  1. Hi. As the title says, my fiancé left me. I’m still trying to process it, comprehend it. I’m only posting here because, is there anything official I’m supposed to do in this kind of situation? Like maybe contact them somehow and let them know of the situation or just let this go and let the case expire? Or what? Two days after he told me, we had gotten our letter of approval for our I129F, our NOA2. And now our stuff is going through the NVC. I’ve just had to work up the courage to type this. Please let me know. Maybe this is a silly question to ask, but just please let me know, thank you all, you’ve been so helpful through this entire process, even this end of it.

Some you may be able to do, but also may end up just getting them again later, hence why people here will tell you wait until the medical prior to the interview and receive them properly and properly annotated.

I see, that makes sense. Is there some specific place to do it if we chose to do it now, or would any doctor work? And should we also just ask for a record or copies from the doctor that show that he got his vaccinations? Thank you btw 🙂

  3. Hello! My fiancé and I are both just stumped as to when he should get his vaccinations updated or just a new medical exam. We are about 4 months in to waiting for our NOA2, and I believe he should get his vaccinations before we get accepted (hopefully accepted ;~;). He is in Ireland, but unfortunately, his mom seems to be antivax, so he is unsure if he got his vaccinations when he was younger. We’ve been told here on the site from a few different people to wait until the interview phase to get vaccinations and the medical exam then, and told also to just get it now, which is why we’re stumped on what to do. Help would be much appreciated, thank you so much!

  4. Hello! I was just wondering of what exactly to do after our K1 visa is approved? 🙂 what forms to work on, what processes to follow, my fiancé’s work visa, maybe if there is a master list on visajourney I could refer to, to start from? I just don’t want to miss a thing and I want to do this entire process properly for the both of us. I just want to stay with my love. I know there are a bunch of tiny little details and stipulations, and I really want to make sure everything goes smoothly. He lives in Ireland if that helps any. Thank you so much!

I assume you're  the USC living in the US.. No, the back and front of your BC is enough for the 129f, your previous and/or future passport doesn't matter if you provided your full BC instead.

The beneficiary will provide his new passport number when he files the DS-160 in the next step of the process.

I see. And yes I am the USC living in the US. Thank you so much for this Scandi (:. I’m honestly excited to get my passport, I can’t wait to see him again. But thank you!

Not sure I understand your question.   Why would applying for a passport be grounds for denial?

I apologize for the confusion (:. I could’ve sworn I read along the process somewhere that our passports must be up to date, so I added that to my list of things to do for this process. Because I’m pretty sure it said if they weren’t up to date, not the best things would happen lol. Better safe than sorry to me, and I wanted to be sure they were updated before they got a chance to look at our file, which I’m sure this probably sounds silly or overthinking to someone. I apologize for the confusion again (:.

  7. Hi everyone! So, my fiancé and I sent off our I-129f around December 10th, 2018. And unfortunately I am just about to get my passport for the first time in my life (my fiancé visited me from Ireland so he has his passport) I’m about to get mine on February 4th, 2019. My fiancé’s passport expires around summer, but he’s just about to get his renewed as well about the same time (February 4th, 2019). My question would be, would they be able to see this about our passports when they look up our info on us? Or does it even matter? Could it even be grounds for denial? I sent in my birth certificate as proof of citizenship, and along with his just for extra proof for him, along with absolutely everything else necessary, checking definitely 10+ times. Thank you so much for your help! >~< 🙂

After almost 7 months we got RFE :( we dont know what it is as the letter hasnt arrived but hoping its something simple

😞 remember, it’s not the end of the world, you both stay strong and focus on the love in your relationship and how happy you both make each other (:. Thank you so much for the links. I had no idea about them, I’m just starting this process, so this helps so much. If you need someone to talk to going through the exact same process, I’m here my friend 🙂❤️ it’ll be okay, you both just stay strong, I know it’s extremely hard some days /:

  9. Hi everyone! So, my fiancé and I sent off our i129f around December 10, 2018. We are now looking to update our passports this week as my fiance’s is older and well, I honestly don’t have one yet, but of course I sent in my birth certificate. I checked the i129f about 10 times before sending it in and that is truly no exaggeration. We are looking to update any needed vaccinations too of course for my fiancé before the NOA2, hopefully to god an approval.

I know that I must do thorough research on the embassy we will have our interview at, amongst other things.

Well. While my fiancé was here with me, he actually lived with me for 2 months, he lived with me and my family, which I know is unconventional, but I and my family have never been happier than that time actually. They could see how in love we are and he instantly became part of the family. In our i129f, I included pictures of just him and I and also some with us and the family, and letters from my parents stating how they love him as well, and how they’re more than willing for him to live with us until we get steady financially. I basically let the USCIS know we have a plan already financially as well, and included an affidavit of support from both of my parents and all the requirements too (even though I know it’s not necessary yet) and we’re already saving money up as I write this. And my parents meet the financial requirements as well thankfully, very well.

