn't even give me an option to select a date next month, in 2 months, 3 months, etc. simply it says there is "No appointments available"! It's been a bit frustrating. I'm not gonna lie, I haven't been able to sleep well. This is stressing me.

I started to do some investigating and I went on the non-immigrant US Visa Appointment Service website, then I clicked on tourist visas and it gave me the option to schedule an appointment as near next week though so I'm not sure why there is no available dates for the K1 Visa (classified as immigrant for the appointment purposes apparently). It doesn't make too much sense. Is there just 1 person handling this at the embassy? Could it be that they just don't accept that many appointments for K1?

The only theory that makes sense to me at the moment is that since our petition hasn't been changed to "Ready" by the NVC that is why the website won't let me schedule an appointment. I'm not sure if these 2 things are connected but it's the only theory that makes a bit of sense to me. Can anyone confirm that these 2 things may be connected? Maybe once it changes it's status to "Ready"...magically the page will start offering a list of appointments?

For now I downloaded a special extension for my web browser that refreshes the page every 2 minutes and will alert me if any appointment times pop up.

You will not be able to attend the medical without the letter from NVC stating the MNL #, scan and email a copy to your fiancée to bring to St. Luke's.  Or if you received an email from NVC with the MNL # forward this to your fiancée for SLEC. They have not put the clamps on presenting the confirmation page for the interview scheduling which we were able to use as a work around but not anymore.

Keep the interview and see what happens with your physical file. I'm pretty sure it will not go till 11/13-14 so you may have to cancel. But if you resechedule you may have to cancel that. You get 2 cancelations and then you have to start all over with the K-1 application. So be careful and think wisely.

Do you have all the information of what is needed and Hank's website?

Chile. I'm assuming by your profile that she is interviewing in Chile but your questions give me reason to inquire.

That's correct. She will be interviewing in Chile since she lives there as a permanent resident.

    Finished the DS-160! 😎

Now I have a frustrating problem with the Visa Appointment website. 😡

Our lawyer sent us an email (I believe originally from the embassy) with all of the steps to set up an appointment and required paperwork we must take to the interview. There is a link in the email that sends us to the US Nonimmigrant Visa Appointment Services. I clicked "I have completed DS-160 non-immigrant visa application..." which is what they showed me that I need to select. But, next step doesn't have the K1 visa option!! 🙄 So...I went ahead and look at the "Immigrant" version of the US Visa Appointment Services website and found an option for "K Visas". I sent an email to our lawyer and he sent me a link explaining that it's strange what I'm saying and that the K1 visa is a non-immigrant visa so it's strange that there isn't the option to select K1.

I'm almost 100% sure more people have run into this problem on here. Can anyone give me some advice with what they did? Thanks!!

  3. Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if there is anyone on here applying for a K1 Visa in Santiago, Chile?

Unfortunately the US Embassy in Chile and also VJ have little to no information about the process on the internet. The information on VJ seems to be a bit confusing and outdated. It says that we must take a I-156k which after a few Google searches no longer exists, now everything is done on the DS-160.

I believe that my case will be sent out this week from the NVC to the Santiago embassy so I'm wondering the following:

    1. What documents/paperwork should I gather to send by courier to my Fiance in Chile?

    2. What documents/paperwork should SHE gather for the interview?

    3. It seems that Chile doesn't require you to send paperwork before the interview. Can someone confirm this?

    4. Once the case says "Ready" on the NVC website...Do I contact the US Embassy or do we wait for them to contact us?

    5. Where can I pay the Fee?

It would be a miracle if someone could help me out with an idea to this. I'm lost after the NVC phase, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be that much info about K1 in Chile on the internet.

    Thank you!!

  4. It's been months since I sent in my I-129f petition and I've been really calm this entire process; just waiting patiently while the process takes it's natural course. I thought it was a bit funny that there where some people here overly intense trying to call every day to USCIS or NVC; and even several times a day...but now it's my turn and I'm getting nervous! 😂

I'm starting to bite my nails and get impatient LOL - My case was a assigned a case number on October 15th at the NVC, today is October 26th. 11 days have gone by and the case hasn't been sent out to our embassy!!  I've been checking every day now but I see many on here already with "In Transit" updates, "Ready" updates, interviews...and even some have approved approved visas!

Monday will be 2 weeks already since it's been at the NVC😰

First things first. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

    Thanks

Now to answer your question. Allow about 30-45 days to your interview. Currently it's been taking about 2 weeks for USCIS to send the file to NVC. Then it's been taking about 2-3 weeks for NVC to assign the case number. Then it's taking another 2-3 week depending on the Embassy to receive your case. Your mileage may vary!

Great! Thank you for the advice. I filled out as much as I could and now have a more complete timeline and profile.

30-45 days from today would be great. That would probably mean I can spend Christmas with my Fiance here in the US if everything goes well. 😎

  6. Hey everyone. I have been lurking this website almost daily since I started the whole K-1 Visa process back in March. I finally decided to sign up and join the community here!

Today, October 15th, I called the NVC and received our Case# and Invoice#! The status says "AT NVC". I called on Thursday and it still wasn't in so I'm guessing this arrived either on Friday or today to the NVC. Our NOA2 date was September 24th.

I'm curious to know if anyone here can share how long it took them to go from "AT NVC" to "IN TRANSIT" to "READY". I want to know how long this NVC step will take. I do have an idea of how long the embassy will take and the time when we can get the interview done but the NVC step I can't seem to find an answer on here.

    Thank you!
