Personally, we (my husband and I) haven't ran into an issue of fairness or justness in the system, and I've only read a case from one person here where USCIS royally screwed them over. (They had the case, then lost their case, admitted they lost their case, and told the person to reapply because it was no longer in the system). Everyone else it wasn't a case of not meeting the requirements, but them wanting more proof because the proof was lacking on a subjective level.

It should become fairly obvious very quickly if the system is taken advantage of, and it may mean less DIY cases and more lawyer cases.

And just from the amount of people here on VJ that know you could placeholder an application, I do truly believe it was probably something that was taken advantage of.

It's a bad apples spoil the bunch case, but we'll see what the response truly is once more applications get put through/denied.

The big question will be, can they deny applications because they don't believe there is ENOUGH proof? So say you send in 5 documents supporting a bona fide marriage, one of the requirements. Will they just deny if they don't like the proof sent? From what it looks like, it's simply if you don't have a complete packet from the initial take in like when they cash the check. Again though. I do believe that they should at least say what is missing, but yes that would hold them accountable.

And as a side note, I don't trust or have faith in the government. I expect the worst when it comes to immigration and that our lives have no matter to them and we are just numbers on a paper. We are actually an inconvenience at the end of the day. I believe they give a right of immigration solely because it can look good, I don't believe they want anyone to actually immigrate here unless they can benefit the country in some way. We're in their claws and they can crush us any time unless people with more power decide to care a little bit more.

Just returned from the UK after 10 days, no issues getting out of the USA or into the UK.
On arrival at check in on the way out, I had to see a desk clerk to verify my expired green card and NOA, then on to the flight.
Arriving at Newark, again had to have my details and letter checked, no real issues - just took a little longer thats all.

Just wanted to follow up on all the questions and how to travel with an I-797 and ensure that I had all my information correct.  We have been in Europe for 2 weeks traveling and at the airport to fly home, we showed my husband's expired Green Card and the original NOA.  He verified his name and info and we were finished in 30 seconds.  I asked him and he said he gets multiple per week.  No need for a stamp with the I-797.....

Just wanna give you guys some heads up. Something is going on at the SCs. April filers (I am one of them) are still waiting for their NOAs. No checks or Money orders have been cashed. They recived my package one month ago at the beginning of april. No cashed Money, no NOAs. Everybody is biting their nails. Nobody knows what is going on. So be prepared for a long, nerve racking waiting time.
Here is our google doc so you can follow any updates.

Hello! Sorry for not posting right away, I'm on a flash trip with my husband to visit his parents in North California. So I just checked my bank account and the check was cashed yesterday! Yeeeeyyyy!!!
I can't believe how good it feels!
    so relieved.
I looked for the post with the spreasheet and tried to add myself but I cannot do it from my phone for some reason.
    anyway:
    sent 04/09
    CSC received it 04/10
    check cashed 05/29
I saw from USPS email that I have something from USCIS waiting for me so I'll update here tomorrow when I'm back home. Pretty sure it's the extension letter but I just want to be 100% sure.

Next step is biometrics notice, which should either say that they will use old biometrics or need new ones.. hopefully we get that notice before we are eligible for retirement

Thought you guys would get a kick out of this. This morning, I saw a text message and email from USCIS stating my case has been updated. When i checked......it was for the I-90 application for replacement green card (we had to get my husband's name corrected on his GC). We received the new corrected GC in DECEMBER. i'm just now getting notified that it was mailed to us. HA!
