No it is not the same for everyone.

Each embassy has it's own procedure.

Everyone's experience after NVC will be different.

This example is for the UK as that is the poster's embassy.

You could find yours by looking through your embassy's portal on VJ.

PS your lawyer is not informed. All K1's go through the NVC and are issued an NVC case number.

I have been searching for Nigerian portal and cant find it. The NVC thing did not sound right to me aswell. He said the petition goes through there but I do not need to wait for a case number. That confused me.

Nigeria is a difficult Embassy to process through. My recommendation is to overload your evidence for the interview. Here a couple of study guides to you to use.

    Fiance/Fiancee visas (K1s, K3s)

If your K1 or K3 petition has been approved by the Department of Homeland Security and you have received notification from the National Visa Center that your petition is on its way to post, you should download and complete the following application. The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos will contact you when your petition has arrived at post so that you may schedule your appointment. If you have questions, you may e-mail LagosIV@state.gov. [Click to open "Interview Preparatory Packet (K1, K3)"PDF 539KB] Also, please review the pamphlet “Information on the Legal Rights Available to Immigrant Victims of Domestic Violence in the United States and Facts about Immigrating on a Marriage-Based Visa.”  (PDF 53KB)

First of all, if you haven’t already done so, make sure you complete your DS-160 and request your police certificate.  When you have your case number, you can call Knightsbridge to schedule your medical exam.  You’ll need to give them your case number when you schedule your appointment.  Once you have your exam scheduled, DS-160 completed and have everything else that you need for your interview, complete the Notification of Applicant Readiness Form and when your NVC case status changes to “In-transit” you can go to https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv to create an account and schedule an interview.  Make sure that you allow at least 5 working days between the date of your medical exam and the date of your interview or risk the results from the exam not arriving in time.  For your interview go here https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv/  or call here 442074867822

U.S. Embassy London is pleased to inform you that we have received an approved petition in support of your

fiancee) or K3/4 visa application. Please refer to our website at https://uk.usembassv.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/ for detailed instructions on preparing for your visa interview and scheduling the appointment.

In accordance with 9 FAM 41.81 PN3.2, please find:

    •        One copy of the petitioner's approved Form I- 129F, together with any criminal background information (including information on protection orders) that USCIS has gathered on the petitioner and any information that USC1S has provided regarding prior Form 1-129F filings by the petitioner.

    •        One copy of USCIS's pamphlet, "Information on the Legal Rights Available to Immigrant Victims of Domestic Violence in the United States and Facts about Immigrating on a Marriage-Based Visa.

Issuance of a K visa is not guaranteed. A Consular Officer will evaluate your case and make a final determination

You are advised not to make any travel plans until you receive your visa.

Should you need to communicate with the Embassy regarding your case, please provide your case number exactly as

    it is listed below.

is this process the same for everyone? I am so confused. I went to speak with my lawyer yesterday and he said the next stop for me was the affidavit of support after which I should proceed with DS-160 and my interview. I asked about medical and he said you will be notified when its time for that. He made no mention f NVC or case number he said that was for spousal visa.

Not knowing what Embassy you are processing through prevents us from responding to many of your questions. If you look at the profile others here, they have a flag for their country so it makes it easy for us to reply. Each Embassy has different set of process's and no two are the same.

So if you could help yourself out and complete your profile sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Depending on your Embassy can be as short as 1 month or sometimes up to 3 months. It depends on the Embassy and how fast you work. Again, since I don't know your Embassy, this is a wild estimation.

    Thanks

I am processing from Abuja embassy Nigeria. what do you think?
