  1. I came to the US on a K1 visa, married my now-husband but we never filed for the adjustment. Sadly, things didn't turn out the way we wanted and I want to leave him but my passport expired and I can't get a new one since I can't prove to the embassy that I'm here legally since we hadn't filed the AOS

    Can anybody please help me?

    What can I do?

    Thanks in advance...

You can afford vacation, but you're not willing to file and pay for AoS - the only thing that keeps you from being deported? Odd priorities.

I wasnt asking to be judged for this and yes, I can afford a vacation my dad spends for because he has to come to the U.S. for work reasons and wants to see his daughter.

But thank you to everyone else, you helped quite a bit! :)

  3. Hello everybody,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I got married to an U.S. citizen using the K1 visa about a month ago and soon I want to fly from Atlanta to New York for a few days for vacation reasons and I'd like to know if I have to expect any difficulties since we hadn't filed for adjustment of status yet. Is it necessary to file in order to get on a domestic flight?

    Thanks in advance,

    Anna xx

Here is your answer. Each embassy and each case and each of the embassies work load varies from day to day. There isn't anyone that can give you with any certainty your answer.

Alright thank you. I just thought that maybe other people from germany could tell me how long they've waited for it that were pretty recent, you know? That's why I thought I would ask this forum.

  5. Our Case has been sent there on the 5th of October. And it just now moved from "In transit" to "ready". I still have not received my packet 3. I really think you got some time to kill right now..

it says No Status. What does this mean?

I don't know what it means. Maybe it just means that they haven't got to it yet.. But I really don't know. Maybe try to google a bit about it. You can also send me a private message if you want to :)

You will get pack 3 via mail from the embassy. The only thing you can do right now is gathering the documents and doing the medical. So when pack3 arrives you can send it out real fast.

You can get the checklist here:

    https://de.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/21/Instructions-for-IV-and-K-Visa-Applicants-1.pdf

also don’t send anything out until you receive the letter from the embassy because there is a paper in there that you need to fill out!

Well, I can't really do the medical because it says on the doctors page that I need the interview appointment for doing the medical so that's kinda contradicting. And that's what I'm talking about. It's all so messed up and I just totally lost oversight of what to do and what not to do.

  7. Hello,

we've received an email from the NVC that they've send it to the embassy in Frankfurt and with the case number I was able to check our status and it moved from "In transit" to "Ready". It was last updated on the 29th of November 2018. My question is do I have to register or something to receive my Packet 3? And how long will it take to get to me? Has anybody experienced this before and I would also like to hear from people who applied in Frankfurt or Germany in general.

    Thanks in advance :)

  8. I don't think it will be a problem bringing any amount of money back into your country of residence or origin. It's only a problem if you bring a large amount of money into the foreign country. I think the limit the U.S. has that you need to declare is 10,000 USD.

  9. "When your examination is completed, the doctor will send the results to the consulate.

Any x-rays taken will be given to you. You DO NOT need to bring the x-rays to your visa interview. However, you must carry the x-rays with you when you travel to the United States for the first time. The medical report must be less than six months old when you enter the United States as an immigrant."

    As read on https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/FRN - Frankfurt.pdf

I'm not telling anyone what they are or are not supposed to do. This is just what I've read.

  10. Well typically when they have everything (!) including the medical it can take them from 5 days to 3 months. That's a fact, just look at google. Think logically for once and maybe google the wait time between the interview and the date the visa is issued and arrives at your home. Then add like a week at most. Then you have your wait time.

Just trying to help.. Sometimes people can be nice, you know?

    Hello

I have a few questions we filed a K1 visa app and I am a little lost on the process. We did receive the receipt number but who will get a letter about the next steps? My Fiancé is in JA and the mail system there is horrible. Will I get a letter or do I have to just check and call until I get an update? My next question is how many days out do they give you before the appointment?

You will receive the NOA2 from the USCIS center. That letter will say that they forwarded it to the NVC. Once they are done with their process, you can call them and ask them for your case number which is the number that the embassy will have and know you for. And then after waiting, and waiting and waiting,  your fiance will receive a "package" which includes a list with things she needs to do and bring or send to the embassy that she will have the interview at. Some actually give you an interview date and some will ask you to schedule your own date, i don't know how that works exactly. But that's the overall view.

I don't know how many days out they give you before the interview, but it has to be somewhere between 1 and 6 months. Normally it's around 3 months from what I see on the VisaJourney Timeline.

I hope I answered all of your questions.. 😂

Really a year....I knew people that got everything done in 6 or 7 months.

Thanks for reply back. I guess I just wait until I receive something in mail from them to know what to do next??

Yes those 5-7 months is the time from when you filed the I-129 until you receive your case number from the NVC and it's forwarded to the Embassy. From there it will be another 3-4 months, I would say.

We've filed in March 2018, got our NOA2 in October 2018, so 6 months after. Today we still hadn't heard anything from NVC nor Embassy. So it takes a fudge ton of time with these incredibly slow government employees.
