When I arrived in omaha, I visited SSA and told them I checked the box. They asked me to wait for 2 weeks to avoid having 2 cards. After 2 weeks, i went back ,and applied , and then got the card in 8 days.

I checked it too! All the office told me was to wait 3 weeks and if they didn’t send us it, they could issue us one.  It never came so they issued us one.  If the border officer doesn’t do something correctly when you enter, you’ll never receive a SSN even if box was checked off. (That’s what our SSN office said has been happening lately)

Yes we went today & she told us they never even issued a ssn yet & he's been here almost a month now. So they did the application and said we should get it within 2 weeks in the mail!

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it!!!

Took 6 weeks for us. We also had to go to SSN office to get the SSN card!

I called my town hall and we did not have to register our marriage anywhere! Just have extra copies of the certificate from abroad for insurance etc.

I called USCIS and they told me when my GC was issued.

Another quick question! Does it matter that I chose the box on visa application that I wanted aSSN issued? When I go to the SSA will they not issue one since ive already checked that box when I was applying?

Did you guys check that box on the application?

We will go to the social security office asap! And I guess well just wait for the green card

  5. I have a question for the group!!

I am done with my immigration process.

My husband is here in the US and I was wondering:

    1. For anyone in my situation, how long did it take for your spouse to get their green card in the mail (my husband has been here for 3 weeks)

    2. Do we have to register our marriages somehow for that they are recorded just like a US marriage would be? Or do we have to go get a marriage license and remarry here?

    3. How long did it take to get your spouses social security numbers?. I did mark the box for one on the visa application.

    4. Is there any ph# we can Call to check To see if Ss# was issued or green card has been mailed out?

Thank you guys in advance for your help!!

    Hi. Thanks. The questions are:

    1. How did we meet?

    2. When was the wedding?

    3. How big the wedding was?

    4. What's my spouse's do for a living?

    5. What state my husband lives?

    6. How many times my husband visited me here?

    7. When was the last time you've been together?

Mainly easy and personal questions. The consul didnt even ask for our conversations and photograph together. Just answer the questions direct to the point and with confidence, and you'll be good. Goodluck on your journey. 😊

This helps a lot! Thank you!

    Hello!

We got case complete on March 20th and got our interview letter on April 9th... so it took about 20 days, but i’ve Seen some cases that have only taken about a week. I think it depends on your country

Yes i've heard it depends on how busy your consulate it. We got case complete last week so are just waiting on the interview to be scheduled! My sister in law waited about 2.5 weeks before getting an interview date, thats for the Sydney consulate.

Thanks guys. This gives me hope to at least know in May!

    Hello Everyone,
First i would like to thank  you all from this Forum. We started this journey with some of you back in March 2018. Many of you have helped me with questions and I'd like to think i helped some as well :)

My wife had her Consular Interview today in POS Trinidad and was approved. She said the interview  lasted 5 mins (at most). Thank God this journey is about to be over.

For those of you still in the wait- keep faith, follow the process and it will happen. Take your time when submitting documents. You may read some of my past posts on mistakes i made in the NVC phase. ( i literally submitted a document rotated 90 degrees incorrectly smh) Non the less- all learning experiences. I am no Immigration lawyer but thank God was able to go through this entire process without having to hire one. This happened with the help from this Forum and God's Grace.

Take Care, God Bless and wishing everyone a speedy process!

    For reference:

    • RFE from NVC on Feb 13 2019
    • Documentarily Qualified on Feb 27 2019
    • Got Interview Notice from NVC : March 13 2019
    • Interview on April 17- Approved.

Indeed you have! Good luck to you and Youre wife 🙏🏾🧡 That is AMAZING

I got an email today from the NVC about mt husbands birth certificate that we reuploaded that was 2 years old. They came back today as invalid doc again stating the cant see all aide of it but you can CLEARLY see that is not true! The document was literally scanned in its entirety. What should I do guys? Uggh this is so frustrating 😣

I kind of get over looked it this group for some reason 🤔 But ill give an update anyway.. i talked to rep at NVC who said it was missing a stamp which wasn't true. I talked to supervisor who told me ro submit it zoomed out on a background which sounds ridiculous but no sense in arguing with them. I will resubmit tonight 😒 and the waiting still continues...