    My question is, with this info I provided which was even more thorough in the i129f than I just stated, what do you think the chances are of getting approved with the NOA2? Because sometimes I’m crawling up the wall with nerves, and other days I’m fine. Thank you so much for your feedback if you choose to and for reading this 🙂 you are helping me so much more than you know ;~;

We're an American/Irish couple too, the old site has our NOA1 as June 29th, the new website as it as July 5th, we still havent gotten our NOA2 yet 😕

May I ask what you mean by the old site and the new site??(: I seriously hope you both get your NOA2 as soon as possible! 😞 the wait must be grueling, I’m sure it’ll be there someday soon. It must be considering how much time has passed now. Stay strong and look forward to the positive 🙂

Beneficiary is from Ireland? Very little to worry about unless there are issues such as overstay/ban/criminal record on the part of the beneficiary. The “genuine relationship” issue is rarely an issue for beneficiaries from western countries.

Yes he is from Ireland (:. I’m glad there’s so little to worry about, and yes there are no such issues as what you just named thankfully. I’m just so anxious for us to be together again. Thank you again for all of your help 🙂 it settles our minds so much.

If the beneficiary is in Ireland, you should be fine, as it is a low-fraud country.  And fill out your timeline, it really helps others to give accurate advice.  Happy Holidays and all the best with this long process!  I'm leaving in two days to be with my husband in Brazil, for 9 glorious days!  We hope to be together here in the US in about 9 months if all goes well.

Yes 🙂 my incredible fiancé is in Ireland. God I miss him. I’m glad to see it is a low fraud country, I’ve heard that a few times before as well somewhere, I just can’t recall. Happy holidays to you as well, and thank you for taking the time to reply and help! I wish you the best with your husband and this long and tedious process!

The first step, filing the petition, which takes about six months to get approved at USCIS, is looking at eligibility to file for a visa--they look at the petitioner's information to determine this, such as proof of US citizenship, divorce documents if previously married, intent to marry statements, and evidence of the meeting the beneficiary at least once in the previous two years.  If the requirements are met, all documents included, forms filled out correctly and completely, they will usually approve the petition.  If there is a concern or missing information, they will send an RFE (request for evidence) and if that is satisfied, the petition will eventually be approved.  The petition approval is really just to establish the petitioner's right to sponsor their fiance.  Then the file goes to the embassy or consulate to schedule the visa interview, about four months after the petition is approved.  The reason denials are more likely at the interview is because the focus there is on granting the visa to the beneficiary, so more scrutiny is involved to prevent visa fraud, looking at the beneficiary's documents, intent, and whether or not the relationship is real or fake.  Some countries are high fraud countries, so denial rates are very high at the interview stage.  Others are not and approvals are more common.  I would suggest that you read the K1 visa threads here on VJ to learn more, and visit your specific country portal to read about interviews at your consulate, to know what to expect.  Consular officers also are trained to look for signs of fraud, red flags like a big age difference, only one face to face meeting, and very little evidence of meeting at all.  Spend some time here on VJ and you will learn a lot.  You can also look at average processing time for your specific country.  Good luck with the process.  It takes a long time but it's worth it if you really love each other.

Ohhh, thank god! xD first of all, thank you so much for writing out all of that info 🙂 I am absolutely sure now my fiancé and I will be fine during the interview. I only asked because I thought I had missed something technical, or had to prepare for something technical for the interview that I had missed. But no, we are ridiculously in love and we are both prepared for the interview and for them to see that, we already knew about that as well anyways. Thank you for reaffirming all of that info for me so much, I feel much better (:. This truly is a test of patience, I really did think I was the most patient person in the world. ;~; but then comes this.

Average time to I-129F petition decision right now is 6 months, but that's only the USCIS stage of the process.  From there to the visa interview at the consulate abroad is another 4 months, for a total (average) time for a K-1 of 10 months.  Denials are more often at the consulate interview stage, and keep in mind that some take less and others more time than the averages.  You can see the average times here on VJ, just click processing times and then K1.  These are actual times in the last year for VJ users.  Plan on at least the average of 10 months until a final decision and maybe more, depending on RFEs and other issues that can cause delays like lost paperwork at USCIS or problems at the interview abroad.  If it takes less than a year, consider yourselves lucky.  Make the best of the waiting and stay positive!  Best of luck to you.

I see, thank you for so much info! If I may ask, would you happen to know why denials are more common during the interview stage? 🙂 I’ve read a few stories on VJ, and some people, they have very few questions for thankfully, and I did my best to answer as many questions as possible that I foresee them having for us in the I-129f at the interview. Is there a place I can research why there are more denials at that stage further? Or keyword I can use on VJ?(: I just want to be so careful ;~; thank you so much for all of the info. I just am so anxious to be together with my fiancé once again.

