I personally think your husband feels a false sense of security in the lawyer and you're spot on with DIY'ers who take support from forums like this seem to have less issues. And, well, more money in their pockets!
I'm sure you could manage it yourselves. We managed hub's citizenship and my kids and I's greencards and the greencards weren't straight forward (F2 category to IR before we made it to interview!). Citizenship is arguably one of the less complicated applications to oversee!
Good luck!
tHANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing! I agree, my attorney which cost us thousands dollars made my green card process very long and complicated! But my case was very simple to begin with. I do not understand why does my husband trust them.

Why do you need an attorney?
My husband just wants to feel safe. He said it is always better to do it with an attorney. But I do not think so, because in accordance with my own experience, people who do it themselves always get approved without any issues, but attorneys only make it troublesome and longer!

You can apply without an attorney, most people on this site who have gone through naturalization have done it by themselves-plus it will save you quite a bit of money if you DIY. There are guides at the top pf the page to help you out and if you have any questions, people in this forum will be happy to help. Good luck and keep us updated.
Thank you! yes, I think it is better to do it myself.

Your Russian citizenship has nothing to do with your ability to procure American citizenship at this time. Don’t get sidetracked seeing ghosts that don’t exist.
Thank you for your reply!

FWIW, I hired a lawyer for my K-1 and they were slow to respond to USCIS and consulate messages, and we had an e-mail back-and-forth to remove transcription errors in the forms they were going to send. My lawyer is hard to reach because he is often either in court or at a USCIS office. Though many members on this site are diehard DIY types, I am probably going to do SimpleCitizen for my AOS, https://simplecitizen.com/ just because it is a pain to populate a lot of the same information across lots of PDF forms and I don't like to miss anything. They are TurboTax for immigration. You fill out a bunch of web forms and then an attorney reviews your data. When you are ready, the software generates one big PDF for you to print and sign without the human transcription errors.
When I looked into it, SimpleCitizen appears to be backed by the same investors investors as DropBox and Airbnb (YC) and they were recently acquired by Fragomen, which is the company that a lot of the Fortune 50 uses for employment immigration. Full disclosure: I have no affiliation with the company or their investors at all. I am just very pro-automation when it works because I have a busy schedule.
That's great! Thank you for the option! I will consider it! I've never heard of it before.

No. They'll be professional. You'll be fine. It's possible your message just got lost. I wouldn't assume anything, especially the worst. Just call him until he answers, if you really want to use a lawyer. I doubt he is purposely ignoring you.
Most people don't need a lawyer, though. At least, not if you understand English well enough. You are right, thank you!

Your attorney may have shitload of other high paying cases keeping him busy. Hey may not even know ongoing russia ukraine stuffs.
May be...I really hope so...that it is not a political reason. Before he called me back right away. Always.

If you meet the requirements to file for the N400, then fill out the application. The N400 is a fairly simple form, and there is not a lot of required evidence, so you can certainly do it yourself.
Good Luck!
Thank you very much!

Read N400 instructions thoroughly. If it says GC holders with Russian citizenship can't apply for or will be denied the citizenship, don't file. If it doesn't say anything about Russia, file for it.
Thank you for your reply. Obviously it does not say about Russia, but I just feel bad after my attorney does not even want to talk to me..... Who knows, may be people at the interview will be the same...

I wanted to apply for my citizenship. I am a Russian citizen. I called my lawyer who did all my paper work before (from fiance visa to my permanent GC), his secretary did not connect me with him, she said that they will call me back to make an appointment. But they never did. I guess it is because of the situation between Russia and Ukraine. I can file it myself, but now I am not sure if I get rejected or not....because I am from Russia....

I sent my GC back and my online status has been changed in week saying that they received it. Does anyone know how long does it take before I get my new GC?
I received my new 10-yrs GC on October 15th. Fortunately every information on it is correct!

Hi guys, if anyone knows what evidence do they usually request? I filed I-90 (replacement, because I received a 2-year GC instead of the 10 years) on September 8, my online status has been changed, it says USCIS sent a request for evidence. Can't wait to see this letter!

They'll update the status to "card received" so you can watch for that on your myuscis account. But, yes, there will be a period of waiting where you are without any card. You might be able to get an emergency I-551 stamp in your passport during the time you are without the card.
Thank you! Will I be able to get an emergency I-551 stamp after I give them my card? Or I need to get it before I send it to them?

Got it. The RFE is probably asking for the original card. Similar thing happened to my husband when he filed the I-90. He got an RFE asking for the original card. Since you've been waiting almost 1 year, it seems you're finally at the end of the process and once you send the card in, that's the final step.
Yep! I really hope so! But a little afraid to send my original card back.

OP, did you already go through the removing conditions process?
I filed I-90 Replacement (not the removing one) one year ago.

Did you turn in the erroneous card when you submitted your I-90?
Not yet, we sent a copy, my lawyer said we will send it if they ask. So probably the ask for my GC...It says they request initial evidence.

Your timeline says you got married in 2018 but you wrote in your profile that it was 2016. If it was 2016 and you got approved in 2019 then the 10 year card is right. If you got approved after being married for longer than two years you're totally fine with the unconditional card.
Oh, I made a mistake. Yes, I got married in 2016.

When did you get married and when was your green card approved?
I got married on January 2016, my GC was approved on September 2019.
