  1. My wife came here on K1 june 2019, we married july and she received her 2  year green card in feb 2020 and has had a SSN since august. We are going to file MFJ and her foreign income for 2019 is about $8k. We only need to file federal taxes also. Can this be done in turbotax or the like? I was reading it might need to be filed paper because you have to include a statement saying spouse would like  to be treated as a resident or so? I have been seeing conflicting stuff so if any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

  2. You are free to do what you want, but when someone does a search later they should have the correct information. The correct information is to add what they ask for and not what you think they want.

Just make sure you add all the stuff they want first then add the fluff stuff in later so you don't forget something that is required. You asked a question I gave an answer. I don't want you to get an RFE or a denial based on the information I provided so I answered with sound advice.

If you were coming from a country that is high on fraud I would say load up.

Completely agree with you here. You 100% get an RFE if you don't include enough information. You 100% do not get an RFE if you include too much information. At the most, you might slightly annoy the USCIS officer reading the packet. What's the saying anyways, better safe than sorry?

??? I don't understand. If you have done this before and know what works why the questions that are pretty straight forward in the instructions?

i never understand why people are so adamant on here about people NOT including information haha especially since it will not just be looked at by uscis

lurkers also read this board and they may not necessarily be looking at everyone's country to determine if their's is high fraud or not and whether they would need to front load.

either way as long as you don't look married, you should be good. do what feels right. too much cant hurt as long as you dont look married in the evidence. either they'll look at it or not. no biggie, i cant fathom too much info would delay anything unless your packaging was sorely organized.

The more information you include the more that can be used against you. Example: if they think you might be overdoing it to mask fraud. Same reason when a cop pulls you over and says do you know why i pulled you over? you say NO. You don't say yes i know i was speeding and didnt use turn signal etc.

You can do what you want but a lot of people come back complaining "The CO thought this about my picture which isnt true!"

  5. Providing a ton of evidence for no reason. They are going to have to weed through all the junk to get to what they want. Make it as easy as possible for them to find whats required. If they wanted all the extra stuff it would say please include this, this, this, and this. Mine was 2 sentences that said "she came in august 2018 we went to universal studios and disney then came home and i worked the rest of the time." My evidence was a couple pictures which I wouldnt have sent any if I had to do it over and some passport stamps/boarding pass. NO RFE.

They do? Are you sure about that?

I'm no expert, but that seems highly unlikely.

My packet contained lots of Chinese text. I doubt they had an officer in Dallas logging every line of Chinese text.

If this were really true, why doesn't USCIS instruct us to scan our documents ourselves and submit digital copies? Seems like it would save the government a lot of time and money.

When talking about the US government, time and money are their least concern especially when it is  your time and your money. When I worked for the city I lived in they would take 6 months to a year to make a decision on something that was needed right away and spend 3x the money on everything.

  7. 1 or 2 sentences is all you need on how you met in the last 2 years nothing more. All they care about is that you met 1 time in the last 2 years so that you meet the requirement. Don't shoot yourself in the foot on accident because you can't follow the directions. If I was the person reading petitions i surely wouldn't read 3 pages  about your life story(not that your life story is bad or anything) especially not when it isn't required.

When I left my country, I quit my job of 4 years to come here and start over from scratch. My education and background was not what companies were looking for in the field of work that I was accustomed to so I ended up getting a job at a call center and then moved up in the company where I made it to Supervisor status in a few months after being hired.

I have bought 2 SUVs and a house since moving here and my son will turn 1.5yrs old in a little bit. Right now, I'm trying to save so that I can move out of Florida because the cost of living here is ridiculous for what companies are willing to pay you.

congrats! I know what you mean about florida good lord a 2 room apartment costs more to rent than a mortgage for a 3 bedroom house.

  9. Photographs

You must submit one color passport-style photograph of yourself and one color passport-style photograph of the beneficiary taken within 30 days of filing this petition. The photos must have a white to off-white background, be printed on thin paper with a glossy finish, and be unmounted and unretouched. Form I-129F Instructions 11/07/18 Page 11 of 14 The color passport-style photos must be 2 by 2 inches. The photos must be in color with full face, frontal view on a white to off-white background. Head height should measure 1 to 1 3/8 inches from top of hair to bottom of chin, and eye height is between 1 1/8 to 1 3/8 inches from bottom of photo. Your head must be bare unless you are wearing headwear as required by a religious denomination of which you are a member. Using a pencil or felt pen, lightly print your name and A-Number (if any) on the back of the photo.

If you submit after the 30 days you didnt follow the rules. Follow the rules carefully so that you dont get an RFE or a denial. Don't mess with immigration. If it s ays to submit within 30 days it means submit within 30 days not 31 days not 35 days...30.

I suggest you go here https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f and download the instructions form and read it carefully and do exactly what it says to do.