  15. Hi all! So, we sent off our I-129f earlier this December of 2018. We are now just waiting and doing a bit of further research. But as we wait, I can’t help but have a nagging feeling and question; if we were to get the godforsaken denial, or very welcome approval, would we get either answer in 6+ months time? Or if it were a denial, would it come sooner? I know my fiancé and I built an extremely strong case for the both of us, but I can’t help but follow the philosophy of hope for the best but expect the worst. If I may ask, others who have been approved recently, how long did your NOA2 take? We’ve already gotten our NOA1 🙂 thankfully. Thank you all so much for your help!

    * Moved from K-1 Progress Reports to P&P *

Yes, exact fees are required at every strep in the process. USCIS doesn't give change and cannot take more than their fee.

You can just fix what's wrong and re-send. New forms are not necessary (except in the rare cases where the form edition is no longer accepted).

Thank you so much Geowrian (‘: this helps a ton, and makes me feel a bit more at ease. All I seem to have to do is resend only $535 and not $540 and that seems to be it, it makes me really happy that that’s all they seem to have found wrong with our packet so early on and have already gone through it all, as indicated by them writing all over our packet as well. If I may ask, do you think it’s sure that I don’t have to resend new forms and only have to fix what’s wrong? Thank you so so much again for all of your help (:.

  17. 57 minutes ago, jeanita68 said:

Yes you must send exact amount. 535.00 I've seen other cases on here where it has happened. Even 1.00 more will cause them to send it back.

Thank you Jeanita (:, if you also know, should I redo my i129f again and put the current date on it? Or leave it as is? What they did was stamp/write on the bottom of all forms they sent back to me, even supporting docs. Thank you for your help so much 🙂 and if you don’t know, I absolutely understand.

  18. So we sent off our i129f, and got back our entire packet (original docs, intent forms, travel docs, everything etc.) with the notice that we must resubmit our forms with the correct fee. I sent in 540$, just in case anything went wrong with the payment. “I don’t know, extra money couldn’t hurt” was what was going through my mind, but it seems they want EXACTLY $535. It says in the notice to send the correct fee, everything else seems to be perfectly fine with the forms thankfully, except they wrote on the bottom of every single document of what I sent in, even our supporting documentation.

My question: Am I supposed to redo this entire i129f, with original signatures (i.e., signatures from my fiancé across the world for the letter of intent), or just redo and resubmit the i129f forms since they wrote on them with the correct payment? Thank you for reading this far if you did! I’m so sorry, could never be too safe. Thank you again everyone.

  19. So yes, I just sent off our I-129f forms, and I’m actually feeling pretty confident about it. I’m actually feeling extremely excited to finally be able to start the process of marrying my incredible Sean, and to be done with this stressful and tedious portion. I was so careful. We were so careful.

Now, is there anything else between now and awaiting the NOA 1 and 2 and interview process that I should know about or do? Perhaps gather? Or my fiancé? Thank you so much for the help! I can’t explain how grateful I am for this visajourney community, thank you all so much for your help.

  20. Hi! My fiancé just got done sending me his signed US sized passport-like photos all the way from Ireland, and unfortunately, we both made a mistake and he only signed them in cursive. He didn’t sign them in print, only cursive. His first and last name of course, but just cursive. If I were to send these to the USCIS, does anyone think this would warrant an RFE or denial? Or must it be in print? This most likely sounds like overthinking, but can never be too safe I’d assume. Thank you so much for your help!

They are no longer required. I filed for a fiancé visa back in December 2017 and was approved this past July - we did not include that form.  All of the info from the g-325a is already included on the I-129 you fill out.

Thank you so much! That made me feel so much better lol. I’m happy you and your fiancé got approved as well 🙂 good luck on the rest of your journey!

  22. After reading a mildly confusing thread here on visajourney from April, and giving it a few months time, has anyone had any experience still sending in g-325a forms with their I-129f forms or not sending them in and still getting accepted?(: thank you! I’m just not sure still if they’re no longer required. But thank you for your feedback if you reply!

Just an fyi.  I submitted 1 page of photos 4 up.  Photos are secondary evidence.   Quantity of secondary evidence does not improve your petition approval.   Quality primary evidence does

That’s very true. It feels so strange to submit so few, but I will submit only the ones that matter the most. I definitely do have quality secondary evidence without a doubt. Thank you so very much for such sound advice (:. This thread helped me more than initially planned.

I am waiting on my NOA2 so I can't say it was approved but I did notate everything. From copies of my boarding passes, to pasting my pictures on a paper and explaining each one, where it was taken, what date, who is in the pic, etc.

That’s extremely good to know 🙂 I plan to explain each of my pics as well, and I’m glad you got accepted doing what I plan to as well (:. I hope you don’t have to wait much longer and everything goes smoothly!

You can highlight passages, put sticky notes on pages to notate, etc. Are you including pictures of you together? Those would be more appropriate for evidence of relationship than receipts are.

Thank you so much :3 and yes I am including pictures of us, many with us and my family together with us (:. Thank you so much for your reply, it eased my thoughts more than you know.
