It's because the party that is "winning" controls the justice department.  Nothing much was done when voter fraud and corruption were shown to have occurred during the 2020 election, either.

So this is it? After 2020 we entered into a dystopian era of shady election cycles that will strip us of even more rights and make our lives miserable and we can’t do anything about it? 🥺😔☹️

So I wonder what the odds are that the corrupt Democrats will take enough House races to maintain their one party rule.

I don’t think they will take the House but it’s a shame if they win the senate. They should’ve have lost both by a long margin. I guess I don’t understand why don't the thousands of R voters go and protest that their votes are still being counted after all these days and expose the corruption and shady things that are taking place form the election ballot staff and democrats. I just don’t see any pushback or protest over this obvious shady election.

After how long do we get our supporting documents back?

I received my passport with typo in name 14 days back but still waiting for my certificate of naturalization back, so I can apply for a new passport to fix the typo. Any idea after how long people are getting back their certificate of naturalization from the passport agency once they receive the passport? My the passport was expedited.

I still haven't received back my original NC document after I applied for an expedited US passport and received it the same day back in November 2021. I needed the passport to fly overseas to see my sick grandma and the only available appointment was the same day as my flight at 12pm and my flight was at 11pm. And the funny thing is they couldn't tell me for sure if I would receive the passport before they close so there was a possibility that I spend all day there and miss my flight. Thankfully I received it about an hour before the passport center closed its doors so I headed straight to the airport and to my amazement I noticed that they didn't give me back my NC. It's outrageous that there is nobody on the phone to reach out and the only way to talk to somebody is by mailing a letter with your concern to VA which I did back in March and haven't received any response yet. The pace in which this once great nation is going down hill is truly chilling. More and more of our hard earned money are going to corrupted public employees to get crappy service in return.

The only original was the NC, everything else were copies made by the USPS employee. So we have to pay the DoS $150 to conduct a search on our file if it comes out empty handed we have to pay USCIS $550 for a replacement of the NC and it can take up to 10 months to get it.

This once great nation is starting to look more like the countries we tried to escape from for a better future. Truly a shame, everything is going downhill.

Another one here, received passport and card on February 22nd, going on almost 3 weeks no sign of my NC. My stuff was processed in Dallas, TX (locator 55). I will wait a couple more weeks and make the call to the national passport information center to see if there’s any help with this. I’m definitely not looking forward on having to pay $700+ for a replacement and wait months for it.

The national passport information center will not give you any help. They will tell you to write a letter instead to the US department of state for any inquiries. I'm curious though, is the cost of a NC replacement $700+?? I thought it was $150 for New York area. Other than the NC paper can you help me and tell me what other documents they kept because I don't remember at all what I handed them, other than the NC original document.

  6. Mine went similar to yours, other than the fact that when I checked in, the lady at the counter gave me the wrong room number for the interview so after waiting in the wrong room for about 20' I hear my first name and I follow the Officer to her desk and after she asks me to take an oath, she asked asked some history/civic questions and checked my green card and passport, she realizes that I am in the wrong room and not only that, she also claimed that she didn't actually ask for my first name, supposedly she called somebody else's name. Thankfully she was kind enough and pointed out the correct room number so I went there and I was panicked cause I didn't know if they had already called my name and assumed that I wasn't there at all for the interview. Thankfully, after about 15' I heard my name and I went through the interview with a seemingly very young guy, maybe 25 years old. He said I passed the civics test and I would receive a letter in a few weeks with the oath ceremony date.

I was asked same questions as yours.

    - Do you have a job and I said yes and he asked me where I worked and I told him and he agreed and says oh yes I see it here

    - DO you have children - I said yes a babygirl

    - Do you pay taxes - Yes

He proceed to asks like 4-5 more of the yes or no questions.

My biggest stress was that I had some traffic tickets which I had him disclose them in the form originally and when I mentioned them to the Officer he said that it's fine as long as they're not DUI involved or caused an accident, he was very cool about it.

Since one of my kids sold auto insurance, learned about a database they have access to that list your entire driving record. To get started with my stepdaughter, contacted my auto insurance agent. Also been a lot of scams in this country with guys pretending to be the police, even if you get a ticket out of state, it is suppose to be reported to your DMV located in the capital of your state. Can find that on the internet for contact information. If your ticket isn't listed, more than likely you have been scammed.

Course can also run into sloppy court houses, just want your money and toss the paperwork away, to them its history. I assume your IO asked you if you had any traffic violations and you answered yes. Then asked if you had proof if you paid them. If you still have your drivers' license, more than likely you did. If a traffic fine is not paid, can expect a visit from your local police to show up, remove your license plates and take away your drivers' license.

You have to answer yes to any traffic violations, even a parking ticket, if you answered no, to even a two buck parking ticket, and they find out about it, you lied on your N-400 and for that, can be deported. When I got my senators office involved with my stepdaughters' minor traffic violations, the St. Paul office changed their tune. We had nothing to hide.

Ridiculous. Meanwhile there are millions of illegal immigrants in this country and they are treated better than some of us that are perfectly lawful and legal immigrants and we can be so easily deported at the first chance. It's just not fair.

  8. In 2016, After I received my GC for the first time in November 2015, my accountant advised me that I don't have to file a tax return for the year of 2015 since I didn't have any income from a job and was a new resident for about a couple of months only. I also didn't have a bank account yet.

