  1. Hi, so my sister has a multiple US Visa and she’s trying to apply her son for US Tourist Visa. The question is, the parents are separated and my nephew is under my sister’s custody. My sister is in Oman with her son. The husband is in the PI. They’re not annulled nor legally separated yet. She submitted all the requirements for my nephew including a letter of no objection for us visa application. What do you think are the chances for my nephew getting a visa? Thank you!

hi...just curious, before receiving the e-mail message instructing you to go to the nbi office for an interview, did you already have a face-to-face interview with a consular office at the embassy? if so, did they require another interview after having the nbi letter?  how long did it take? would appreciate you sharing the experience. thanks.

Hi! Luckily, I received the email before my interview. I went to NBI early With the email with me. The process took 20 mins. They send out the letter every Friday. So the US Embassy had the NBI letter at my interview.

The process with NVC can be hit or miss.  In our cases it was beautiful...one week after arrival.  But it’s a good point to not wait a long time to follow up if nothing happens.  Some people wait a couple of months before they find out NVC didn’t start the process.

Yeah.. I actually went to SS after a week and I was turned away the first time and the 2nd time  since the policy now is to wait after 3 weeks.. but I’m just glad that everything is set now ❤️

  4. I just thought I’d share that after 3 and half weeks of entry into the US, I finally got my green card :) It was a good surprise because we thought it would come after 3 months. However, my social security number didn’t arrive even though we applied for it during the NVC process. So after 3 weeks, I went to the social security office and applied for an ssn.  My advice is, if your ssn doesn’t arrive in the mail after 3 weeks, you can go to the office and apply for one :)

Following... As my POE will be LAX too

Arrived at 10:30 Am at LAX airport and it was hectic. I waited in line for maybe about an hour and when it was time for my CBP interview, I was told to wait for another officer to process me as it will take a little longer, after maybe 5 minutes an officer came and escorted me to a different booth along with another immigrant. The interview only took about 5 minutes and I was done smile.gif It was an easy and smooth entry other than the waiting smile.gif

It is not an issue with this. Your ineligibility for the GC previously was because you were not eligible because of age for THAT process.

You may very well have to go to secondary. But so what? Yes you may have to wait for awhile if it's crowded and then you may get 5 minutes or even 30 minutes of questioning on your background to make sure you are not a threat to security or public safety, but you should feel safe and secure in the knowledge that you have done nothing wrong, have successfully made it through the CR1 process that includes an FBI background check and a review of your prior immigration history to the US, and have an immigrant visa in hand that expressly gives you the ability to seek entry into the US to be a permanent resident.

    Enjoy your new life.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge I really appreciate it. I guess I was a bit worried becaused I overstayed 5 months after the decision was made. I was able to acquire FBI Police clearance and submitted it to the embassy at my interview. I’m hoping for a smooth entry. God bless you all and thanks once again!

You would not have been granted the visa if the situation was an issue.. your spouse visa is totally separate to the previous K2 visa, where you were not allowed to enter because you  no longer met the visa criteria.

I was allowed entry into the United States at LAX OCT 2006. Processed my AOS and GC interview in April 2006 where I was not granted a GC cause I turned 21 during the process. They made me sign an affidavit of withdrawal and made a final decision in May 2007. Went back to Philippines November 2007. So just worried going into secondary because of this.

You might have to secondary, but maybe not.  My wife did just because she declared slightly less than $10,000........they counted it, and sent her on her way.  Congratulations.....more than 2 year marriage means IR-1 and 10 year Green Card soon after arrival.

Thank you very much! I’m sure I won’t be bringing $10,000 for sure haha😂

Plenty of POE reviews for LAX on the site for you to read through.

If you have already been married for 2 years or more, you will get a 10-year green card.

Thank you for the link. I’m just a little worried because I entered the US in October of 2006 under K2 visa (child of k1) and I was not granted a GC because the officer determined I was no longer elegible since I turned 21 during the process. So I voluntarily went back to my country 5 months after the decision which was in November 2007.

It is YOU who keeps giving Manila specific advice that doesn't apply to Montreal.  Please stop it.

I’m aware she’s Montreal which is why I gave her link to interview instructions for Canada/Montreal. I was wrong at first and I admit that and apologised to her. I hope you can put this to rest as I only mean well.

Okay, so an update here. Embassy asked me to contact US visa info website folks so I reached out to them but they said they don 't control scheduling and it's up the embassy to release the slots and at the moment, there are none. So I've to constantly keep on checking on regular basis. This seems very inefficient way.

Have you tried singing up for ustraveldoc website? Cause that’s how I scheduled mine. In the website it shows you the earliest schedule that they have.

  12. My husband and I had 2 weddings too even tho we didn’t intend to. Unfortunately the judge that was assigned to us didn’t agree to do civil wedding outside the courthouse. Since we already made arrangements for like a big wedding, we decided to get a pastor to officiate the wedding and then we where scheduled for a civil wedding. The first wedding was attended by 90 people while the civil wedding had only 5. I brought the photo albums for the both weddings and in the end the CO didn’t even bother look at them. I volunteered them and he said no that’s okay! Actually, he didn’t look at all the proof of relationship I brought with me. Interview lasted about 3 mins and my CR1 Visa was approved :) That was just a week ago btw! Good luck! You should be okay!

Ps. We only submitted our Marriage Certificate and photos for the wedding which only had 5 people :) The COs are trained to determine whether the marriage is fraud or not. So there is nothing to worry about especially when the truth is what you have :)

How soon do you have to reschedule? Like can you do it after a month or two or it has to be done within days ?

I decided to confirm with SLEC as yo when my psych eval results will be available and was informed in 2-3 days. When I got that confirmation, I rescheduled mine right away, meaning even before my psych eval.

Actually, just had my psych eval yesterday morning and my results will be available today :)

  14. I had my psych eval today and I feel like everything went fine. The doctor just asked me about my father who I don't have a relationship with right now and why such thing happened and about the case file against me in 2014 which was the main reason why I was subjected to undergo psych eval. Just weird that the doctor focused on my daddy issues tho. Anyway, I didn't have to undergo psychiatric test but will the CO ask me about my psych eval results? Thank you!

Varies with each situation, some they simply send the letter, others are required to be interviews by NBI first.    You could ask at NBI when there.

Print out a copy of the email from the embassy, bring that to NBI as stated already.  They will forward the letter of explanation to the embassy.   Then .. patience.

Hi. I am actually done with this one and everything went so smoothly and was surprised how everyone was so nice and accommodating . I was done in less than 30 mins. So my letter didn't make it to the cut off period but It will definitely be sent to the embassy this Friday just before my interview next week as confirmed by the NBI personnel I spoke with earlier. Thank for your response :)