Does this constitute any form of violation of my LPR status?

I was wondering what is the appropriate answer in the question in N-400 form.

    A. "Have YOU ever not filed a Federal, state or local tax return since you became a lawful permanent resident?

    B. IF you answered "Yes", did you consider yourself to be a "non-U.S. resident"?

  9. I would like to ask a few questions.

I am a DV winner and I was granted in New York a GC on November of 2015 valid for 10 years in.

    1. Is it true that LPR's have to wait 5 years until they apply for free or subsidized healthcare?

I received free madicaid for about two years when my income was very low as I proved by my tax returns and now I withdraw completely

    from madicaid.

Is this going to be a trouble when I apply for GC renewal or citizenship in the future? Because I haven't find a definitive answer yet.

    B. IF you answered "Yes", did you consider yourself to be a "non-U.S. resident"?

    3. In January 2018 I had a small claims court which I had initiated against a client who refused to pay for my services for the business I maintain from home and the client won the case.
I also got a traffic ticket for cellphone but I plead not guilty and I appointed an attorney to represent me and he

successfully dismissed the fine and the points on my driver's license.

Should I mention these incidents to my naturalization application and if yes how and in which line exactly I should mention it.

    4. I noticed in a UCSIS confirmation email I received when I changed address a couple of years ago that I had mistakenly wrote 83th St. instead of 83th Ave.

All the other information is correct and as I checked in the USPS website, if I put 27th St, it comes up a suggestion that the right address is 27th Ave.

Also, in google maps wen I put the wrong address, it shows the right place on the map and I see a photo of my apartment.

Should I contact UCSIS and let them know of this error or is it something minor since the address still points to the correct location on the map?

    * I suppose since I received my GC, that I don't have any pending case anymore with the UCSIS so they wouldn't need to send me any document after that point.

    Am I correct?

    Thank you

Health Insurance is not mandatory. But when you file taxes without one, you will pay the fine. In my case i never have it just make sure that i don't get sick and just pay the fine. Its cheaper that way seriously JUST DONT GET SICK(OVERSIMPLIFIED but that works for me).

I don't think this is wise, although of course anyone is free to do as they wish. During my first trip to the US, my appendix burst and the hospital bill was well over $100,000. Luckily I had travel insurance which covered every last cent plus trip losses. If I hadn't, I'd still be in debt. It would have destroyed my life. Ever since, I would never be in this country without health insurance for at least emergencies. I'll add that I'm generally a very healthy person - healthy weight, vegetarian, non-smoker, rare drinker, exercise, etc. Nothing I could have done to prevent it.  Forking out a couple hundred a month for expat emergency health insurance is worth not losing everything over something out of your control.

And what about this 5 year wait for LPRs until they apply for Medicaid? is it true for all cases?

That means all of us who got medicaid as soon as we got the GC, we are in trouble?

I would change the address online. My wife updated her address online about 6 months after we moved (we forgot about it). She then filed for removal of conditions on her green card 2-3 months after that. She hasn't been approved yet (nor has anyone who applied when she did), but she also hasn't encountered any problems either (knock on wood).

Sorry about this. I just checked my old emails and I saw that I had submitted the address change and received a confirmation back from UCSIS.
The only issue is that I put by mistake a street number instead of Avenue number but otherwise everything else is correct.
I had no pending case after I received my Green Card so I doubt they sent me any document.
Should I contact them and notify of the error?

Probably not. I don't recall seeing anyone on VJ having a problem with renewing a GC or getting citizenship after failing to update their address w/in 10 days of their move.

    Thanks.

Should I change the address online now even though being so late, or send by certified mail the AR-11 along with a letter explaining that I honestly wasn’t aware of this requirement and didn't do it on purpose? But I'm afraid I'm going to draw a negative attention on my case if I send the form along with an explanatory letter. A friend suggested me not to report the change at all now because it is very late and wait until I move to a new address and then report.

    1. I received the GC at my sister's residence where I lived for a few months and then I moved in a new place on the same borough but I recently realized that I should have notified UCSIS within 10 days of the address chang. Now it is almost 2 years when I changed residence and all my bank accounts, my taxes and my business are registered to the new address. Do you think I am going to face any issue from the department of immigration in the future when I apply for my green card renewal or citizenship?

  14. I am a bit confused on this subject. Is Health Insurance mandatory?? Meaning I don't have the right NOT to have insurance? If I don't apply for one and get penalized when I do my taxes will that be considered an offense or misdemeanor for my immigration status?

Also, what's the deal with this 5 year wait period for an LPR before he applies for subsidized health insurance? Does it apply for all LPR's? I got free health care a few months after I received my GC.

  15. Hi. I have a couple of questions that really are stressing me out and I would like your input.

I apologize if this isn't the right thread to post or if similar posts exist.

    2. I am also very stressed with the new law proposal that states that legal immigrants who used Obamacare may be accused as public charge and face denial of GC or Citizenship. The article I read clearly doesn’t mention only food stamps or welfare, but also subsidized health care from the government.
Does that mean that we shouldn’t have a subsidized plan at all so that we don’t risk a public charge offense? When I came in the US I used free health care for about 1.5 years because I didn’t have the sufficient funds to pay a premium health care plan.

    Thank you.
